Organized a girls night with a friend from out of town—it’s a decent sized venue but feels cozy (dim lighting, candles etc.)
There is a tasting menu for $125/head but we opted for a la carte (Which before tip ended up being $115/head—but some of the others left a little hungry still, so choose wisely) so it is a reasonably priced tasting menu.
Charred Broccolini: absolutely delicious, not too oily, good flavour, and the Parmesan balances out the flavour. Good amount for two people. (Four was a stretch)
Kara-age Fried Chicken: super crispy chicken, great flavour independent of the sauce—but don’t skip the sauce because it is phenomenal and makes the dish worth while. (I would’ve drank the sauce to not waste it if I wasn’t in public...)
Miyazaki wagyu katsu sando: so this was the hype dish that brought us here—and while it was beautiful and tender (you honestly didn’t need teeth to eat it) I kind of felt the price didn’t match the overall taste. But don’t get me wrong—it was delicious—I just needed it to blow my mind. It was a stunning piece of meat cooked perfectly. But that’s what you’re getting. No frills.
Grilled octopus: cooked to perfection without even the slightest of chewiness—executed brilliantly. Would order again
Bluefin handroll: while I didn’t eat this myself, I was told that it was amazing and she actually ordered a second one. She gobbled it right up and complained it was so good she couldn’t eat it faster, haha. Has a very slight kick to it—she said it was 8% spicy and 3% salty. But when the next one came out I stole a smidge of the tuna and I agree—it had awesome flavour.
Kani Monaka: basically tastes like tuna salad on wafer like bread. It was the fanciest tuna-salad Like thing I’ve ever had, but def wouldn’t pay $12 again. It was kinda like a savoury macaron (In appearance) and wasn’t much bigger either.
Wagyu Curry: absolutely delicious! I actually scrapped the bowl shamelessly. Amassing flavour, good size. Would definitely order again.
Uni Mazeman: this was probably my favourite dish—but I’m obsessed with ramen so I’m a little biased. However the flavour was amazing and the portion size was quite large. The noodles with perfectly cooked with and amazing saucing on them—and a huge lump of uni plopped on top. The bone marrow was also heavenly. This was one of my top choices.
Hope that was helpful! I would definitely come back. As I was leaving I noticed we were the only Caucasian people in the restaurant which meant we chose very well. Would recommend a booking for sure!
