Wow, what a find, what a gem!! I was in London for just a day and wanted to go to a natural wine bar and this was recommended by someone in the french food industry. I must say it didn't disappoint :) The staff was very friendly, and I ended up chatting with the manager and one of the waitresses quite a bit which was nice. All of the wines they recommended were amazing, and the food was also very good! One of the funniest moments of the night was when I ordered a side of bread with butter, and the waitress presented me with an entire half loaf of bread. I'm pretty sure I just looked aghast at the mountain of gluten in front of me, but by the end of the night (after 6 glasses of wine), I had somehow eaten 3/4 of it. It was *really* fantastic.Definitely coming back here the next time I'm in London, and can't wait to see what they have on their menu then :)

Stopped by Sager + Wilde for a glass of wine before going to dinner. Walked in on a Friday around 5ish and were able to find a table easily. It looked like a bunch of tables were reserved but we found a lovely table in the middle of this cute wine bar. The wines we had were incredible and the wine list was extensive. One glass turned into two and we had a hard time leaving to go to dinner! Service was fantastic and atmosphere was great.

Would I come back here if in the area absolutely! They have some great wines if you dare to select one of the wine list and not by the glass! When we arrived the place was reasonably busy with many of the tables reserved however the waiter rather than turn us away on a cold night told us we could sit at one of the tables until the guest arrived! Bam great work guys we really appreciated it! Very soon the place was slammed and we had ordered a Charcuterie and cheese board. We tried some wine by the glass which was ok (Suggest you go for the higher £9-£12 if you want something good! But as suggested where this pace shines in going off the rather large wine menu.We had a wonderful Mercurey 2015 which was superb and paired beautifully with the Charcuterie board. The only fault was a that they did forget the cheese off the board but I forgive them twice over as the place did get busy quickly and they were all running from table to table at speed and secondly as they hospitality was great! Nice one Sager + Wilde! Will be back soon.

Not sure why this place is favoured by critics as one of london's top wine bars. This is more of a friendly neighbourhood wine bar.
Be the first to ReplyWe came in on a quiet afternoon for a glass of wine.
Staff greeted us, encouraged us to sit down and brought us menus, telling us they'd take our order. Brought water quickly, which was good as it was hot. We made our selections pretty quickly, but the waiter kept skipping us. It wasn't that busy, so I don't know what else he was doing, but after 15 minutes we finally flagged him down and ordered our drinks. They were fine, we drank them and chatted and enjoyed the space. When the bill came, there was a £1.50 service charge, which I hadn't noticed on the menu, but possibly missed. Basically, nice wines at not eye-watering prices for this part of London, and OK service. Wouldn't go out of the way for it, but would go again if I were in the area and looking for a drink.

This is my idea of a perfect date place! I had read a lot of reviews about this being the best wine bar in East London, and when we were in the area over the weekend, we decided to come check it out. I made a reservation online through Quandoo, but we were running late so we didn't actually end up making the original reservation. When we came around 10 PM, there were a few empty tables and some seats at the bar too. I was surprised by how not crowded it was on a Friday night. It's a small, narrow space, and not the kind of bar you would want to be standing up in. I ordered an orange wine by the glass, and we also got the cheeseboard, which came with the most delicious fennel seed crackers (and we were offered a free top up!). There was jazz music playing lightly in the background, at the perfect level where you could have a conversation but not hear the conversation of those next to you. I loved the ambience and would definitely welcome the opportunity to drop in again.

A small corner pub turned into a slightly distressed wine bar and snacks in a very urban area. Wasn't sure what to expect however knowing Mike from the east room i knew the quality would be high. It was great. Wine was v nice fully priced. Amusingly the red wine was colder than the white wine (at least at the start). Selection was globally and varied. Food was the surprise. It was great. The cheese and charcuterie were excellent and the avocado and sweet pepper snack was amazing. The grilled cheese toasty was carb crazy but delicious. Mixed group of people passed thru the bar in the evening mostly professional types but no brokers. So overall more than the some of the parts. Not worth a long journey but brilliant if u are local.

.so much. Place looks fabulous, right on this corner on Hackney Road. How many times did I pass in front by bike or by bus thinking "next time I'm out for a drink, that's the place". It all started super well though. This nice french guy helped us to choose the glass of Riesling and advised to go for the carafe (approx. 3 glasses). I went for some nibbles: one of the small plates (red pepper with anchovies) & 1 classic toastie. We then decided to have one more glass of red, the spanish Rioja. To be honest, we didn't really look at the pricelist, we just wanted to have a genuine afterwork drink, with a few small bits to eat...then came the bill. 60£. Very steep. Clearly too much for what we had...and at 27£ the carafe (3 glasses), I might have chosen a full bottle of a cheaper wine. So yeah...bitter experience if you're not ready to pay the price of a full meal just for drinks.

astoundingly accurate and delicious Japanese flavors on the menu the night I visited. found the cocktails to be a bit too sugary - not much alcohol, and the more interesting, uncommon ingredients were covered up by the old standards. I would give them 5 stars, but the decor is obnoxiously persistent.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous wine bar, close to the Columbia Flower Market.
I love the atmosphere here, and the wine selection (try the St. Aubin White Burgundy). Very knowledgable bartenders. Great munchies (try the grilled cheese). I would definitely return!
