Went for dinner (did not stay at hotel). We have been many times but not for a couple of years and it is even better than before with new menus (before the menu did not change much from one year to the next). One of us is vegetarian and there was a separate menu which is a real positive. Both of us thought the food was excellent in all respects. The service was also excellent under Ivan and his team. We will be returning.

We tried about 7 different courses. The main course was exceptional - it can be served in any Michelin star restaurant. Other courses were good but they lacked a wow factor that best fine dining restaurants have. One course was a bit flawed or not suited for me - I didn't finish it. The ambient is very romantic and green (garden with olive trees, fruit trees...). The olive oil they make is flawless as well as the bread.

Spend there 3 beautifull days. Sun, pool and peace, what more do you need. Perfect little butique hotel you will enjoy. Afternoons at pool they bring every guest plate of fresh fruits. Breakfast was so good. So much to choose from. We had a amazing dinner at their restaurant at hotel. They have the largest amount selections of wine. Room was nice, cozy and bed was great. Can't wait next year to come again. And our dog had a great time with us there.
Be the first to ReplySan Rocca HR Ein interessanter Restaurantbesuch/ an interesting visit in a top restaurant
I write in english for broader PA A short holiday in HR, Istria, after a long and hot day on the Beach a not expected invitation to have diener. My son in law told us just to shower and change dress. We had a very short timeslot to act. Restaurant San Rocco, Sredrja ulica 2, 52474 Brtorigia, HR/Istria out in the somewere on the rural side, only Google maps found it, a pitoresc small town a beautiful Michelin star restaurant on its best. Coming from the beach, shower, cleaner shirt and slipper, not the best outfit for 6 adult, one 8y and a breastfeed baby ;-) We were served and enjoyed a superb five-course star menu with truffle and wine. The baby child was satisfied with it's mom, the girl got chips with tomatoe and we all piquet glances from the waiter. Conclusion -If you are able to arrive appropiate dressed in 43°C weather, after a day on the beach, after an adventurous journey, it is a very good recommandation, superb food. -If you are not styled, with an 8y and a baby child, enjoy piquet glances for free, not so nice.
Be the first to ReplyNot recommended restaurant experience
Just to clarify, this review is not about the hotel stay, but about the restaurant experience, which I do not recommend at all. What was supposed to be the culinary highlight of our trip in Istra ended in a complete and very expensive disappointment. Even if I wanted to comment on every single dish we had I couldn't, because now, 4 days later, I don't even remember anything other than how bland the taste was. Not a single dish left an impression, the food was very flavorless and uninspired, the quantities were not well thought out and not even the waiters engaged with us (my partner doesn't speak Croatian and everything was explained to us in a very basic vocabulary). In the end they didn't even ask us if everything was ok, which is also one of the reasons I am leaving this review. To conclude, the food was not bad and we did not go home hungry, but it was very, very far from the advertised Michelin experience. Also, this is not a Michelin star restaurant, but a Michelin guide restaurant, which although also inexplicable to us, is a different thing.
Be the first to ReplyVery welcoming, high class family run hotel
Extremely helpful staff, very welcoming. Rooms were high quality and clean, restaurant excellent. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully maintained. Hotel staff were helpful in arranging taxi pickup from Porec at a very reasonable price. Not a cheap hotel, but high quality.

Open terrace is where you want to dine in this time of the year. I will score this experience with 4 stars only because one small detail.
So for scenery I have no words because it was tranquil and cozy.
Food; taste, presentation, temperature, portion was exquisite in every respect. We took 6 course tasting menu (plus amuse bouche and pre desert) with some adjustments for my wife (thank you). Local ingredients, meat, fish, in house produced extra vergine olive oil. Service was also good. They did not charge coffee👍🏻. Now what bothers me; for our reasons we did not drink wine, we drank water, my issue is, if bottles of water are out of my site, why the waiter cannot announce that I finish up my bottle and ask do I want another one. Both waiters with multi lingual capacity.
Worth carrying Michelin star. Well done
Over- Rated and Over-Priced
I came here for dinner with my wife and daughter (23) to enjoy a delicious ‘Michelin Guide’ super restaurant. The location was superb as was the ambience, weather, decor and layout. However, we came for a meal and the main ingredient was food. Alas, this was where the wheels came off the cart.
There clearly is an Italian influence here - the do Parmaggiano in a style of their own (apparently). Normally this dish which is a classic egg-plant, courgette, onion, pepper tomatoes and cheese roast godsend. However, at San Rocco this became quite a comical four tiny slithers of zucchini served with little blobs of soft cheese and ketchup. There was enough on the plate for a mouthful and quite frankly the thought of ketchup makes me feel queasy (sick). We laughed. And it cost €15! The joke was on us. Clearly. We ordered it - we ate it -we paid for it. It was terrible.
For mains, we ordered pasta, ravioli and lamb (cooked for 24 hours) served, again with ketchup. Apart from one slice of potatoe there were no vegetables or sides even though it was explained by the knowledgeable waiter that the dish comes with vegetables. Alas - not true.
We also made a mistake with the ravioli Stuffed with fish and served with some orange sauce. This dish cost €20 and comprised 3 ravioli (enough to feed a small child). This was a main course! The other problem was that we forgot to ask the Chef to cook them. They were served frozen! We were not sure if they were meant to come this way. My wife ate one! When we explained this to the waiter he hurriedly took the two remaining ravioli back and promised to provide us with cooked ones. Fiasco.
The pasta with mushroom sauce was absolutely tasteless and again tiny. Hugely expensive again.
At least we laughed as this was all that was left. We were astonished that people frequented this restaurant as it is astonishingly expensive, the food is at best mediocre and the portions are TINY. We had high hopes for this venue primarily because of the reviews but how can a professional Chef serve frozen salmon ravioli? We paid the bill without question but wonder if anyone really considered what they ate at this restaurant. It would never survive in London or any place with a slither of competition. It is worth a visit if you are rich, not hungry and and are happy with frozen mediocrity. I for one would prefer some grilled squid, pizza, salad or anything in fact which is tasty, fresh and cooked.

Wonderful!
We ate two dinners here recently, the wine pairing dinner was so fabulous we came back for the a la carte menu the next day. There were more than enough flavors and delicacies to fill two dinners.
Hotel rooms are stylish and peaceful. There is a basket in the room with towels to take to the pool, which was cold with lounge chairs around its beautiful setting. We did not use the spa or the indoor pool. Breakfasts had just about anything you want with warm fresh baked breads and eggs cooked to order as well, service was impeccable. Kudos to the staff!
