Pink Onion San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
this is a shining example of how a small restaurant is
this is a shining example of how a small restaurant is becoming an important business in an ever-changing neighborhood. the food is excellent. whatever you order will be delicious. the pizza, the pasta, the dessert, the apps, the wine. delicioso! the place is small, but quaint. the service is excellent considering the onslaught of people traffic attempting to be seated. a local neighborhood charm. best time to go, even for take out is Wednesdays. the combo dinner is the best choice. $60 for pizza, pasta, app, dessert, and a bottle of wine. The best in the world of shrinkflation wherein this place gives you more than what you'd expect. benesimo!
Great service, great food.
Solid vibe. The menu had a good variety of dishes, and the quality was much better than their quite reasonable prices would suggest. Definitely returning!

Dined in for my first time on my first Mother's Day (I've had takeout a few times) and we had a great time. The space is very small, but the vibes are cool. It's nice and open. The parking is very limited, so plan ahead for that. I suggest making reservations for a better experience. We ordered the combo meal -- which is a GREAT deal. You get one small pizza, one pasta, one appetizer or salad, and one dessert for $60. Talk about a bang for your buck!! We had the il pesto di pistacio for the pasta which is my favorite -- easily a 10/10! Super rich, creamy & flavorful. The Mexicano pizza was a big hit and made great leftovers. We also enjoyed the mussels and tiramisu which were also both great. All of the food was amazing and we received great service. Can't wait to come back!
Very disappointed with the service.
The food was ok. The music was too loud. I wouldn't recommend.

The Pink onion definitely a place which I desire for it to expand to the other side of the pond I have to go to sf just to get the most delicious pizza around and their exquisite pastas another mouth watering experience
In town visiting my daughter in SF for Mother's Day
In town visiting my daughter in SF for Mother's Day weekend! She brought me to this little gem in Mission. OMG!!! Wow amazing food! Highly recommend. The service was 100% Sage makes the best lattes. Gabriel gave us the best service! He was very helpful. Can't wait to come back.
This is a great place for a date night.
Their dinner for two combo meal is such a great deal and honestly can last for several meals! It includes an appetizer or salad, pizza, pasta, and dessert. The pasta Al tartufo is AMAZING and the nayalita pizza was equally as good. I would love to go back and try more options. It was so hard to choose since they all sound delicious. They also have really good bread as a starter. Not too much seating inside so you may have to wait a while but it's well worth the wait. I recommend a reservation if possible! Plenty of street parking in the area!

Was in town last weekend and was staying close by and lucked up on this spot! Had the bolognese with pappardelle and it was both delicious and affordable! Will be back!
Absolutely love this place! Not only was the food
Absolutely love this place! Not only was the food delicious, but the service was amazing. Big thank you to Gabriel & David who were very hospitable and accommodating. This place gets packed. But the wait goes by fast. For great tasting Italian food that tasted better than some at north beach. Go to Pink Onion.
I absolutely love this place.
What a freaking deal! Their combo meal is to die for. You get one appetizer, one pizza, one pasta, and one dessert. All for $60. And if you come on weds, you get a free bottle of wine to go with everything! They also let you choose from a red wine or a white wine. For our meal we had the side meatballs, magic mushroom pizza, pesto di pistacchio pasta, and cheesecake. First to start, the meatballs were quite palatable and the sauce was perfected to taste. The magic mushroom pizza was soo good but I didn't taste the mushrooms as much as I'd liked. I did enjoy the prosciutto on top but it could make it a little on the salty side if you have a large piece on your slice. The pesto pasta was alright! I'd definitely want to try a different pasta next time as it felt super oily and heavy. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my time dining here. It gets pretty crowded so I would say come early! They don't have too many tables here and it's a pretty busy loud restaurant. I would still say it's great for date nights though. I would definitely come back as I'd like to try everything on their menu :)
The food is consistently good and the combo dinner deal
The food is consistently good and the combo dinner deal remains a steal. The extra star is well deserved. Some of my favorites: Brock Purdy pizza (grandma pizza with ricotta and pepperoni), the meatballs, the burrata plate (both the proscuitto burrata plate and the vegetarian burrata plate are great), pesto pasta (pretty oily though), and the bolognese (not the best bolognese I've had but a solid dish).
Hands down one of my favorite casual restaurants in SF!
Hands down one of my favorite casual restaurants in SF! Strongly recommend reservations. It is a small restaurant...not the most comfortable. Personal space is limited, but... The food is delicious! Their tiramisu is memorable...one of the best I've had. They serve delicious pasta and pizza and the menu has a variety of options. I also enjoy their avocado salad, super fresh! I stick to these items for the combo dinner: avocado salad, mussel pasta, the Hampod, and tiramisu! Very filling for 2. Have had good experiences with the service as well
Delicious.
We always get the 3 combo(?) meal and it fills us more than enough. Small little place but cute.
Can't really say anything about the food since we ended up
Can't really say anything about the food since we ended up leaving. Made a reservation at this place & when we got there the server said that "they overbooked." Parking is SO HARD at this place too. Super disappointed!

