This place blew me away.
If you live remotely in the area you need to come as soon as possible. Beautiful interior, great service, and the food was just a flavor explosion in the best way possible. The passionfruit with cinnamon dessert is most likely the best ice cream I have ever tasted.

While many of our friends LOVE this place, my husband and I just don't get it. To us, for what it is, it's over priced and not worth our money. Keep in mind that we are not foodies so perhaps our palettes simply don't appreciate the artistry. Our experience has been consistent across the three visits. The menu changes seasonally and we've been during three different seasons. I've never had anything there that I had to have again.

My husband & I are Livermore locals & this was our first time coming to Range Life. My first impressions were that I loved the space & how cute it was. The staff were very friendly & we opted to sit at the bar since we didn't have reservations. The drinks & apps that my husband & I ordered were really good. They change the menu daily & all ingredients are locally and ethically sourced which is awesome. We loved our drinks & apps more than our mains but we definitely will be back to try more things!

We dined with friends who had never been. All the dishes were prepared well. Between the four of us we ordered three appetizers and five entrées as well as cocktails. We originally booked the patio as it was the last reservation ( you must have a reservation for prime times). The patio is not as appealing as the inside- definitely an area of improvement is needed. The cocktails were interesting and well balanced. The food here is always well-prepared. The bread is made on site and is an extra charge. If you love bread, don't miss out. The craft cocktails are a bit herbaceous for me. I feel the drink menu has changed over time. It is difficult to dine here without a reservation, at prime times, don't bother just walking in. A memorable dessert was the cream with honey comb, so simple yet incredible.

Very glad we did. I ordered the pork chop, very flavorful, juicy, and cooked just right, best I had for a long time. The flat bread was sprinkled with cheese and other spice, so tasty and soft and melted in my mouth. Tried a piece of smoked chicken my friend ordered, very juicy and flavorful. The service was top notch. Overall I gave this place a A. Well done.

I don't think there's anything else quite like this in Livermore. If you're looking for a nice dinner out, I definitely recommend this place. It's like a little taste of the city here in your back yard. The service is friendly, the vibes are cool and trendy, and the food is always amazing. Everything tastes super fresh and you can see all the effort put into every dish. It's on the pricier side, but it's worth it. The menu seems to be always be seasonal and is always slightly changing week to week, which I think just goes to show how they work with fresh ingredients.
Be the first to ReplyWe came for a post Mother's Day weeknight celebration.
Food was absolutely wonderful, and big portions! We had the scamorza cheese fritto, which was what mozzarella sticks and marinara want to be when they grow up haha. The batter was light and crunchy, and the cheese was magically melty without being piping hot. We also had the rabbit sausage, which was delicious and juicy, but with the spices I couldn't distinguish that it wasn't pork. We got the halibut, pork chop, and steak. All tasted great, and were well complimented with their sauces and sides. If you're on a keto diet, the pork chop seemed perfect, only sweetness was from sour cherries, and the sides were a cheesy greens blanket. The fava bean seemed to be highlighted in tonight's menu, we had it in the risotto accompanying the halibut, and quite liked it! And now onto the drinks! We had a few cocktails, the non alcoholic buckthorn spritz - all had some fun and thoughtful mixology behind it. The most interesting was a bright green "under trees" with green pea. It was earthy and vegetably - not everyone's cup of tea - but I quite liked it! We finished off with tea and for dessert a coconut cinnamon sorbet, which was reminiscent of frozen horchata. My family loved it and looks forward to coming again and exploring the seasonal menu items! Definitely a gem in downtown Livermore!

Food is excellent. The drinks are even better, the juices for the cocktails are made in house. Highly recommend!

