Pearl and Mary Oyster Bar Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
We love pearl and Mary all year but springtime to fall
We love pearl and Mary all year but springtime to fall when you can comfortably sit outside and people watch is fantastic. The service and food are always excellent. I recommend going for their happy hour it's wonderful!! We always look forward to our next evening out there.

I really wish I could give them more stars and better
I really wish I could give them more stars and better credit. If you're going in for seafood, clearly you know what you're going to pay for. But there crab meat appetizer was shredded crab meat and tasted frozen. Plus it definitely wasn't worth it. If you don't go, they kind of look at you. Most of the waist staff seems very inexperienced, as well as maybe some of the management. I appreciate you checking with the chef and the kitchen, but since my request are minimal. I don't really expect a lot of pushback the way it was given. I guess the customer isn't always right. so I guess I won't be spending my money there again. The food was good, and the drinks are OK as well. I just think they need to check themselves a little bit and come back down to reality and realize that without us, there is no business.

Best happy hour in the city no doubt, always fresh just hard to get a seat at the bar

Very good food and a large menu for your friends that don't love oysters. Larger restaurant too! Staff were very attentive and kind. Can't say enough about how great happy hour is here: very affordable food and a decent enough HH menu options that help you explore their seafood leaning menu. Cocktails were also very good and not overpriced from 4-7. Fries are the bomb. I'm unfortunately not enough of a seafood expert to rate the raw bar.

The service was good but I had the oysters and got home and begin throwing up!! Over and over again they gave me food poisoning!!! Do not recommend

We went to Peal & Mary for the first time last night and we will definitely be back! The interior is super cosy and nautical and the bar is beautiful. The food and drinks were amazing! Fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. The coconut cake was to die for. 11 layers!!!! The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient. I highly recommend Pearl & Mary for a nice night out!
Gorgeous place and one of my favorites in the neighborhood.
I haven't had anything that wasn't delicious, but the red snapper in a Thai-style coconut broth was to die for, as were the oysters rockefeller. Special shoutout as well to the milk bread. I don't know why it's so hard to find homemade soft bread (that is NOT sourdough or something seed-heavy) in the city and I wouldn't have expected a seafood restaurant to be the one to offer it, but absolutely no complaints here. I would happily go back just for the milk bread alone. I will echo other reviewers that the portion sizes are fairly small and a la carte, so you'll want to be aware of that when budgeting your meal. :) It is very easy to spend $50+ per person here and that's before dessert or alcohol. Not that unusual for the area, but something worth knowing. I felt that service was well above average, as was the sheer number of staff. Alex was our server and he was genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the food. Finally, I want to praise the layout. A lot of Center City restaurants are, for obvious reasons, kind of "phone booth" style. Long, skinny and with very tight seating. While Pearl and Mary is cozy and loud, the tables are just far enough apart that it doesn't feel as overwhelming as some other places. It's a matter of inches, but it makes a difference when you're not nearly rubbing elbows with the next table and hearing every detail of their own conversation.
Very good food! Awesome ambiance.
The pink moon was the best oyster in our review. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. Perfect. Will be back.

I've been here two times so far -- for happy hour -- and everything's been delicious so far! The oysters are the star of the show, probably the best I've had (but I'm also not verse in the oyster world). Tastes so fresh. I don't think they out any mignonette in the oysters, yet it has a deliciously indescribable flavor to them? Kind of like a mix of salt water & maybe garlic... Maybe that's just how fresh, quality oysters taste but I'm fan now, considering I could easily have a dozen oysters to myself! (And i wasn't a huge fan of oysters before) My first visit I ordered from the happy hour menu; - the mussel toast -- scrumptious but very small.. it was $3. Would have rather had them charge a bit more for a bigger portion. (It was probably the size of chip for reference) - deviled eggs -- $4 for two halves of an egg () really yummy again, but i think $4 for a single egg isn't worth it tbh - french fries -- $4 standard fries.. i was just craving fries to munch on. reminds me of McDonald's - $2 oysters -- FAV! Come here just for them. - $1 clam -- good, but small. Oysters are tastier and bigger & would rather pay the $1 difference for oysters - $7 Cocktail; Paloma -- to be honest, wasn't very good at all. Super strong (which could be good for some?) but mostly tasted like alcohol and a splash of grapefruit. Wasn't really carbonated or sweet. Regular menu - Crab Dip -- $16 I got this on both times i went. So yummy & has bits of shrimp in it that adds texture & seafoody flavor. Very creamy; wish i knew how to make this myself!! - Crab Cake -- $16 for 1/$30 for 2. Really good, and big crab cakes! I was honestly full from happy hour items + crab dip but i couldn't help but finish a crab cake to myself. - Branzino -- $27 ordered on my second visit. It was good, the fish was REALLY well cooked. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Just a filet, boneless, skinless, etc. the flavors were really good but personally, I'm Asian so the sauce (fish sauce) & lettuce + daikon reminds me of something I could make/ have made at home. Probably wouldn't get again, but for those not exposed to Vietnamese food -- give this a try! (Or go to Little Saigon in South Philly lol) Overall, I really enjoyed this place and am excited to come back. Probably would only come for happy hour but definitely worth ordering from the regular menu!
Diner
Pearl and Mary Oyster Bar Philadelphia is very sweet and also worth while.
Stay away !!
Overpriced garbage!!.Extremely stingy on protion, home fries were a small garnishment of tiny dried out miniature hush puppies with no flavor ! Eggs were cold and nasty ! $4 upcharge for French toast and I got one small slice of bread ! I had to beg for jelly !! After asking for it initially. The guy taking orders has absolutely no people skills and is only concerned with the money ! Absolutely disgusting customer service, Definitely will be sticking with the Dutch breakfast counter near Beilers Donuts, they have way bigger portions, real homefries and a lot friendlier towards paying customers !!
Delicious Oysters!
We visited the Reading Terminal for late Breakfast on a Sunday but instead of breakfast, we ended up eating lunch there since we got a seat at the Pearl's Oyster bar. Food comes out quickly! The Fried Oysters were huge and juicy! Great stop for a quick lunch if you're at the Reading Terminal.
Breakfast was good
Had the eggs Benedict with scrapple. Eggs and Hollandaise sauce were perfect. Tried scrapple just to try, I would have preferred ham, just no flavor from the scrapple. I also had the cheese grits, the flavor was good but the consistency still reminds me of wallpaper paste. Service was quick and would recommend for breakfast.
Great Fried Seafood
Great Chowder and Fried Seafood. They offer great fried Fish and Chips, clams, oysters, shrimp. Batter is very crispy and not greasy. A go to for fish and chips.

How do you set a timeline for getting your bid accepted? I can’t wait till the actual time I want to go. I want to know at least eight hours ahead of time. How do you do that?
