One of the best fun meals that I have ever had.
Loved the tiger prawns, garlic clams and edible crab.
Be the first to ReplyNice restaurant that serves lots of seafood and also steak.
The place just feels busy, especially with a dozen servers and cooks huddling in the kitchen area. Our server wasn't that talkative but he was efficient. We had wine and beer with the bread plate to start. For dinner we ordered the steak sandwich and spicy shrimp. Both were good dishes but nothing outstanding.

If you plan on having dinner here you'll need a reservation or wait for hours for a table to open up; The other option is to just come early and just walk in. I came at 6 and just walked in no problem. I think if you come for lunch it might be the same, but if you want to go for dinner 7pm or later a reservation is an absolute must or be prepared to wait hours. (the website at the time was not correct, just google the restaurant for access to their reservations) We got the Scarlet prawns, tiger shrimp, garlic shrimp and edible crab. We ask if they had razor clams but they were out. There was buttered bread on the table, they charge a little over 3โฌ, so if you don't want it ask them to take it away. You can order plain bread for cheaper and butter if you want, but I think if you order the garlic shrimp you can just use that as your butter, it was delicious we kept the butter to dip the bread in even after we ate all the shrimp. The star of the evening was the Scarlet prawns, they were huge, and grilled whole, be sure to suck the juice out of the head, it tasted like lobster. They were very thick and meaty. The tiger shrimp were also good, they were split in half and grilled with butter. They were perfectly cooked. The cold edible crab, you can order them deshelled so that all the work is done for you or in the shell which is a little cheaper, the major parts are cracked but the shell is very thick and they give you plastic mallets so you'll have to hit them very hard and shells will go flying. It was good and fun hammering them. The top shell of the crab also comes with a crab dip which you can use with the bread. We were told to try the Prego, a steak sandwich for dessert, which is what they did on Anthony Bourdain; but we were so full that we didn't have room for it. It was the most pricy meal on my Portugal trip, but it was all seafood so it was expected. Overall a very fresh and delicious seafood meal. All my Anthony Bourdain meals in portugal were a big hit. Be sure to make a reservation or just come anytime before 6, when we left there was a long wait at the bar area.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I were excited to snag a reservation here
My husband and I were excited to snag a reservation here for 5 pm during the week while visiting Lisbon. We ordered the cold prawns, the deshelled crab, and the clams in garlic butter (not pictured), and a half bottle of Vino Verdhe and one of the desserts. All of the entrees l tasted right-out-of-the-sea fresh and came to the table very quickly in increments as it was ready. We really loved the clams in butter and garlic, and dipping the bread in the sauce was to die for. I wish they brought plain bread to the table instead of the pre-buttered bread (which was delicious but VERY heavy). I wish they had more vegetables or side options you could order. The meal felt a bit one noted (and that note was just fish). The prawns were good but the eggs on all of them freaked us out when deshelling lol. I probably wouldn't order these again. My husband also last minute ordered the steak sandwich --he said it was the best he'd ever had. Crab was delicious and fresh, but I think it tastes better when you have to de-shell it yourself so wish we did that instead. Lovely place! Pricey but a fun dinner while in Lisbon.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely make a reservation.
This place gets packed. Even if you make a reservation as a couple, you'll likely share a long table with another couple (but with an empty chair in between). They have an online QR menu code. If you need an English menu, click on the British flag. My husband and I ordered almost everything. We tried barnacles for the first time. The Scarlett prawns were expensive but so good. The spider crab was flavorful, and they give you a mallet to open up the legs. There will be lots of hammering sounds and some flying pieces of crab around you since this is one of their most popular dishes. Service is efficient and friendly. Staff taught us how to get the meat out of the barnacles and opened up our Scarlett prawns for us. Note that the staff will automatically put a bread basket on your table. This is not complementary. We left it on the side and asked the staff to take away because we did not want to fill up on bread and did not want to be charged for it.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a tourist spot.
The food is good but not spectacular. It's in a good area and it is what you would expect for a tourist hot spot.

Considering the hype about this place , this is a Very overated place , more like a tourist trap . I have taste a lot of much better seafood all over Asia and USA . Price is pretty steep . If you are very into seafood and food and has travelled a lot in asia and California , Boston area ; this place won't amaze you . I suggest you save your money and stomach to eat other place along your walking . No need to specifically make time to come here .

