Red Paper Clip New York Reviews from The Last Year
Taiwanese-American cuisine tasting menu, one Michelin star
Taiwanese-American cuisine tasting menu, one Michelin star restaurant. I really wish I will like it more but the only dish that stood out to me was the lobster three ways with sticky rice. The pasta with truffle was solid. Service was alright for a Michelin Resturant, and the ambiance was good.

Best food and atmosphere I have ever experienced. A must visit.
In a chill spot of New York City, Red Paper Clip isn't just
In a chill spot of New York City, Red Paper Clip isn't just a restaurant--it's like your cozy hangout spot, packed with awesome surprises. From the second I stepped inside, it felt like I was walking into a friend's place. The vibe was super inviting, and the smell of sizzling spices got me hyped. Oh, and let me tell you about the Betamax cocktail--it's straight-up amazing! And don't even get me started on the testing menu--it's like a food adventure you gotta try. Plus, Chef and owner Kevin? He's the friendliest dude ever! Seriously, my time at Red Paper Clip was next-level awesome from start to finish.
Lovely informal tasting menu
Fantastic value tasting menu, generous staff, exactly what we wanted in New York. The owner is a very humble guy. Great experience in New York.

The BF made a Valentine's Day reservation and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. The meal was well balanced, full of variety, and did not disappoint. There was a wide vegetarian selection for my BF which did not decrease the variety of animal based dishes for me, which I was very happy about. Often times with these tasting menus at other restaurants, the chefs will simply offer more vegetarian dishes for the both of us which is just sad for me. I left very happy and full. We had a 9:30 reservation and dinner service was quick and prompt. The place was packed with lots of other couples.
I would rather give this restaurant a higher review.
The kitchen is preparing an intricate menu in a small space and they mostly pull it off. But I can't say that I found most of the dishes satisfying. The best thing was the yuzu mignonette sauce over the oysters. The fried rice that went with the lobster was also delicious. The rest of the dishes were underwhelming. There are also the standard luxe restaurant upsells, truffle and lobster, which the kitchen does a decent job on but nothing to erase the feeling of their being ubiquitous at other high end restaurants trying to make their business model work with nyc rent. The dishes are served family style which seems de rigeur at the moment. But the shared plates don't come with serving forks or spoons. So this really only works if you are indeed a family or are on a date otherwise it can be annoying to mush around on a shared plate with a friend of a friend that you've just met. The plates also are served on small tables where the servers wait for the guests to rearrange the glasses and plates themselves so they can fit the next dish on the table. That seems to me to be perfectly fine for a modestly priced restaurant in a small space and is often part of the spirit of the place. But here with the steep prices it felt wrong. The restaurant is also noisy with poor acoustics and if you are seating in a banquet you will be sitting on hard plywood for your meal.
Came here for a private wedding party and this place
Came here for a private wedding party and this place absolutely crushed expectations. I would love to come back for a regular dining experience. Their h'ordeuvres were top notch as were the entrees. I must've eaten a pound of there little wagyu skewers they had. And the cocktails were fantastic. This is a great date spot for dinner. Service was impeccable.
Took my bestie there for his birthday since he loves
Took my bestie there for his birthday since he loves tasting menus. Staff is great and accommodating. Food presentation was so artistic. A plus that it is Michelin rated! Not sire about the regular menu however! We will have to go back!
Honestly it was mediocre.
Not worth the money. So many similarly priced one-star Michelin star restaurants are so much better. I was hoping for the best after reading the reviews, but unfortunately I'd say it's a miss. Recommend Kochi, Mari, Jua. Any of those are so much better.
Very cozy spot.
Great service. Beautifully plated dishes. The food was good to very good but I don't think it's better than many nyc restaurants that don't have a Michelin star. Food: Amuse - oysters were delicious; the caviar on potato was good too Salmon on brioche - very, very good Squash and winter veggies - surprisingly good Cavatelli - delicious XLB Agnolotti - a bit on the salty side and didn't have much flavor otherwise Lobster three ways - liked the poached way the best so beautifully cooked and executed Squash dessert - good
Great value Michelin experience in NYC
Fantastic restaurant. Great menu, great staff, amazing owner, very good value menu. We had a great experience here, looked after by the staff and owner. It is not an expensive tasting menu but they still put too quality produce in like lobster and freshly shaved truffles. Wine pairing was generous and interesting
Michelin experience
This one Michelin star restaurant is really worth visiting if you want a Michelin experience. Tasting menu is totally worth it 90$ + drinks. Tastes are amazing. Although place isn’t as fancy as expected. You can go with simple clothes and the service is not that personal as many of the better restaurants in NYC. Totally worth it and even got full (not expected from a Michelin portions)
