Every dish we had tasted (and looked) amazing.
This was the first time I had eaten at Salt Yard - I came here for a meeting with three clients. Every 'small dish' we ordered tasted (and looked) amazing and next time up in the area, I'll definitely head back there.
Lovely afternoon
We had the chefs taster menu for 2 it was excellent, there was plenty of each tapas very tasty. The menu was not extensive which we are always in favour of as it gives the chef a chance to concentrate on the choices. We had a very refreshing bottle of Reisling to accompany our meal. The waitress’s were friendly informative and in general added to a very to a lovely afternoon
Not worth the money
Was looking forward to this place, but ended up pretty disappointed with the food, service and the prices. This place is overrated for what it is.
Lovely Meal
Really interesting and high quality food. Service very good. Mainly small plates which I think are slightly over priced, but the food is really enjoyable. This was my second visit and I will certainly return.
Perfect place!
Perfect place! We Went there. Two girls from Czech republic. Guys were treated with us as princesses. They were really nice to us. Smile all the time. Take care all the time. We had a great time! I can really reccomend this place! 👏☺️👍
Great food, Great drinks, Great staff, what’s not to love.
Have eaten here about 5 times in total, but the previous time was about 2 years ago. Fortunately I’m please to say the standards haven’t dropped at all. Great food, Great drinks, Great knowledgeable staff. Will be back !

Let down by rude, unsmiling, unwelcoming bar manager and 4 x cold food plates
This was a second visit, but very disappointing. The evening did not start off to a good start as the bar/manager as sullen, rude and very unwelcoming made it clear he was not happy to have customers . We did not have a reservation but it was 6.30pm and there was only two tables occupied - the rest of the night the restaurant only ever had two or three tables occupied. The friendly waitress placed us at the very end and he immediately said in a very loud accusing voice DO THEY HAVE A RESERVATION? and she explained there were lots of tables and she had moved one up. There was no need to treat us like lepers and show his contempt for these heathen people who had failed to organise their whole lives around him and his empty restaurant. We were smiley and friendly but were faced with cold faced scorn. I do not think it was us - everyone seemed to get the same rude, bored, too good for us treatment. They handed out he menu and asked straight away what we wanted and so we asked for a couple of minutes to decide - again faced with scorn. For the following 25 mins we tried to get his and the waitress attention to order. This happened for the rest of the night - we were stuck at the far end of the restaurant so hard to catch their eye but they would not check on us and we had to get up every time we wanted to: Order drinks Order food Order more drinks Ask for dessert menu Ask for the bill Every time the same man was standing with his back to us - doing nothing, the other waitress was busy or getting questioned by him (I do feel for the waitresses, he is clearly not a pleasant person to work with). The food ... The croquettas and the fish dishes arrived first, 3 plates - all cold. It all tasted nice but had clearly been made much earlier and just left to sit until someone ordered. The Croquettas were totally cold with a hint of tepid heat from an hour ago, the fish again - was just cold. The waitress said afterwards that a la planch meant they just touch the heat ... but sadly this may have had heat an hour earlier - but certainly not made fresh for the table. Same for the dish. Patatas bravas - again clearly been sitting just getting cold. The only dish that was warm was a tortilla - maybe that was microwaved. All the other dishes were meaty and I did not taste - and took longer to come up - so they may have been cooked to order. To be honest - i can take the cold food - what really ruined it was the rude man. Wont be going back - this was a very special treat and special occasion, it cost a lot of money which I work really hard to earn and the man and his rude attitude totally ruined it.
Overpriced, poor service
I am afraid we did not enjoy our night out here. The music was terrible - really loud, and fast, really unrelaxing - the sort of thing that seems designed to signal to customers "eat up fast, and leave quickly", which might make sense in Five Guys but not in a place that costs this much. The restaurant was not busy when we were there and I asked if it could be turned down a little. Nothing changed (or if it did, we didn't notice). Some of the food - the tuna - was delicious, but lots of it pretty ordinary and all of it was overpriced. The patatas bravas was warm tasteless stodge. I very politely said that we were not happy with it. The first waitress then patronisingly explained what patatas bravas is (with the clear implication that I should know that this is how it is meant to taste). So I spoke to a second waitress, who told me that she had eaten it at lunch and she had enjoyed it. A really rubbish response from both of them (though the second waitress did remove it from the bill). This is just bad service, wouldn't you agree?
Great choice in Borough
2nd visit in as many months and as good this time as last. The small plates are really tasty, and the wine list is extensive. The mix of Spanish and Italian seems odd at first but actually is a great mix - each dish stands on its own feet - from tortellini to braised pig cheeks. Nice quiet location just round the corner from Borough Market.