Food was amazing! I ordered the margarita pizza and 2 pastas. We were given a pasta that we didn't order(truffle pasta) but didn't notice until we got back home. Wasn't a fan of it(very rich and earthy flavor) but the Vodka pasta and pizza was bomb! Staff were really busy and not in the best mood but we all have those days. The place was really small but well put together. If you want a table, you will need to wait a bit on the weekends. Highly recommend as a food option!
Amazing Burrata salad - spectacular.
We had the Grandma pizza, equally as awesome. Must eat in SF!!

Just had 2 pizzas- Bruce Bochy and Tyson Punch Out and Caesar salad delivered. WOW. The Caesar salad was really good- and they send 2 containers of dressings (what a concept- not sure why other places don't do that). Definitely enough for 2. One of the best house Caesar dressings I've had- definitely will order again. The pizza's both were great. The Bruce Bochy was actual my favorite of the two- but both were very good. Can't wait to try the pasta and meatballs. Two thumbs up!

Did the combo meal (1 app or salad, 1 small pizza - 6 slices, 1 pasta, and dessert) for $60 and it's so much food for the price! We got the parma e burrata plate which comes with fruit & prosciutto. I liked it a lot but it's quite a sweet dish so it honestly felt like a dessert. The pears and berries were delicious when paired with the burrata though! We got the vodka rigatoni pasta, which was the best savory item of the night. The sauce is super rich and creamy and has a nice paprika flavor. Highly recommend dipping the pizza crust in the extra sauce! We got two pizzas but unfortunately neither was amazing imo. I loved their crust (it's super chewy and foldable), but the toppings felt a bit off for both. They do have an extensive pizza menu, so maybe we just happened to order ones that we didn't quite like. The tiramisu however was really good and the perfect ending to the meal! The basque cheesecake also looked so good. Service was super friendly! Would definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand because it's a super small place. They have both indoor and outdoor seating.
Really enjoyed the combo meal deal and I was so full
Really enjoyed the combo meal deal and I was so full afterwards, definitely worth it! This was actually my second time coming back since they have so many options for pizza and will be coming back to try other kinds
Came here on a light rainy Friday night.
Girlfriend and her cousin + his girlfriend was visiting SF and was in the mood for Italian food. I found this spot on Yelp and it was close to our BnB. Upon arrival, we were told the whole row of seats were reserved and that it may be a 30-45 min wait depending if the groups show up or not. We opted to wait as this spot looked promising. Luckily for us, a group of 2 opted to sit at the bar table so there was a table open for the 4 of us. Everyone here was friendly and attentive for how busy they were with take out orders and it being a Friday night. What drew us to this place especially was people recommending this spot for their combo deal. You get a choice of an appetizer or salad, a pasta, a small pizza, and a dessert for $60. That's a great deal! Our group opted for 2 combo deals. We ended up getting: Appetizer - Meat and Cheese Plate Salad - Pink Onion Salad Pastas: Rigatoni with Vodka Sauce and La Bolognese Pizzas: Pink Alarm Fire and Hampod Pizza Added side of meatballs -The meatballs were really good. You get 2 big pieces per order so we each had half. We all loved it. 9/10 -Meat and Cheese Plate - Awesome appetizer to get the taste buds and appetite going. We weren't sure how to pair the items with the jam? Like thing though. 8/10 -Pink Onion Salad - I seen 2 tables with a salad and thought it was this one seeing how the salad is named after the restaurant. I personally liked it but the group wasn't use to having so much going on in a salad. It had fruits and the blood orange dressing made it too acidic for my group. Bolognese pasta - we loved the type of noodles used in this pasta. For me, the portion was a bit underwhelming as each of us had a small portion to try and it was pretty much gone. It was not overly saucy and had a nice flavor. Vodka Pasta - the sauce used in this one was phenomenal. It was my favorite thing of the food items but we all agreed that this sauce with the pasta used in the bolognese one, would've been perfect Both pizzas were pretty standard - thin crust and not a lot of toppings. Tiramisu and cheesecake - really good size portion and pairs awesome with the cheesecake. Highly recommend coming here for their combo deal! Had to take 1 star off due to the loud group next to us. 3 ladies laughing at max volume and having a talk about their sex life. I understand that's not on the restaurant but they definitely could've stepped in and asked them to be quieter. Maybe they knew the table because they were getting a lot of attention with the waiter without being asked while we had to call for their attention.
Excellent!!!
This was one of our favorites on our recent trip to San Francisco. It was a quick Uber from the financial district. The food was soooooo good. Prices are very reasonable. Service was superior. Don’t hesitate to try this restaurant.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Bid and Buy Instantly
I have a big ongoing and it also shows someone is working on my bid. Today I see there is a " Buy Instantly " option at my portfolio showing same price I've bid for a reservation. I'm a bit confused, since my money has already been deducted from my credit card for the bid, do I need to pay one more time for the Buy Instantly? If I choose Buy Instantly, can I cancel my bid ( while someone is working on it )? Thanks!

You can only deposit $50 at a time until you earn the “Sales and Low Refund Medal” I believe. Im new to this as well but the ability to deposit more money at once and increase your amount of listings comes with that medal.

Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!
