Went to this restaurant the other night for a friends
Went to this restaurant the other night for a friends birthday. We had a reservation for 6. We got there and the hostess wouldn't sit us because we were a few minutes late and made us wait about 20 minutes. We sit down and we are greeted by several different employees one at a time asking us if we wanted bottled or tap water to each one we we tell them tap. It was almost like they kept coming to ask because they didn't like the answer we gave them! After a few minutes we are brought bottled water. One bottle after the next they have someone walking around special to fill water just so they can keep bringing a new bottle to help rack up the bill. Even though we ordered Tap. Now the food comes and each dish and plate is smaller than the next. I really can't believe a restaurant can charge prices this high and serve such small portions. The food wasn't even good all 6 of us walked out hungry after paying $700 for a small piece of fish a little dish of pasta and a few cauliflower in a plate. We ended up stopping at a local pizza joint on our way home to have a real dinner. I truly felt taken advantage of! Shame on you! Was a real disappointment! Definitely do not recommend!

Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences my husband and I have had thus far. Our table wasn't ready and after waiting about 15 minutes a gentleman kindly offered us a quieter spot in the corner of the bar since we had a sleeping infant with us. It felt like our own private dining experience in the end! I have celiac disease and they not only immediately told me everything I could have on the menu, which was a LOT including pasta, but they brought out my own gf bread basket with gf focaccia bread and a separate set of the 3 dips, which were all amazing. I took the extra bread and eggplant caponata back to hotel for midnight snack since I couldn't let it go to waste. We had the beet and chicory salad, my husband had the hamachi crudo & spaghetti tomato basil which sound so simple but he said they were the best he's ever had. I had the black cod with braised fennel and tomato sauce and it was so good I'd have licked the plate if I were at home. The roasted cauliflower and roasted carrots were both delicious accompaniments. This place will be hard to beat!

Food and cocktails were also very good.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was fantastic- best duck I have ever had.
The service was spot on; attentive, but not overbearing. Beautiful atmosphere. For me it's a great neighborhood spot, but I would highly recommend it for a special occasion.

Really lovely place with excellent service and mouthwatering food. I tried to make a reservation for 2 last minute before a show on a Saturday and there was nothing before 10pm so I signed up for the waitlist alert and later the same day got a spot at 5 that way. Interesting that at 5 there was almost no one in the restaurant. Not sure why no tables were available. At any rate it was awesome to be there when it wasn't packed and we enjoyed the food and wine tremendously.

Great restaurant for a date night or a nice night out with family or loved ones. More of an intimate setting. The complimentary bread is really nice since you get a variety of types. My favorite was the focaccia. Went with a big group and was able to sample a little bit of a lot of different dishes. One of my favorites was the grilled branzino - perfectly tender and the sweetness of the fish was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of salt. I HIGHLY recommend the tomato basil spaghetti - such a simple, yet highly palatable dish. That was by far my favorite dish, but I do wish you were able to add a protein to it. The service was great, just as you'd expect for a nice NYC restaurant. Nothing above and beyond.
Be the first to ReplyWaiter was great.
Wine sommelier recommended a very good Sancerre . Scallops and yellowtail were delicious.Pastas were all outstanding Lobster Black Tagliolini, Tomato and Basil Spaghetti, Lamb Pappardelle, and Ravioli Cacio e Pepe . So were the halibut, black cod and duck. It was our friend's first time and they claimed it was the best real Italian food they have eaten in New York City. And they live here! Keep up the good work.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! Has been a consistently wonderful modern Italian spot over the years. And I appreciate that they are always part of Restaurant Week! Their mushroom truffle polenta is the best thing on the menu (possibly the best thing in the city!) and their complementary bread and spreads are fantastic!

Love everything about Scarpetta! This place gets super full right at opening, but if you linger around the bar the bartenders will take great care of you. I've popped in twice as a solo diner and they helped me snag a seat as soon as a chair opened and were really attentive in getting my drinks and food out quickly. The SHORT RIB & BONE MARROW AGNOLOTTI - WOW - perfect morsels of flavor in every bite and reminiscent of a soup dumpling, these will not disappoint.

Spaghetti was delicious as was the burrata, tuna and margarita Italiano.

Be the first to ReplyScarpetta was a very unique dining experience.
The quality of the service and the presentation of the food makes this place one of the great Italian restaurants in the city. A friend and I decided to give Scarpetta a shot during NY Restaurant Week and loved the diversity of the courses. I had heard Scarpetta was famous for its classic spaghetti and was shocked that such a simple dish could be so good. Scarpetta definitely nailed this dish and I would come back just for this, presentation, flavor, and all.Definitely add Scarpetta to your list if you want some higher end italian dining, plus reservations aren't too hard to get.

