What an incredible meal! We did the 10 course menu and loved every single dish. The standouts were the caviar and lobster, the eel in squid ink, the bbq'd lobster skewers, and the blue cheese, but truly, everything was spectacular. Our server, Marcus, was excellent- knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance is sleek, minimal, and modern. My oooonly gripe is that the meal took rather long- over 4 hours - in part due to a 20-30min lag in which nothing was being served, but overall, this was a phenomenal meal and well worth the time and expense. Can't wait to return one day soon.

I am writing here not about service but about the entire process of pre- and post-service experience I encountered with David Toutain -- for complete lack of communication from it and punishment i got from my no-show after confirmed cancellation.I reserved a table for two at 9:00om on Sept. 13 via TheFolk. in the afternoon of Sept. 13, my wife did not feel good so that we tried to cancel. i send a message to The Folk and got a confirmed cancellation message - for which i presumed that everything was fine and we did not need to go the restaurant. Unlike other Michelin restaurants we visited in Paris who sent our confirmation directly to my emails, David Toutain never sent any confirmation directly to me - as a customer dealing with TheFolk, i had to presume the reservation was cancelled.in the morning of Sept. 14, i received a message directly (first-time ever) from David Toutain that the restaurant charged me 560EU for no-show. In the following two days, i sent three messages to the restaurant and explained the situation with confirmed cancellation. I did not hear anything back.BTW, the restaurant has my email, and US phone number. It never bothered to phone me or text me when i did not show up to ask for reason (otherwise, I could have just walked over there to have the dinner on my own). If never bothered to confirm with me the reservation before the meals; and it never bothered to mailed me back to explain or come up with a resolution or even listen to my situation (what happens that a customer got COVID and had to go to the restaurant to contaminate others?). and it charges 560 EU for non-show as a punishment for meal costing on average 130 EU PP.Having dined in many Michelin starred restaurant in many countries, this is the first time and the worst experience i have had. David Toutain completely lacks the communication with guests, are very rude and unprofessional in keeping total silence excepting eagerness to charge the punishment, and punish guests. I am not restaurant like this kind should be removed from Michelin ranking, as Michelin to me, is excellent food plus excellent service.

Was invited by a friend to attend the 10 course tasting, it was an experience I would love to do again. The service and food were phenomenal and the interior design of the restaurant played very well with the way each of dishes we were served.
Be the first to ReplyWe came for a nice meal out on our honeymoon.
This restaurant is definitely priced for "special occasions". We opted for the 6 course meal which was very good. small portions but very good presentations. The waitstaff was excellent. The sommelier was the only negative. He was completely not helpful and I am not sure he really knew anything about wine
Be the first to ReplyA cold and uninviting space with pretentious and fussy food.
The staff was arrogant and the chief tried too hard to be original in his preparation. The dishes all were overpowered with a sweet flavor that took away from the meal. There are far more interesting and delicious restaurantsโ in Paris.

Kudos to the exceptional front house staff who made our 3 yo happy through a 3 hour meal and to the talented chefs delighting with their sublime creations!
Be the first to ReplyThe food here was spectacular, as was the staff.
They were attentive and cared SO MUCH. I told them to refuse to speak to me if I used English (I can barely speak French) and they we're good sports about it -- making fun of my accent. We had a wonderful time. Loved our experience there, so glad we were able to enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely incredible.
We felt like we were on a cooking show, with crazy ingredients combined to make delicious dishes. We use this place as our standard for excellence. Perhaps the best meal we've ever had.

Where's the six star rating? DT is an outstanding Michelin star restaurant (2 to be exact). The experience is truly one of a kind with an out-of-this world tasting menu. Worth your time, money, and effort to travel here and taste.A few things to know before you go:- The dining experience can take around 3 hours (we went for lunch)- You will have a choice of which menu to proceed with after the vegetable-based appetizers (ranging 90โฌ to 250โฌ pp)- Your taste in food will forever change after this meal. The atmosphere: As soon as you find the restaurant, which has a pretty unassuming storefront, you're immediately greeted with suited waiters and rustic yet chic interior design. I know, I know, you're here to read about the food, but everything from the carved walls, the cutlery and the RESTROOMS are on theme with the menu. It's. insane. The food: Bright. Captivating. Original flavor. Your taste buds will tingle. The menu is served in several parts with each dish leaving you excited for the next. DT plays with unexpected shapes, forms, and flavors that both excite and satisfy. My favorites (Summer '19 menu) were the vegetables soaked in a creamy almond foam, mushroom and peanuts, lobster served on pine, and eel bathed in some type of heaven-sent sauce. Where as some Michelin restaurants start to trail off on desserts, DT keeps it going with a knock-out 4-5 dishes of berry, cream, and baked goods. You will leave full, by the way.The service: Top notch. You'll be serviced by several faces in the room, but typically one main waiter walks you through each dish. This is especially important as each dish is so meticulously designed, it's hard to distinguish the food from decor! Best meal I have ever had. An unforgettable lunch.

