Bad service and an incomplete order when I got home
Waited 48 minutes for a pastrami sandwich to go. People who ordered after me repeatedly received their orders. When I asked, I was told me order was coming and then more people who ordered after me continued to get their food. When my sandwich was finally ready, I asked if they’d forgotten my order and they said yes. I then asked if the potato salad was in the box with the sandwich. I was assured I didn’t need to check so I drove home and they for forgot the potato salad. Terrible service and an incomplete order.

It's a cool place, but the food is just ok. The dessert was really good, I had a piece of the lemon dome, it was so light and creamy. Huge piece too. The borscht was excellent but I prefer mine hot, still good. Chicken salad sandwich was ok. My man had the club and it was huge. He liked it. Service was nice and attentive.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed Turkey Sandwich
We visited this deli with another couple. It was my first visit to a Sherman’s bakery and was looking very much towards an excellent sandwich. I chose the turkey breast sandwich. It came with a large amount of turkey and two slices of bread. There were no condiments such as tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, mustard. It was very disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyEasy Valentines Dinner
We wanted something simple for Valentines Day and opted for Sherman’s. Thankfully there was no extravagant deal made about it being Valentines Day. Only having to wait maybe 5 min to be seated, the place was packed which was great. The menu was filled with so many delicious options, but I instantly had my heart set on a bowl of Matzo Ball soup to start. And oh how my heart was and comforted by the great flavors. For my entree, I opted for a sandwich, and I don’t k IW what came over me but t I opted for a corned beef between two Latkes , and decadent doesn’t begin to describe how it tasted. Inwas smart enough to only eat half. It came together so well (and was great for breakfast the following day.) my partner ordered a clChopped Salad and was content with it. It was definitely a great way to spend a donner. We had a grea server too:
Be the first to ReplyOverall Still Good.
We came here twice. Just after lunch, so we didn't have to wait long. The first time was Okay, in my opinion. The BBQ briquet sandwich was fatty and contained gristle, but the desserts were wonderful both times. My turkey pastrami sandwich on the second visit was superb. And, of course, the desert was stellar (my wife and I shared the apple pie). The service was Okay the first time (she seemed tired) but good the second time around (same server). Overall, I think they are still a great place to eat, but the quality of everything is not as consistently good as years ago. But we will continue to go there.
Be the first to ReplyA disappointing meal
We were looking forward to Sherman’s but were very disappointed. The bread on both of our sandwiches was not fresh at all. The corned beef and the pastrami were nothing to write home about . The potato salad was also dry with no flavour at all. We also tasted our neighbour tables lemon cake and it was also dry. Is this a Monday thing?

Food and service were excellent. A casual deli style environment that Has great soups, great variety of sandwiches and great deserts. We had the cabbage soup, which is a house favorite. Very tasty with Nice portions of beef in a flavorful spicy broth. For dinner I had Pastrami sandwich with potatoes salad. For dessert we had coconut cake ( couple split it). Our waitress was very helpful , she has worked there over 12 years, This place is a local favorite by all. Get there early, for a Monday night, was a packed house. Enjoy

There's a wait for a reason. Everything we had was great, but I especially want to recommend the onion bagel. It's got a wonderful chewy bagel texture, and it's loaded with onions. It's not a plain bagel with some dried onion shavings stuck onto the top of it like you get so many places!

I stopped here on a roadtrip from San Francisco to Phoenix and it’s the perfect half way point to have a delicious meal. Everything on the menu looked so good it was impossible to decide what to get! I ordered a small bowl of the chicken soup with a matzo ball and a pastrami latke sandwich. The soup was phenomenal, taste as good as my mom’s (but don’t tell her lol). The pastrami was also delicious and the potato latkes were the best I had ever tasted. The combination of pastrami and latkes with the horseradish mustard was out of this world. The sandwich was huge I could only eat half so definitely easy to split with someone. After lunch we stopped at the bakery counter and picked up ruggelah, mondel bread, and some cookies. All in all everything was delicious, service was fast, and friendly. I will definitely make an effort to come back here on my way back!

We went for breakfast not knowing all the history - pleasantly surprised to see it was featured on DDD. Took home the homemade turkey pastrami, corned beef and chopped liver all of which were delicious. Had a fabulous NY style breakfast (lox and eggs). Everything from the food to the homemade baked goods (delicious and impressive!) to the staff/service was great. Definitely worth a visit if you are a deli fan!