I recently dined at a restaurant in Livermore, and it was an amazing experience. We sat out on the back patio, where they offer blankets at the tables, which was a nice touch. Server requested all of our food to be ordered at once. It came out in a timely manner which was appreciated; it kept our table from being overly full. We indulged in two starters, two appetizers, two entrées, and two desserts, allowing us to sample a variety of their offerings. Although everything tasted high-quality, the pork chop was a bit disappointing. It had a diner-like quality and pretty dry, Sauce on the side was almost like franks hot sauce. I would not order this again. However, apart from that, I have no other complaints. This place is fantastic and definitely worth trying. Their cocktails were great, and I highly recommend their cab franc.

The food was amazing! We had Wingen bread with salted butter, was delicious and freshly baked. We had the Beef Tartare, OMG it was so delicious, first time we ever have had it! Definitely a must have! For our entree we ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken! This was the best fried chicken I've ever had! It was so crispy and moist and juicy! Last but not least, we had Milk and Honey for dessert! Would have never known that olive oil would taste so delicious with malted ice cream and burnt honeycomb! Our meal was amazingly delicious! The staff were all very friendly and the service was EXCELLENT! The staff always came to check on you and our glasses were never empty! The Ambiance was very pleasant! We will definitely be coming back again!
Be the first to ReplyBeen here every time I visit my son.
About 7 times. Don't know what was going on this visit on a Monday night. We sat at our table for 15 minutes before anyone came up to ask for a drink or food order. Then everything was rather curt with the service. The food also was not as good as previous visits. Overall disappointing.

My husband and I went to dinner at Range Life while on vacation in California. We went here two years ago and loved it the first time around. Range Life is a small restaurant that serves elevated California-style food. We started out with cocktails. I had the Fantastic Voyage, which is a mezcal grapefruit drink with guava, pomegranate and a sprinkling of cinnamon on top. Oh my!!! My husband had the Atlas, a bourbon drink. I started out with the oyster appetizer. Yum! I could've eaten a dozen of those fresh juicy oysters. They slipped down my throat way too easily. So good! My husband had the warm panzanella asparagus salad, and I had the Caesar salad. Panzanella salad is a Tuscan-type salad with bread. It was creative and tasty and my husband enjoyed it. My Caesar salad was so overdressed and had so much cheese that it was off-putting. My bad as I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side like I usually do. I didn't finish it because it was too much. It would have been perfect with less dressing and cheese as the dressing was good. My husband ordered the pork chop milanese that had a panko crust for his entree. He ate that whole thing and it was huge, so I'm pretty sure he liked it. I had the beef tartare appetizer for my entrée. We had shared this appetizer two years ago, and I absolutely loved it so I had to order it again all for myself. The sirloin steak was tender and flavorful and the bread was grilled perfectly. The best! Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we had the nicest server with the coolest name, Lucky. She was great! Make sure to make reservations as this is a very small restaurant and popular.
Be the first to ReplyService was very attentive.
Back porch was very nice, it was slightly chilly but the wait staff supplied a heater. Food was wonderful. We had the oyster and Caesar Salad as starters. Hog Island oyster were very fresh and delicious. As the main entree we had the halibut and skirt steak. The halibut hasd a very crusty outside and the fish was cooked perfectly, the sauce was very good as well. The skirt steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was scrumptious.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was phenomenal.
Cooked to perfection and it was obvious that the ingredients are high end. The mixed drinks were masterful. To top it all off, our server was fantastic. So attentive, polite, and energetic. Don't let the storefront fool you, this place is a five star experience

Be the first to ReplyWe came here for my birthday, it was our first time.
We made a reservation a week ahead and got sat in the back patio on a cold night. They had heaters and blankets available which was nice. The food was good, some dishes were a hit or miss. I would come back just to give it one more try. Maybe the indoor experience will be better than outdoors. The server was nice.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food.
Ingredients speak for themselves. Loved the lamb belly, beef tartare, cod, and blintz

Very rarely do I have an experience where every single dish has impressed me. Quality ingredients make a massive difference. Everything was so simple, but so freaking delicious . Broccoli soup, flatbread, lamb ribs, sole, chicken, and milk ice cream. Wow . I will, definitely, be back.

