Pizzeria da Franco Sorrento Reviews from The Last Year
Wonderful pizza and saltimbocca.
We have been there 3 times. It's not a fancy place. You can eat outside.
Avoid this place. Disappointing and bad.
Disappointing and bland. Crust had no flavor and toppings tasted like they came out of a can. In a place where fine pizza is at a premium, avoid this place
Great food, slow service
The food was very nice, however it was massively let down by the service. After waiting in the doorway to be seated for at least 15 minutes, we then waited another 15-20 mins before we tried to get someone’s attention to order, waiter told us he he’d be right back and then we never saw him again. Waited 25 mins in the end to order drinks and a pizza… it felt like we were an inconvenience to them. Would be a much better place if the waiters acted on the eye contact they kept making. Confused by the other reviews that say the service was great?!
Best pizza anywhere!
I had been here before a few years ago and loved it then. Went here this month and luckily it hasn’t changed at all. Their pizza is the best I have ever had anywhere! Casual and relaxing I will definitely return someday!
Great first stop in Sorrento.
Very close to the train station, which was perfect for us. They have two sizes, the bigger was perfect for two. You could taste the fresh ingredients. The staff were friendly. They also had Wi-Fi. There was indoor and outdoor seating. Would definitely recommend a visit here!
Open Throughout the Entire Day
DaFranco The pizzeria is open all day so it's a good option if you are hungry before the restaurants open for dinner. There are so many options for pizza, well explained in English and Italian. I had a vegetarian pizza and my husband had one with prosciutto crudo and both were great (but not as good as the pizzas we would have later in the trip in Naples). Service charge of 10% is not included in the price.
Best saltimboca sandwich. Helpful staff.
This place was recommended by Rick Steve's. The lemon grove garden across the street closed for Covid & has not reopened. Sat outside with good view to people watch. We ordered pizza w/bacon & provolone & a saltimboca (flat bread sandwich-they educated me on what a saltimboca is😄) with ham/peppers/potato. It was really different but really good too. I started to order the bacon provolone as a starter and the head guy said he could make a pizza with these toppings -it was excellent! Just what I wanted but didn't know. Highly recommend!

We visited Sorrento in March to avoid crowds and afford pizza, all the other things too but let's face it pizza needs to happen! This was our first trip to Italy and we had high hopes for the culinary experience. Da Franco kept popping up during my extensive research so we made it a priority on food bucket list. Despite the language barrier (ours not theirs) we managed to order from the overwhelming amount of choices, didn't know you could make pizza shine in so many inventive ways! I had mortadella and pistachio with cheese and no tomato sauce. Outstanding crust and cold cuts! Husband had a more classic pie but with yellow tomatoes our new favorite! Service was good, very quiet and relaxed atmosphere before dinner rush I imagine. I knocked off a star for cannoli and biscotti, seemed like the cannoli was sitting for too long and biscotti were kinda too bland. Pizza pizza and more pizza would be my recommendation for your visit to DA Franco.
Casual but delicious
Fantastic pizza, the best we've had in our ten day trip so far. Great value too - under 30 euros for two pizzas and two drinks. I also thought the plastic cutlery was fun- it goes with the casual vibe of the place. We will be back!
Amazing Saltimbocca and Pizza!
We stopped here as part of our walking food tour and sampled the ham and cheese saltimbocca - amazing! We loved it so much that we came back the next day on our own for more, plus pizza! The pizza was equally as delicious. Would definitely go back!
Great value and quick service.
Excellent value for table service. We had lunch and tried two different saltimboccas and were not disappointed. At eight euro each it was a very good value as portions were large. We were recommended by Rick Steves. It is a great fast casual stop, you can be in and out in an hour and they have free WiFi with USB charging plugs.
Decent pizza and wine for a decent price in Sorrento!
Decent pizza and wine for a decent price in Sorrento! Service was fine; the vibes of this pizzeria are a lot more casual than the other location in Sorrento.
No pizza but burnt cardboard
Pizza is an art and if you don't know how to make it forget it.......Purchased take-away pizza, in addition to the expected but ugly, burnt and flavorless two margheritas and two cokes €18...... now and never again!
The Da Franco pizza is bomb Other ones we tried were good
The Da Franco pizza is bomb Other ones we tried were good but nothing write home about Anchovy pizza way to salty, in particular Good value and would say the individual size is probably 1.5 portions fyi Would definitely come back but stick with their namesake and try the basic margarita pizza
Pizza ? Eat it better in Naples!
The pizza isn't as good as it used to be. Value for money not good. You have to pay but you also have to eat a good product.
Best pizza we had during our time in Italy! Get a few to
Best pizza we had during our time in Italy! Get a few to share as we did to try the different options. So many to choose from makes it hard to decide!
The pizza here was the best we had while in Sorrento.
Service was good and we'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!
Amazing!! 10/10 best pizza in Italy so far.
Amazing service and so fun and friendly service.
Excellent pizza from a wood fired oven in a more casual
Excellent pizza from a wood fired oven in a more casual setting. The pizzas are huge and beer is cold. Great for all ages.
Pizzeria da Franco was suggested by our tour guide, Nico.
Fast service, reasonable pricing, and pizza was delicious! So glad we got arrived when we did because it was packed five minutes after we sat down.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