Part of the disappointment was undoubtedly based on high expectations. The service was average. The food was bland and plain. The sweet and sour cabbage soup was delicious. Everything else…meh.

We had heard this was an awesome Restaurant. We thought we would give it a try. We ordered the Hot Turkey Sandwiches. Not at all what we expected. Gravy was a bright yellow with no taste. The turkey was very bland. Very expensive for the poor quality of food.
Be the first to ReplyTHEY CAN'T GET IT RIGHT.
Shermans can not make the orders right. I ordered clear broth with a matzo soup. I received a chicken noodle soup with heavy salt flavor. This was a to go order. I called them to fixed the order. I was on hold for 15 minutes until the manager answered. By then I was almost back to the restaurant. She made no apology for the incorrect order. The restuarant gave me a new soup with matzo ball. The employee said the soup is not clear but has lots of spice and salt. I took it just to get out of their. We will never go there again. The first time we had an restaurant sit down order that was screwed up. The manager did not fixed the issue. Shermans will be off our list of Palm Desert restaurants to go to. Two strikes they are out.

Top notch, friendly and responsive staff. Excellent food. Best jewish style deli I've been to in a long time. Rivals some of the best deli's in NYC. Ran into some locals who eat her often and spoke highly of the place. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and Disappointing
Visited this restaurant for the first time…The menu was very extensive and was looking forward to trying this establishment ordered their Signature mushroom and barley soup. The soup was a big disappointment it had 5 sliced pieces of mushrooms and the rest of the very thick soup was barley. There was no mushroom taste and very bland. Thought I would make up for it by ordering one of their deserts so I ordered the Black Forest cake which I have had numerous times at other locations. It was a very large piece but after I took a bite it the cake was dry, the cream was thick and hard.. I told the waitress but she said it had just come out of the cooler and would get better. She came back a few more times and asked how it was and I kept explaining that it wasn’t good and wasn’t getting any better Very disappointed as it was not resolved and it cost over $9.00 Will not be returning to this establishment

We have always been big fans of Sherman’s! Impossible to find a good deli menu anywhere these days? Stopped by during Film Fest for a quick Fix! Love the Big Combos sandwiches….Pastrami with Corned Beef, maybe a shmear of some hopped liver? Pickles ….are always gr8 here. And….you need the Chicken Soup! It was freezing the day of our visit. Hot chicken soup was a mitzvah! Always busy….lots of hustle bustle,but…..I have to say, something changed? Prices are super high, which is somewhat expected in this market….with this inflation administration, but the portions were equally reduced? My combo was over $21.00, and the meat portion for both selections was no more than 4-5ozs? Taste and quality were very good….but, portion was very skimpy! Soup was chicken broth, and not much else. I think we will still stop here for their early dinner specials, but for now…..that’s it. We did find another option down the road. Manhattan in the Desert. Same type of deli style place…..but, the sandwiches are much larger, quality same or better, and their MishMash Chicken Soup is a Hit with us! Big bowl of soup stuffed with noodles, vegetables, matzoh ball, and kreplach. Outstanding! A meal by itself. We split a Corned Beef and Pastrami Combo with some chopped liver and onion. About the same price as Sherman’s, but 30/40% more meat and filling etc..? Nice to have choices!
Be the first to ReplyArby's size Pastrami sandwich for $20!
The pastrami sandwich is an embarrassment-----ordered one thinking it was big enough to share and It is not enough for one person, The side of potato salad was the size of a small mustard cup. And $20-----re you kidding me!
Be the first to ReplyComfort Food
For the last ten years I participate in the Palm Desert games and one of the recommended places to eat was Sherman’s Deli, it has been a local favorite since the late 1950. I do a lot of traveling and I prefer local eatery vs franchise, since it represents the community. The staff and owners are top notch, very engaged with their new customer or local regulars. Now the food and bakery WOOO LALA, everything is homemade and total comfort food. I have never had a bad meal there, breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can also bring your furry babies they have treats for them.

Amazing sandwich, the pastrami was off the hook , the place has a great reputation and it’s fully deserved . There was a line but they moved through it quickly and I was sat within 10 minutes . I will return when next in the area
