Raoul's New York Reviews from The Last Year
This is what a bistro in New York City should be.
The place was packed but somehow cozy. Noisy yet somehow intimate. We had a world-class experience. The salad frisee was lovely, the steak au poivre was perfection, as were the fries, and the wine we chose from their wonderful wine list (I recommend their Bordeaux selections) was served at the right temperature, which is a huge deal if you are a wine aficionado. The service was great-- Naomi was quick, funny, and delightful. Is it expensive? Sure, but my goodness what a treat and well worth it. This will have been the first of many visits going forward.
Raouls
I grew up going to Raouls before I could legally drink. Had my first Bordeaux here in the early 90s. Also had my first frisée salad, escargot, and steak au poivre here as well. I still order the same whenever I go back. They used to have a tarot reader upstairs by the bathroom but I haven’t seen her the last couple times. The place is packed with photos and art that was traded for food. Thomas Keller used to work here! It’s a true classic. As OG as it gets!

I cut into it before snapping the pic, but it was absolutely fantastic. A little heavy on the peppercorn, but it gave it a nice kick. The service and vibe were amazing as well. A small space but it hit all the right marks!
Snagged a last minute resy for Sunday brunch.
Burger hack: usually their legendary burger is limited at the bar only. On weekends there is no limits and folks comfortably walked in with no reservations table and bar at 11. Speaking of the burger, this was a tasty creation with au poivre sauce served on the side. You're told to dip the burger in the sauce. Definitely worth it. This was a juicy bite. I wasn't thrilled with the fries, compared to belthazar or minetta tavern but nothing I'd send back. Worth coming back for more
Amazing service & food.
Steak frites was everything I hoped it would be. Might be my favorite spot in NYC.

I have been going to Raoul's since a teenager in the 80s and remember eating in the garden when you had to walk-through the kitchen. The food was always good. The vibe was always warm and there were a lot of regulars up through the 90s in early 2000s. Something happened post Covid I don't know if it's Instagram or some other societal change that I've missed. It's no longer worth the money. The food is good enough and to be sitting around a bunch of people taking photos for Instagram that makes me want to vomit. Somehow, Raoul's now reminds me of Bitcoin at $70,000, a bubble that's going to burst

Upon walking into Raoul's, you know it's going to be a great time. The restaurant is fairly small, very crowded, and spacious all at the same time. The service was very friendly and the food was excellent. We ordered the Maine lobster tortellini for an appetizer, and each got the steaks. The tortellini is a very small portion, but was delicious. Next time, I want to try the steak tartare. The steak au poivre was highly recommended & did not disappoint. The peppercorn heavy sauce is unique and tasty. I wish we were able to try their famous burger, but I believe it's very limited availability at the bar only. Reservations release on Resy at 8am 30 days in advance.
I had been dying to try the burger for a year.
Therefore, I decided to visit for a Sunday brunch at 2/25. The burger itself is perfect. Cooked to medium rare, balanced between crust and juicy. But what takes it to another level is the gravy. It should be a wine base, with bouillon de boeuf, which is a huge beefy compound that enhances flavor of the burger. The bistro is a bit too dark for a brunch vibe. However, I was not on a date, it did not bother me at all. I requested to seated at the bar to not occupy a table for two. The bartender was so welcoming and friendly. He constantly check if everything is fine. Although sometime I was soaking in the burger so that I kinda hesitated to respond Lol. After all, this comes to the top of my burger rank in the city.

Loved Raoul's! Got an early res on a friday at 5:30 through beli. Ordered the bread to start, the ham croquettes, steak au poivre for the entree and ended with their apple tartine dessert. The steak was cooked perfectly and the pepper sauce was 10/10
Raoul's fulfilled my expectations.
We sat next to a fish tank which immediately improved the vibe. The martini I got was just the way I like it (lemon twist vermouth rinse with kettle one). The escargot was delicious. The steak and frites were so yummy with the sauce. It is expensive so keeping it for a special occasion might be a good idea. Our server was great and spoke French.

