Tasty Vietnamese food
First visit but will be back. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice laid back atmosphere. Really tasty food and big portions. Particularly enjoyed the chicken satay and the pork belly. Chicken pho with purple egg was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing experience with poor service
Disappointing experience. Very lengthy wait between arriving and finally ordering a drink. It was explained that the food would arrive as and when it was ready- this concept only really works with sharing plates, not when you are encouraged to order a starter and a main. For us, it meant again a very lengthy wait between dishes. Half the party had finished their main before others had received their first dish. If it had been explained that they were short staffed, we would have understood. However there was little in the way of an apology or any explanation. We only were afforded the opportunity order a drink once, meaning a long time waiting for dishes with nothing to drink. We won’t be back.

Excellent meal. Fresh, spicy flavours and generous portions which represented great value. Served promptly by friendly staff. Really great.
Be the first to ReplyA real gem. Excellent flavours.
This is a lovely small restaurant with a real buzz. The food is superb, so flavoursome and portion sizes generous. Will definitely return.

We were very taken with the Hanoi Bike Shop. The staff were delightful and the food excellent. The menu was quite wide and varied and we were very happy with the choice.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic banquet feast.
4 friends out to try the banquet menu which didn’t disappoint! Lots of varied dishes with plenty of food, each one was as fresh and delicious as the next. Really not sure why this place has had some bad reviews, we were very happy customers.

Located in the hipster enclave. Had a light lunch of their fishcakes. Was pleasantly surprised at how meaty and springy the fishcakes were (other establishments add too much flour and fillers to cut costs and they end up hard and rubbery). The fishcakes were panfried and crispy on the outside. Friendly service. Industrial/rustic/Viet decor. An enjoyable meal.

Had an anniversary meal here and ordered the banquet tonight. The food was ok but the amount of food we got for £60 was not enough it’s called a banquet but it’s half a main and a couple of starters. Poor quality and disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyGone very downhill - dirty and average food
Bathroom upstairs was disgusting and hadn’t been cleaned all day which was confirmed by cleaning form that didn’t have a single entry at 9pm ( as well as what appeared to be pee and what was definitely toilet paper all over the floor). We had the caramel chicken which came lukewarm, coating soggy yet extremely dry chicken thigh. Someone else in our party had the steak which was okay. Drinks so sweet we couldn’t drink them. The team working seemed disinterested across the board. Will not be back.

The food of The Hanoi Bike Shop was great with some fantastic Vietnamese dishes. The atmosphere was great and the staff very friendly. The sis a good stop when in Glasgow.

I have been to this restaurant many times over the past 10 or so years. It seemed very different. The decor was plain, none of the bright coloured walls and objects hanging from ceiling and walls that were in the past. The menu has changed. The specials board has gone. There were no prawn crackers (sorry we sold out yesterday) The Pho was just ok. There was no fresh coriander and a tiny slice of lime. Service was ok. For somewhere that was so authentic and consistently good in the past it was nothing special and pretty underwhelming.

Booked for lunch on a busy Saturday. As always food spot on but the usual wait for the food. I had the tofu and mushroom pho tasty and filling. Hubby had the caramelised ginger chicken which he said was fab. Beer and wine and bill was £40.

We ordered the banquet for 2 at £30 per person expecting a selection of dishes. What came was 2 meat mains 1 steak charged at £18 and one pork belly dish with 3 pieces of pork. A side dish of stir fried veg and another veg based side. No prawn crackers. No rice. The table behind us also ordered banquet and were served many more dishes. On being given the bill they realised we had not had enough dishes and without giving us the chance to even explain we were refunded £20. Bizarre and disappointing experience. Will not be back.

