Here is a place I would consider going to if you - Appreciate the food that is in season and local (only from Switzerland and mostly around Zürich or from Zürich) - If you are open to experience a menu without spices, pepper, chocolate or coffee (because these ingredients are not local) - If you look for a simple, private and attentive service without being overwhelmed - If you like to explore a selection of exceptional quality of Swiss wineries that align with sustainable practises
A very well-rounded evening!
When we arrive at Rechberg, we first have to ring the bell. Unusual, but it increases the excitement for what will hopefully be a lovely evening. We are greeted in a friendly manner, hand in our jackets and are led to our table. The menu - we let the pictures speak for themselves with the many excellent courses - focuses on vegetables. Meat and fish eaters don't have to do without them completely, but meat and fish are not the main characters on the plates. The menu is accompanied by wines exclusively made up of Swiss wines. As we hesitate for a moment, the service reacts promptly and offers us half a wine pairing. This doesn't mean that we can't get to know all the wines, they just pour us half. We're in and this is perfect for us on this evening. Many people are committed to regionality and sustainability, but here this is consistently lived out. Guests should consider this beforehand, because they have to (be able to) do without chocolate in their dessert or coffee. When we say goodbye, there is a small pot with an in-house spice mix. That stays in your memory and the Rechberg stays on your tongue when you get home. Overall, a perfect restaurant experience. Of course, the excellent kitchen performance was part of that, but in particular the friendly service and the many well-thought-out details made it a very successful dinner that we would happily recommend.
Never again
The food was good. Always specially prepared. Price was far too high. Wine accompaniment not worth it. There wasn't even an aperitif. An additional glass of wine was also charged. At that price?!?! We paid almost 600 for two people!! Explanations about the food and wine sounded like they had read them out. Actually, I wanted to treat my brother to a gourmet meal together. But I decided against it.
DISAPPOINTMENT
First of all I want to warn that this opinion is aimed especially at the Spanish public. This is a restaurant with Michelin star prices anywhere in Spain and the service and food does not correspond to the same. First of all, they do not present you with the tasting menu that they are going to serve you, the different wines that they will serve you during the meal, all, I mean all, whites, reds, Sherry, etc., in the same glass with which you have started dinner. The cutlery is not changed at any time either. The fish that we got was pike, a fish that is not usually eaten in Spain and the meat, even though it was said to be beef, was three very small and very tough strips. In favor of saying that they have a good preparation and presentation of the dishes. As I said, be careful, especially for us Spaniards who have a different fish culture and think that the bill is not going to have anything to do with what was expected.

The Rechberg restaurant is worth a visit. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice and inviting. The welcome was warm and the staff is very attentive. We chose the 7-course menu with local specialties, which was excellent. We also had the wine pairing with Swiss wines. There were exciting explanations of the wines for each course. We would not book the wine pairing again, however, as the Swiss wines were too special and rather sour for us, but of course this is a matter of taste. Another note: We were given a fine Swiss sparkling wine (champagne) to start with, so we assumed that it was part of the menu. However, it was billed separately without this being clear. Please communicate clearly that the aperitif must be paid for separately. Overall, we really enjoyed the evening and the atmosphere and can definitely recommend the restaurant.
Simply "top" again!
We were here again after 3 years - and it was a real pleasure. As expected, the menu was excellent again. We were able to experience many exciting creations. The philosophy of the dishes is unique and we thought every course tasted extremely good. And a friendly, cheerful team - what more could you want? We will definitely be back!
A must try restaurant …
➡️ @aDJinZurich 14.10.2023 With 15 Gault&Millau points and a Michelin Green Star, The Rechberg 1837 is a gorgeous restaurant with a unique philosophy – „Our innovative dishes contain no artificial aids, and exclusively uses regional produced ingredients and doesn’t have pepper, spices from overseas, olive oil nor chocolate!“. My partner and I were intrigued. We started our evening dinner with some Aperitif. My partner had champagne and I ordered a Negroni. Oh the same philosophy also applies to the beverages. My partner‘s champagne is from Zurich and my fabulous Negroni uses Weisflog (a Swiss liqueur) instead of Campari. Even our end of dinner „espresso“ is Lupin coffee, a healthier alternative to the usual thing and it is produced in Switzerland too. Rechberg 1837, only offers tasting menu. Either a 7 or 4 courses menu and we opted for the latter. The dishes from start to the end of our dinner didn’t disappoint. Each and every dish was extremely delicious and brilliantly created. Bravo, Mr. Carlos! My partner and I enjoyed our dinner and the warm and cosy atmosphere, bundled together with outstanding service makes Rechberg 1837 a must try restaurant. I will definitely return.

It depends how far out in the future your reservation is. If you posted a reservation hat was 2 months out, it’s unlikely many people will view your reservation. It could also be that your reservation is just not desirable.
