We had the crawfish ravioli, sea bass and souffle for dinner. My friends ordered the cassoulet, smoke salmon and baled Alaska. This is a Michelin restaurant and boy o boy! FANTASTIC FOOD. Service..5 stars, ambience.. 5 stars.. wine choices and selection .. on pointe.

We didn't have reservation but were seated quickly. The restaurant was soon full and many people were turned away. We were given a card for next time with a smile and wink suggested we make a reservation. We had a three course menu and each course was extremely satisfying. The suggested wine pairings were perfect. We finished meal with a cup of coffee and a happy satisfied feeling of a long leisurely lunch in a lovely square.

Absolutely one of the best meals I've ever eaten, this restaurant is known for its Cassoulet which is delicious beyond description. It's very small and will require a reservation to ensure a place at the table.

Coming to Chez Emile and not ordering the cassoulet would be a lot like going to the best Chinese restaurant in town and ordering a burger. They are noted for their cassoulet, they have awards for it over the years, and it is good. So I ordered the cassoulet and I was pleased. I got here in mid November at noon without reservations. I'm not sure that would work any other time. The restaurant itself is small and what I would consider is classically and somewhat formally French. Sure you can come in jeans and a t shirt but don't expect that from the staff. Service was precise but friendly. Then there is the cassoulet. When it came to the table I was a bit surprised. I make cassoulet, I've had it many times. Usually the sauce is thick with the broken down beans. Here it was a bit more fluid and absolutely delicious. I could have made a meal just soaking it up with the excellent bread Emile serves. However, if I did that I would have missed the beans and the meat, both of which were done to perfection. The duck and the sausage were melt in your mouth tender. The beans on the other hand were firm and not mushy. Consistency and flavors were perfect. It was definitely the most memorable lunch of this trip.

Recommended to us by a waiter at another restaurant we had somehow got a reservation. The day of we were able to snag an 8:30 pm reservation but only if we were okay with seating on the inside. No people watching for us sadly. We started with the foie gras, something we generally dislike but so glad we got it. It came with sweet fruit to really help cut that salty fattiness. For our main courses my husband got the duck and I had the a mix of seafood in a crab broth. The duck was amazing. Hands down the best duck we had in our travels in France. So savory and tender and it just melted into your mouth. As for the seafood mix, also amazing but in a different way. The broth was a little spicy but amazing when soaked up with the bread. If you in the area, definitely try to visit Chez Emile, they have an excellent lunch menu price but even our dinner was reasonable; less than 100 euros.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I had the cassoulet.
Thanks to everyone that posted because this is by far the best we've had in Toulouse. The wife and I travel here every so often and have tried several locations... even in Carcasonne, the birth place of the Cassoulet. This place is the best!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is great for lunch if you can make a reservation
This place is great for lunch if you can make a reservation ahead of time, especially in the summer when the weather is nice and you can get a table outside underneath the umbrellas for shade. They have a 22€ lunch menu which is a great deal for 3 courses - an entrée, a fish plat du jour and a dessert. The portions were a decent size and everything was delicious. For the entrée, they had a salmon tartare that looked delicious. I couldn't eat it but my friend had it and said it was really good, one of the best she's had in a while. I had them make a small salad for me and it had fresh tomatoes and mache lettuce and was a perfect starter. The fish was also really good and came paired with a risotto. The dessert was a banana cream with a mousse that seemed to be made from chocolate ganache or something a little richer. The bottom had a buttery pistachio crumble. Normally I don't like banana desserts but this was a good balance with the chocolate and the banana part was fresh.Overall, I would definitely come back here for the lunch menu and hoping to try the dinner soon, although the dinner is a lot pricier than the lunch. They are known for their cassoulet and I've seen a lot of people order it and it looks delicious. Will definitely be back and I love how the menu du jour for the weekdays has some kind of fish.

Amazingly delicious every single time and the service is top notch. I come here every time I'm in Toulouse. I just can't miss an opportunity for perfect cassoulet.

Well prepared and with finesse. The lamb - so tender! The fish - so fresh and prepared perfectly meaning not all dried out! An appetizer of thinly sliced salmon with ginger and lime - so clean! On busy place with outdoor dining. Inside for us - no smoking! The service is a little cold at first.
