Restaurant Matsuhisa Saint-Tropez Ramatuelle Reviews
Wonderful meal
Magical, unique place. An idyllic setting, a service operated by young, very pleasant and competent people. A “surprise” meal around fish which enchanted us.
Absolutely terrible experience!
A lovely view, and it all ends there. After being shown to the worst table in the restaurant I was able to negotiate a moderately better spot. Our clueless and unenthusiastic waiter came and went and finally took our order. The sommelier was actually a bright spot. For two glasses of wine he was extraordinarily courteous and even opened a new bottle that was colder than the one we tasted. He deserves 5 stars but he should go work elsewhere. The food (including a 14 euro bowl of white rice and a 9 euro single mochi) was fine, but nothing special. The complete downfall occurred when 3/4 of the way through the meal a bee landed on my wife's food and remained there. When we mentioned this to the waiter the response was that they are not in control of nature and then he took the plate away. No offer for anything else, despite the food not being finished, No clean plate so that my wife could eat the remaining side dishes. Upon realizing that no resolution was forthcoming I got up and walked across the restaurant to complain to a manager. She reiterated the lack of control of nature and reluctantly asked if my wife wanted more food. Since we were almost done, and already offended, I said no. No follow up apology to my wife at the table ensued and no offer of anything to rectify the situation. Still unsatisfied with the response, I asked my friendly sommelier if there was another more senior manager that he could send over. When she finally arrived I got the "I'm not a beekeeper" story for the 3rd time and not much else. We were offered after dinner drinks which we declined. When I asked for the check manager #2 brought it and said that she took my wife's entree off the bill as well as our desert (the single 9 euro mochi). I told her that it was the lack of apology or attention that was unforgivable and not the economics of the dinner. She then revised the check and took off the 2 glasses of wine, so she took my complaint as a negotiation. Absolutely not how a restaurant of this caliber in a hotel of this stature should perform. Poor choice of personnel, lack of training and a terrible attitude all at very full prices. Go to Gigi instead. We had 3 wonderful dinners there in a better environment and with a very friendly staff.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE!!! We had a reservation for 8 make through American Express Centurion and we were turned away. DAPHNEE who claimed to be the “manager” was horrible. Unsympathetic and not helpful. There were plenty of empty tables and still would not help us. I would never go back. We have a reservation at the hotel which will be cancelled and I will never go back there. I was embarrassed to make my whole group wait only to be met with such disrespect. It’s the first at such a great resort. Unfortunate it’s the employees that make or break the experience. Daphne should be fired. She belongs in no restaurant anywhere in Europe. Really disrespectful. I Will be contacting the hotel management tomorrow. Really terrible attitude.
Dinner with friends
Good morning, We had a great time at Matsuhisa. However, the sommelier recommends a Vouvray, describing it as dry and mineral. At the opening it is in fact a soft Vouvray. It’s very different though!! Well-mastered cuisine. Despite this, we had a nice time. THANKS,
Excellent
Excellent food and service. Wide options of food. Dumplings were really great. For dessert: sub 0. Very good wine menu. A bit pricey but definitely worth it.