Got lucky at lunch time, got seated without "No Reservations" Food came out quick, menu items was direct (point and shoot)... quick service... tourists and locals all in the mix... 120-ish for what we ordered.
Be the first to ReplyFirst stop after hopping off from the airport.
It was around 2 o'clock. I decided to take the subway from the airport. I didn't have a reservation, so I was ready to wait and expected a long line. There was no line when I came and the host took me to the 2nd floor dining room near the kitchen. I was by myself and shared a table with another couple. My only problem was that the room was quite warm. I didn't want to take my jacket since I was sweating from walking with my heavy backpack. Mind you, I had just spent 16 hours flying from California and hadn't had a chance to shower. So I kept the jacket on me. Anyway, short story. I ordered the barnacles, rock crab, garlic shrimp, and lobster, a couple of breads, and a glass of ice-cold beer. Life was good. Foods were delicious and the waitress was very nice and efficient. By the way, didn't I mention the room was warm? It didn't help that I had to keep smashing those crabs with the hammer. If you are used to eating Dungeness crab, this one is different. You gotta smash it hard to get to the meat. Will I ever come back? In a heartbeat. The food was so good, seriously. BTW, for all of those, I only spent ~ 65 Euro. Good deal really.

I would like to say that this place is overpriced and over rated. Noisy due to crowd and people curiosity to try this restaurant.

My wife and I tried to go here last (Friday) night without a reservation at the height of Portuguese dinner time - 8 pm, and only lasted 30 minutes before we bailed and went to another (unnamed) place nearby. It was just okay. Cervejaria Ramiro is more than okay - way more. On our second attempt we showed up at 5:10, just after they opened for dinner and only had to wait 15 minutes before we were seated. We had heard from our food tour guide a couple days prior that their food was good but the service wasn't very good. Maybe we just lucked out tonight (Saturday night) but we were very well taken care of, almost as if we were the late Anthony Bourdain, or Phil from Somebody Feed Phil. The menu was on a QR code link, but neither my wife nor I could load it. One of the younger waiters came over, changed some of our settings, and we were in business. The menu has pictures so if you're thrown by the Portuguese you can just point to a picture and say "I want this!" Or you can point AND try to say it in likely-mangled Portuguese. We did a combination of both and got:Serrano ham (superb, freshly shaved off of a whole ham) -- yum!Spot prawns in garlic butter sauce (also superb)Two small beers and two bottles of lemon rattlerBarnacles (first time to try them and I'm now a fan)Boiled prawns (simply delicious)Edible crab (this was spectacular and reminded us both of Jonah crab, but we could eat the whole beast, not just one claw)Lemon sorbet with vodkaFreshly sliced mangoI highly recommend this place, but here are a couple of things you should know:It's super popular, so make a reservation, go early, or be okay with a long waitIt's not a typical Portuguese restaurant with sardines and cod cakes -- just lots of fresh, reasonably priced seafoodOh and our price for all of that yumminess? Just a hair over 100 .

Absolutely exceeded expectations! Every dish was delicious, and the servers were friendly and attentive. Definitely worth making a reservation in advance, there was a fairly long queue when we showed up on a Saturday at around 7p, but we were seated as soon as we got there. They have a few different rooms where you can be seated. We ended up in a room with 2 larger parties, but it didn't feel overwhelming. We had a view of the kitchen, and had a blast watching all the dishes come out. We ordered the garlic shrimp, the king prawns, and the steak sandwich. It's hard to pick a favorite, but the shrimp just barely beats out the others. Our waiter gave us some complimentary port at the end of our meal. Highly recommend!

One of the most incredible seafood experiences we have ever had. Our favorites were the scarlet prawn and the giant tiger prawns. They were absolute perfection. The edible crab dip was also incredible with bread, though one of our main critiques was that the plastic hammer was not the best tool for cracking the crab legs and resulted in a lot of waste of crab meat. Important to be aware of the wait beforehand-- we waited for over two hours for a table (arrived at 8pm and got a table around 10:30pm) -- there is a waiting area to get drinks and cocktails and snacks while waiting but plan your night around this. Once in, the service is very quick.
Be the first to ReplyIt is worth the hype and the wait.
You must try the Carabineiros, Gambรกs Al Ajilo, Percebes, Sapateira!
Be the first to ReplyFive stars for the food and one star for the experience.
Strictly shell fish protein which I loved. But waiting two hours to be seated was not enjoyable.