Nice brunch today! Had mimosa trio - pear, strawberry, and mango purée and a bottle of champagne. We shared amongst 4. Must get. My husband and son got the burger. I and my son's girlfriend ordered the chicken schnitzel. The stand out aspect was the professional, helpful amd attentive wait staff. Great food and atmosphere.
Great Vibe
Raoul's is a great vibe, food is slightly above average but always a good time
Food Is Well Executed And Solid.
Raouls in the Soho Building is a classic French restaurant. The wait to score a seat here is ludicrous. It has been around since the 70's and survived all things disastrous in NYC and just seems to get better with time although there is no Michelin Star on the horizon. Raouls offers fine steak, fish and Alsation cuisine in a cozy, friendly atmosphere. The dinner menu sports classics like: Maine Lobster Tortellini, the signature Steak au Poivre, Pasta Al Ceppo with braised Lamb and the much sought after, French-styled house Cheeseburger. I devoured my Cod with Scallops & Shrimp, with gusto. The food here is well executed and solid.
A Fun Night of Food, Drink & Conversation
We had a great night at Raoul's ! We showed up without reservations. The place was absolutely slammed. We ordered drinks at the bar and bided our time on the second floor up the winding staircase. There is comfy seats up there where you can have your tarot cards read. Once our seats were ready at the bar we made our way down. We were served throughout the night by the charming Angus. There was a crush all around us having a good time ordering bottles of champagne. We tucked into frisée salad, roast chicken, mussels with frites & a very delicious bottle of Bouvier Marsanny white. All the dishes were simply prepared and spot on. The staff were friendly. Everyone around us at the bar were very approachable in striking up conversation. I think you'll enjoy yourself here.
Perfection
Great Birthday Dinner for my boyfriend. Service was excellent, entrees were flavorful and good portion size. Would highly recommend.
🤩
The service was impeccable. From the moment we walked in, we felt well taken care of by the attentive and friendly staff.
Delicious. Love the atmosphere.
Sincerely, I have no idea where to begin. It's hard to put into words how great my four-course lunch at the Modern was, but the cuisine was excellent. Unquestionably, it was my best experience at this restaurant for excellent dining.
Not good enough at that price
We’ve been going to this restaurant for years on every trip to NY but this time we were very disappointed. I ordered the seared foie gras at €36. My husband and I were going to share it and thank goodness we didn’t as you practically needed a magnifying glass to see it. A very small portion though it tasted good. My husband was happy with his oysters. Then I had lobster risotto $56 which was claggy in texture and covered in Parmesan which should never be added to an Italian seafood dish. It was also very salty. My husband ordered the dover sole at $76 as it is his favourite fish. He expected a whole fish but instead he got a pile of smaller fillets. Again not great. The bill with 2 beers and one cocktail was $260. We will not be rushing back although the place was full so presumably most customers are happy.
Go to Raoul’s!
Definitely check out Raoul’s if you’re in SoHo. Our dinner was extremely enjoyable. Our waitress (didn’t catch her name she was blonde and had a really great sense of humor!) was awesome, she was super friendly and gave us great suggestions. You can’t go wrong eating here! We went on a Wednesday night, didn’t make reservations but we were able to snag a seat in their outdoor area which was a cool NY experience.
Institution
I love this place and I come every time I visit New York. It’s classic French with a New York vibe. It’s the grandmaster at this. I’ve had to dock it a mark this time for overcooking my steak. It’s only fair. Still love it.
PASS
Way too overpriced! Snobby attitude at the front; very dismissive. Food was just o.k. Tons of better French places in NYC. Would not recommend this place; would not go back! On top of that, the atmosphere is misogynistic. HARD PASS.
a soho institution
Everything is delicious, service is feisty.
Great neighbourhood spot, even if their burger is sold out
I was staying in an Airbnb in SoHo and noticed most of the small restaurants in the area were on the west side of SoHo, with the chi-chi shops further east. There were more than a dozen dining spots in a 2 block radius of my apartment, and noticed Raoul's always had a line before its 5 pm opening. I would later discover the line was for its coveted burger, served only at the bar and apparently limited to 12 per day. I was unable to book a reservation here, but scored a spot at the bar long past the time when the burgers sold out. The restaurant, like pretty much all in the area, is small and narrow. The pandemic afforded many places additional outdoor seating, which still remains. I noticed Spring St. is closed to traffic on weekends to allow for even more outdoor dining space on that street. I had a daiquiri, the crab beignets, the steak au poivre and the banana bread pudding cake. Everything was very good to excellent, with the steak being my favourite. Service was good despite the crowds (2 seep at the bar). Didn't need to use the restroom since I was staying so close. Great neighbourhood spot!

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
