Good Version of New Haven-Style Pizza in California
We were visiting from Connecticut and heard about Pazzo with a recommendation that the make New Haven-style pizza. We could not pass up the opportunity to give the pizza a try. We found the service to be very friendly and efficient. Pazzo appears to be take-out only right now, which suited us just fine. The pizzas were great--while not exactly what we should get back home, the crust and toppings were right in line with our expectation. We highly recommend Pazzo for anyone who want to experience "real" pizza!
Be the first to Replyeven with Covid still the best food in San Carlos
I have lived in San Carlos for a very long time 1980 and this place is the best Pizza ever. But the other items are spectacular. Try the home maid pasta dishes. and don't forget the fresh made after diner treats. The wine and beer is also great. Family makes great food that they care about and they care about the customer as well. This place has been on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and is none of those. it is real family and class.

We LOVE Pazzo's. First, the service (when we were able to go there for table service) was always very, very good. The one downside for in-person dining was that it would always get very loud in there, but we still went!
SO many things to recommend from the menu - the meatballs, cauliflower, Caesar salad, rigatoni with sausage, cavatelli with the ragu sauce, most of their pizzas!
I love the simplicity of their food. It tastes homemade and you can definitely tell it's brick oven pizza. And, the prices are actually very good, especially for this area.
After seeing Pazzo on DDD, I wants to check it out.
After seeing as Pazzo on DDD, I wanted to try it out. We sat at the counter in front of the wood fired oven. Was fun to watch pizza after pizza get prepared and cooked.
We ordered the fennel sausage pizza and their gnocchi. I really enjoyed the pizza, my daughter was exclaiming the gnocchi the best ever.
The environment is a mix between formal and casual. The staff were very friendly and readily available. Seating is limited, when we arrived at 6, they were nearly filled up. Over the top loaded up when we departed.
Glad we gave the a shot. Will be back
The best and point your car there and no place else!
Andy ALWAYS in all his iteration of restaurants has been by far the King. His menus are second to none and Pazzo is the latest/best. The lines are out the door for a good reason. Salute' Mr. Gambardella!

Still the best simple food on the peninsula. I came for pizza but had the special spinach beef ravioli, on first bite I was in love. This is a small place packed every night but so simple and so so good. By far the best pizza in town real homemade real wood fired thin crust.
Be the first to ReplySo friggin' delicious
The pizza is absolutely fantastic. Pizza is my favorite food and I've had it in many cities across the US and I consider thos tje best pizza on the planet u til proven otherwise. I've eaten there three times since discovering Pazzo in December. The owner calls it "New Haven, Connecticut style pizza."
Their pizza is cooked in a wood fired oven and thin crust needs to be eaten folded in half or with a knife and fork. When you look at the toppings and crust and smell the rich aroma, you know it is going to be an A+ pizza extravaganza.
Yes, if you arrive on a Friday or Saturday evening without a reservation, you may have to wait 20 minutes or longer.
They open at 5 pm and are closed Sunday and Monday as they are NOT DESPERATE for customers.
I drive almost an hour to eat there from one end of San Francisco Bay to the other and boy it is worth it. I have not tasted better pizza on this planet.
The service is excellent as the wait staff is very friendly and knowledeable about their menu and the restaurant's genesis.
Best cauliflower appetizer anywhere
We love going to this local restaurant and the cauliflower appetizer is so good. T he cauliflower is roasted with pine nuts, currants and oil. They have a delicious thin crust pizza which is cooked in a wood burning pizza oven. The homemade fennel sausage pizza is a favorite . We try to get there about 6 or before because it gets very busy.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food worth the trip
As seen on TV. It lives up to the show. We drove 160 miles just for dinner.
For starters we ordered the beet salad and the meatballs. Order was on the table in about 10 minutes. Surprised me due to how busy the restaurant was. We did wait about 20 minutes for a table, however, that was during the peak time on a Saturday evening. I’ve never considered myself a foodie. I do like to eat. There were layers of flavor in both the salad and the meatballs. They have a wood fired pizza oven, so I ordered pizza. The wife ordered ravioli. Both item were off the hook good. There’s also a good wine list for pairing with your meal.
They do accept reservations on a limited basis. They also have a takeout option. Along with a great menu that also have daily specials.
Worth the drive worth a wait. Fast friendly staff.
Don’t forget dessert.
Enjoy
Rjey make their own pasta on-site
Nice neigborhood Italian restaurant with a brick oven. You can watch the bread and pizza baking in the oven from just about any table. Pizza wirh 8 slices cost $18. Glass of wine costs $10 - $13 a glass. Staff was friendly .
Be the first to ReplyTerribly bad service
Pazzo was recommended by my friend who knew that I loved Italian cuisine. I even tried one of their meals she brought to the office and it tasted great. At this point my expectations were set pretty high. Unfortunately, my visit at Pazzo was average at best with ridiculously slow service and mediocre food. The waiter must have had a bad day. Literally, I spent almost an hour waiting for his next move while he was doing absolutely nothing (staring at the wall to be more specific). Let's focus on food. Mozzarella Fritta ordered for a starter turned out to be a stiff, gummy piece of cold cheese topped with tomato sauce. Believe me, the sauce was the best part of the dish. Cavatelli (slow-braised pork ragu, Pecorino Romano cheese) was a much better choice, still far from ideal. The pork was cooked too short thus I had to deal with tough pieces of meat. Considering the circumstances, I was not eager to try any dessert. In the end I noticed I was charged for bread which I had not ordered. I left leaving $1 tip. Won't be going back for sure.