If I had to describe this meal in one word I think that word would be "unpleasant". From the start of the meal to the finish this had to have been the most unpleasant meal we had in France from our entire 3 week journey (a journey that encompassed 8 other Michelin starred restaurants with 13 stars total)- a huge disappointment considering this was supposed to be a Michelin 2-star and one of the world's best.It started with the table... a kids table, haphazardly placed next to the waiters' station, such that we could smell the dirty dishwater and the waiters actually brushed up against me as they streamed in-and-out of the kitchen about once every second. We told them all of this. They said they had no other tables. Which was true- there were no other tables- including the one they placed us at. This was not a table anyone should have been seated at. We should have left. But sadly we powered through. That said, the food was decent. I don't think it was even 1-star quality (a chewy duck breast here, woody asparagus tip there, etc.) but we had much worse from at least a couple of other similarly acclaimed restaurants so no big whoop there. But the night was perfectly punctuated and fully summed up when the chef, David Toutain himself, who was in the kitchen that night, proceeded to have a full-on, yelling-at-the-top-of-his-lungs, dish-breaking, temper tantrum. Right in the middle of goddamned dinner. Because we were at the shittiest of shitty table, only we were able to witness this foolishness. Some people enjoy that type of drama. But we go out to eat in nice places to get away from stress and negativity, not to be confronted with it in the middle of a very expensive, underwhelming dinner.Anyway, this was not a world's best anything. And service-wise, I certainly don't think it was of the quality of ANY of the Michelin restaurants we've visited in France OR any other part of the world for that matter. In short- DON'T GO HERE. There- you've been warned.

This restaurant needs a reservation to dine in, as it's Michelin star rated. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the food and was able to provide us some recommendations. We ended up ordering almost all of the food on the menu. They don't tell you explicitly what you can order, you just order by the number of courses. The ambiance was very quiet and intimate, and waiters were extremely attentive. I highly recommend the champagne! The soap in the bathroom is by Aesop, so my hands were also so moisturized!

An absolutely incredible experience! We had the pleasure of being there for lunch today and i am afraid I will not do it justice but will try my best!It begins with the delightful choice of ambiance and presentation that joins great taste with creativity. My wife and I then had the pleasure to experience a wealth of new sensory delights in the mix of the Chef's choice of menu for the day. The team at David Toutain are exceptional in their service and attention that reflects the intentional delight of each plate that is served. It kept me completely engaged in wondering what the next experience would be. I had the pleasure of meeting the Chef as well and wanted to congratulate him here and pass on the word to people I know in the USA and throughout the world. If you are in Paris you should not miss out on this marvelous gem of the city of lights! Fantastic!
Be the first to ReplyI can see how David Toutain got it's Michelin Star.
Everything looks beautiful and tasted delicious. We got a lunch reservation for a birthday celebration. It's a set menu, and you can choose from lunch set menu, to 4 , 6 or 8 courses. You won't know what you'll be getting. It's really nice, you enter and they take your coat. And it's a very nice modern interior design, with casual/ business causal customers. The staffs are all very nice, especially Thai, she makes you feel at home, especially for American customers. We started with the Wood of Salsify, it looks like a tree branch, see if you can spot the two among the real tree branches, it's a great way to start the experience. I really enjoyed it, it tasted kind of like potatoes. I love the way they paired their ingredients and how they garnished it. When I'm Paris, I would definitely recommend this place. Great service and I loved our chef signed copy of the menu

Ok, either the best or second best meal I've ever had in my life. Either neck and neck, or just a smidge behind Providence in LA. But really amazing and the food highlight of our trip to Europe. From start to finish it was a combination of excellent service to beautiful presentation, to crazy delicious food.Every course felt like a pleasant surprise and delight. We even had the optional caviar dish, and that might have even been one of the best things we had, but really hard to choose. The string bean purre, how can that even taste like that? A little bit sweet, but a perfect balance with the bean-ish flavor.Look at my pics and you can see the amazing presentation, but you can't imagine the tastes that come with each dish.
Be the first to ReplyHad the lunch tasting menu with the cheapest 80 Euro option.
Don't worry about not getting enough food. We were so full that we could barely eat the desserts. The cheese special turned out to be a 10 Euro option but it was absolutely worth it. Unbelievable umami and texture, really one of the ย best things I've ever had. All the other dishes were also really good. Everything had a special flavor and texture that was presented in a nice modern way. One of the servers was Thai from SF and she was so nice and informative. Got a lot of tips about other places to eat on Paris. I enjoyed this so much more than Alain ducasse at one fifth the price.