Amazing seafood place with a nice indoor / outdoor covered patio. Great for a nice dinner.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and fresh seafood.
A cozy and great restaurant to check out on my trip to Lisbon. I was delighted with the fact that the server educated me on how to eat sea barnacles properly! The place is bustling, and for good reason.
Be the first to ReplyFirst off, to make reservations at this establishment
First off, to make reservations at this establishment requires a deposit of โฌ25 per person in your party. This deposit amount will be deducted off your check. We didn't make reservations but wanted to try them out for a late lunch. No wait at 2pm so we walked in and sat down. We ordered butter bread, garlic clams, razor clams, grilled giant prawns, pink shrimps, barnacles, spider crab and the (beef)tenderloin bifana. Razor Clams & garlic clams were delicious. Barnacles are chewy and served cold, something I would try once and not worth repeating, now the grilled giant prawns, bit salty and on the dry side like it was twice cooked. Pink shrimps were okay, served room temperature (not hot or warm) When we were half way into our meal, the server came to our table with a LIVE spider crab to show us the size, we did thumbs up, he brought it back to kitchen to cook. 10 minutes later server provided us each a small mallet & board and another 10 minutes later followed by THE spider crab...it was like refrigerated COLD? And it didn't taste FRESH as if just cooked. For such an expensive crab, not worth the money or effort to eat this crab. I've Tasted better crab dishes in other parts of the world. And as I looked around the restaurant, everyone pounding with a mallet doesn't look like city locals....I guess only the tourists were foolish enough to order that spider crab. Overall, we had a good time at lunch and the server was very nice. I would recommend if in Lisbon but skip the expensive grilled giant prawns and spider crab.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific place for fresh sea food.
The ambiance is a bit chaotic but fun. The service is quick. We tried barnacles for the first time they tasted like muscles. The claims in garlic sauce with cilantro was fantastic. We had some spiny shell things which I can't remember what they are called. The menu is digital with pictures which helps in ordering.

Was very excited to try this place after seeing Somebody Feed Phil, but unfortunately it was a huge mistake to eat here the night before my flight back to the US. Spent half the flight in the bathroom, severely food poisoned ... first thought it was something I ate on the plane, but when I landed and talked to my friends staying a few extra night, all but one were super sick too. Guess who wasn't sick? The person that skipped the lobster at this restaurant ... later read a bunch of reviews around the same time period that we visited that stated that they got food poisoning after visiting. Super disappointing, especially because the thought of lobster (which I love) now makes me sick just thinking about eating it ... I guess risk it if you want, but don't do it the night before the flight or if you have plans next day.

Wow, is this Three Star review going to stick out like a sore thumb. I am sooooooo in the minority here, I seem foolish even attempting to write a terse word about this restaurant institution! But, here it goes anyway:Cervejaria Ramiro, here in Lisbon, has been around since 1956, has a worldwide following, and is revered in the world of crustaceans. They do not take reservations, and a 45-minute wait for a table is totally normal. They own this city, and for good reason; it's very good.Excuse this pun, but Ramiro's restaurant "walks on water"!But, here's the rub - if by chance you don't feel like shrimp, lobster, clams, oysters, or another creature in a shell, you shouldn't come. This was my problem last night. First off, I had a wonderful dinner the previous night consisting of scallops and prawns. I actually felt like a salmon steak this night and a salad. Well, much to my chagrin Ramiro's doesn't have anything green here and nothing that swims. I know what you're thinking, why did I come here and wait an hour for a table if they had nothing I wanted to eat. Simple answer; I forgot my cell phone at my hotel, and I couldn't scan the QR code to see what I was getting into. Not only that, it's February in Lisbon. The dead of winter. It's 52ยฐ out and just our luck (after an hour wait) we secured one of the very few outdoor tables; and you can't negotiate an indoor table - this is what it is!In other words, I froze my ass off for a dinner I didn't feel like!Sure, they had outdoor heat lamps, but they were 30 feet high and 20 feet away from where my shivering carcass was.I was under dressed, burnt out on crustaceans, and just down right out.I had no idea I was going to be stuck outside without a salad or vegetable with my teeth chattering. Would I come back here again? Absolutely! As long as it was a warm night and I didn't want anything green or swam.

Be the first to ReplyMarisqueira Cervejaria Ramiro was probably in every Lisbon
Marisqueira Cervejaria Ramiro was probably in every Lisbon food vlog that we saw prior to our travel and it did not disappoint! It was even featured in (the late) Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations TV show (Season 8 - Episode 4) back in 2012.Gamba Tigre Grelhada (Grilled Giant Prawn) - Split in half and grilled to perfection, it was sooo delicious that we had to go for seconds. The meat was huge, sweet, juicy, firm, and not rubbery. There's plenty of fat in the head, too!Santola (Spider Crab) - We chose this over the Edible Crab because this was served warm. With plenty of crab fat, meat, and gooey stuffs in the shell, this was crab heaven. The concoction went well with the toasted bread with butter. And let's not forget about the crab meat itself - naturally sweet and delightful.Lingueirao (Razor Clams) - Garlicky and buttery! There's more meat with these razor clams than their round counterparts.Percebes (Goose Barnacles) - Simply boiled in saltwater, these had almost the same taste and texture as clams. Pinch and twist the skin to get the edible piece out and that's about it. I was glad to have tried this dish, but there wasn't much to write home about. We came here for lunch to avoid the mad dinner rush and we were lucky to get seated right away. Their website has a reservation system with a required deposit, but we could not decide on which date we wanted to go here. Service was friendly as our waiter was very helpful in answering our questions. We were very full that we did not get to try the much-heralded Bife do Lombo (Steak Sandwich). But really, there was a lot on the menu that looked solid! Hopefully our two daughters will be able to join us next time (or better yet, take us here) so that we can try them all...