Great service, good cocktails but the food was underwhelming. A few people we know raved about this place so we were disappointed.

Came back here for grandmas birthdayThe potato bread and the cheese appetizer (forget what kind) are always a go to and soooo tastyThis time we also got the lamb chops appetizer which is genuinely my new favoriteThe scallops we ordered were good, but they unpictured the CHICKEN was soooo good. Not very common I say that in a review. I'd say the chicken steak and scallop were all tasty main options but the chicken was somehow the standout. My drink , a bourbon based drink with egg whites (she...something rainbows) was also quite good. This place is such a blessing to the tri valley food scene and I hope this calls for more restaurants of this caliber to show up around the area.

Finally had the pleasure of dining here this evening and wow, was it worth the wait (and money!) This place is pricey, but you get what you pay for. The service was amazing. Friendly host, who greeted and seated us immediately (with reservations), and the servers were attentive, helpful and very nice. We started with the potato flatbread and fritto cauliflower and onion - both were delicious. For dinner I devoured my scallops while hubby enjoyed flat iron steak. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The highlight was their sourdough churro for dessert.... It had a spicy finish that was just enough to get your attention... I will now lovingly refer to it as the "S&M" dessert, as it was a little bit of pain and pleasure to my tongue :) I would also like to mention their bartender made superb drinks - we both ordered cocktails (not on the menu) and they were amazing. Just the way we like them. Can't wait to go back.

We went here for our anniversary and they gave us personalized menus...talk about small details to make an experience level up! The food was great and the staff was awesome. We had requested to sit outside but they have flimsy chairs and tables which we didn't like, there were also flies everywhere. They had fans going to try and keep them away but they didn't help. They very quickly moved us inside with no issues, which we very much appreciated. We had the fried potato flatbread which was heaven, the salmon crudo which melted in your mouth, and I had the chicken and my husband had the steak. Everything was top notch and honestly the entire experience was amazing.

What an amazing dining experience that sets a bar for Livermore! I went to celebrate my birthday with friends this past weekend. We ordered a little bit of many items on the menu to share. Everyone was blown away with each dish. Very thoughtfully seasoned, sauced and textured. MMMMMM. We all said we will definitely go back. Only 1 flaw - my cocktail came with a plastic straw. C'mon now, Range Life.Note: The outdoor patio is adorable - they even have blankets to wrap up with when it gets chilly.
Be the first to ReplyOur first visit here was a disaster.
Our second visit was somewhat improved but still not a great visit. This time, however, they were so much better that it really didn't even feel like the same restaurant! Similar to our previous 2 visits, we were a party of 3 couples. We dine together at least monthly and we kept hearing/seeing great reviews on this place. So, we decided to try it, again. This is what my wife and I had on this visit: WINGEN BAKERY BREAD oregon sea salt & butter / $6 CASHIWASHE STONEFRUITS stracciatella cheese, garlic scape, toasted hazelnut, genovese basil / $17 KLINGEMAN RANCH HAM CHOP front porch red flint polenta, castelfranco radicchio & roasted aprium / $36 GRASS FED FLAT IRON STEAK lacinato kale, olive oil potatoes, tarragon hotel butter & shasta porcini sauce / 48 POSSET eureka & meyer lemon pudding, dirty girl strawberry & wild pecans / 10The bread was excellent - crispy crust and a chewy, interesting interior. The Flat Iron Steak was great - very tender and a really good, beefy flavor. The Stonefruit salad was outstanding - so good that I didn't mind the premium price and the kitchen split it for us. My Ham Chop was also very good - lightly smoked with good ham flavor and juicy. The other 2 couples also were very happy and we all agreed that it was worth coming back for the food and great service. We were seated outdoors in their beautiful, enclosed, back patio. It is really gorgeous and very relaxing. Of special interest was the Pepper Tree that became a part of their wooden fence - see the photo. :-)Yes, it's pricey but I think we got our money's worth!Jim