I came here for a friends birthday dinner and just assumed it was another Italian spot in New York City. WOW WAS I WRONGItalian is definitely my top three favorite food groups and let me say this place quickly rose to the top of my Italian recommended places. We ordered the restaurant week prefix menu, including the delicious complementary selection of breads, which I would return for alone. We ordered the yellowtail sashimi, butter and sage agnolotti and ended with the olive oil cake and marscapone. Everything was absolutely to die for melt in your mouth. The spicy tequila drinks were incredible as well. The service was on point as well. Lemons with the water we're provided and water was always refilled (we had a large party). The ambiance is cute dimly lit perfect for dates or catching up with friends over dinner. 10/10 will come back and stuff my face again and again and again.
Be the first to ReplyThe Braised Short Ribs taste quite good.
For taste requirements. The taste is also very good. How about Foie Gras Ravioli. Foie gras wrapped in chaos with toppings and garnishes inside. When you bite down. That taste is indeed very satisfying. The rich soup has rich nutrition of foie gras.Bone Marrow Agnolotti. Maybe when you finish eating you will feel the real feeling of this delicacy. Very full of real ingredients.

I've spent years reading about Scarpetta and wondering about what it would be like to eat here. I finally grabbed a dinner reservation during one of the last nights during NYC's Restaurant Week and tried their Restaurant Week Dinner Menu. Everything, from the ambiance, customer service, drinks, and food was delicious. The only thing that was missing for my group was unfortunately the portion sizes. It turned into one of those nights out where you spend a couple hundred and still walk out insanely hungry and go home and make yourself a whole other plate of food. I understand the quality and portion size-to-price situation but it was still frustrating for my dinner party to leave so hungrily afterward. All in all, a decent time, from start to finish.
Be the first to ReplyI will say I loved the bread that they gave as a starter.
Other than that, I thought everything else was alright given the price. I really appreciated that they had some mocktails and the Pompelo smash was yummy. But it was not worth $12. The portion size of my pasta dish was more than I had expected but I didn't think the flavor was outstanding or anything (didn't really taste the basil breadcrumbs) especially for $41. Overall good. Not great. I finished my pasta and by the time I got home my stomach was grumbling.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dining experience.
The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Our server, Gent, was engaging and so helpful with recommendations. The spaghetti was probably my favorite next to the yellowfin tuna.

So I actually didn't eat here but I lost my cell phone in the city a couple weeks ago when I was with my 7 year old daughter. I was convinced it had been stolen or if not, still lost forever. The owner of Scarpetta found my phone in the middle of the street, saved it and got it safely back to my husband. I'm eternally grateful not only because of all my pictures from our trip and personal info that could have been stolen but it just restored my faith in the good in people. Although we were not able to eat at Scarpetta's during our short time we had in the city, you better believe next visit I will eat there and continue to recommend the restaurant to any friends that live in or visit the city. The reviews are already fantastic for food and ambiance but I also wanted to leave one showing the good in the people running the restaurant and to show the type of people you are supporting when eating at this restaurant. Thanks again Scarpetta's! I'm a life-long fan!
Be the first to ReplyWorth the $150pp bill? Not quite.
The atmosphere is beautiful, service is fantastic and engaging, food is good... but not "omg this is amazing" good. We've lived nearby for almost 3 years and finally dined at Scarpetta on one of those I don't know what I'm craving evenings. We called the restaurant and booked a reservation just 45 min later. Knowing that it's a chain and a trendy restaurant (and reading recent mixed reviews), we didn't expect much. We were pleasantly surprised and everything was delicious, but didn't find it mind-blowing for the price. What we ordered:Burrata appetizer: must-order, the flavors of apple, soft butternut squash paired well together Negroni & la dolce vita cocktails: whoever said the cocktails were "bad"... I dunno what you've been drinking but these drinks were fantastic. We have high standards for cocktails, especially because I'm very into mixology and make fancy cocktails at home. Him: the short rib bone marrow pasta - very high quality and interesting flavor with horseradishWagyu strip: cooked to my preference (medium rare), incredibly tender steak and sizable portion, delicious mushrooms-- to me I think $74 for this dish was a bit overpricedCreme fraiche panne cotta - great end to a nice meal, loved that it wasn't too sweetWe probably would not return for date night, but we'd potentially bring our parents here.

Came is as a healthcare worker in scrubs after a hectic week, and was told there was no availability all night. Online had multiple openings, which was later confirmed with the manager, who did not apologize for the hostess lying to me. I'm not sure if it's race related and they want Caucasian only clientele, but I will never eat here.