We visited 3 weeks ago on a Saturday night and waited an hour for our first dish and a further 15 minutes for our second. Our third dish never turned up. We have visited many times over the last 7 years and never experienced anything like this so I can only assume this is due to the recent change in ownership. This delay meant we had to rush our meal in order to make it to the theatre on time. It was therefore only after we arrived home later that evening that we realised the second dish we had received had been incorrect and was actually a lot cheaper than the dish we had ordered and paid for. I contacted the restaurant about this and they offered me a refund for the incorrect dish. However, 3 weeks later I am still waiting on this refund and now appear to be being ghosted by the manager Meg. It was bad enough that we had a bad experience but I'm now stuck emailing/phoning only to be ignored. This is all such a shame as Hanoi was our favourite restaurant in Glasgow! It's clear that they are attempting to run the restaurant with less staff. Whilst the quality of the food seems similar, the more adventurous food options (which really set this place apart) seem to have disappeared from the menu.

This was our third visit to Hanoi Bike Shop. After obtaining advice from a really helpful and knowledgeable member of staff we had a lovely meal once again. The restaurant is quirky and friendly and one of our favourite places to visit in Glasgow. The area is also good with several pubs and we will definitely return when back in Glasgow

4 of us went for dinner whilst visiting Glasgow on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed! The place is very authentically Vietnamese, the staff are very friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. The crispy lotus chips with peasant chilli sauce are a must! And they’re the perfect accompaniment to a jug of Vietnamese margaritas! The dish of the day was the red dragon pork belly but the ca ri and carne chicken were also excellent. It’s well worth finishing off the meal with a coconut espresso martini Excellent night!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible food and service .
We were celebrating a birthday and decided to visit Hanoi Bike Shop after a handful of really great experiences in the past. There were only two staff working and they were clearly overwhelmed, we are a group of friends who have all worked in hospitality so felt sympathetic towards the staff who were clearly stressed. We waited an hour for food and watched tables that had arrived after us eat and leave. We were given free drinks as an apology. When the food arrived (we all ordered Pho) it was bland, tepid and really average in flavour. It was so disappointing to revisit somewhere we have such good memories of serving really exceptional food and really excellent service that is now mediocre at best. We are all easily pleased and not usually the sort of people to complain, but this was a terrible dining experience. Perhaps it is under new management but it was so awful and so different to the last time I was here a few years ago. I feel embarrassed I have recommended here to so many people recently..

Have visited here in the past with mixed success, but thought it was worth a try on a wet and miserable December afternoon. The good points are that the staff were fairly good and they had some heating (something of a novelty in Glasgow in winter). The food was a bit of a let down. The beef pho had a very sweet beef broth with very little in the way of aromatics (basil, corriander, etc). The peanut dip has changed and now tastes of coconut! And the greens side dish was too salty to eat. Oh and the lotus flower crisps were soft and soggy. In summary, decent staff, substandard food. Don’t know if the changes are due to the change in ownership Greene King now own it.

Went for dinner 16/11 with my banquet voucher. Voucher was presented and on the table. I paid my bill without checking, which is my only fault. On inspection of the bill later I noticed the staff did not redeem the voucher. I have since phoned 12 times to sort this out. Each time I’m promised it will be addressed. I’ve also e mailed the voucher to a member of staff as they also promised it would be promptly dealt with. It never was. So not only have I been over charged they now have my voucher. It’s with a heavy heart I post this review but I’ve exhausted every avenue trying to fix this. No one seems to care and the customer service is nonexistent!!!!

Terrible service, expensive, small portions, and disorganised kitchen staff. The good - Nice setting and interesting theme, quirky decor. Waitress was pleasant and explained the menu, but the poor girl serving alone and was run off her feet. The bad: Ordered 2 meals, Apology 1. "No fishcakes". Ok we'll do without. Guy sits at next table 5 minutes later, orders fishcakes and gets them. Partner's meal arrived at 3.10pm. 15 minutes later; it's still the only thing on the table. I ask them to take it back, heat it up and bring both meals at once as we came to eat together, Apology 2. Kitchen staff looked confused as if they've been hit over the head with something. 5 minutes later both arrive together. Apology 3. Small expensive meals eaten. Guy clearing the table drops the cutlery on us. Apology 4. I ask for bill, "sure" he replies. 10 minutes later I have to ask for bill again. Apology 5. The bill arrives and it's completely wrong almost double what it should have been. Apology 6. 6 staff apologies in 1 visit is pretty unacceptable but then having to challenge an £87 bill for an already overcharged £47 meal is taking the pi$$
