Food was good.
The quantity felt less so had to order another dish. Will come again anyways.
Be the first to ReplyMy all time favorite restaurant in SF.
Food is always excellent. Brunch or dinner. Roast chicken and little gem salad are to die for. Cozy, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. A great place for a night out with friends or a quick week night dinner at the counter. It's not super loud which I really appreciate. Parking in the area is easy. Staff are very friendly.
Be the first to ReplyLove this neighborhood gem in the Outer Sunset area.
It has a cozy, fun, warm, and atmosphere with an amazing staff. I always start off with their famous warm bread and butter and smoked trout gem salad. Their seasonal fish dish is so good and the roasted chicken is my absolute favorite! I highly recommend sitting at the bar for the lovely, curated, delicious cocktails!

On this partly sunny, cold and windy day in San Francisco we had brunch here for my sister's birthday. We were a party of 6, since they don't take reservations, we waited outside to be seated, when an inside table was finally available, we had to place our order at the host/hostess desk outside AAAANNNDDD pay for our bill, AAANNNDDD include a tip before setting foot in the restaurant!!! I ordered the first thing my eyes saw on the menu just to give my order and go inside. Once our order came, mine was an open faced mushroom sandwich with an egg on top, it was cold. While the menu is good, having to wait in the cold and pay+tip w/o even sitting, ruined the whole experience for a few of us.

This restaurant has been on a ton of list of places to try across the city. Listen, the food is good but the ordering and seating process is very confusing. You order and wait outside for your table. Once you're seated, you don't really have a waiter. The service felt like I was at an upscale Panera. Brunch options were cool, I really liked my breakfast sandwich. I would like to go back for the food but not the service.

Throughout my culinary journey of SF, Outerlands was perhaps the least pleasant dining experience I had. Despite making a reservation, the waitstaff made it clear that we were on a timeline and not entirely welcomed. Our waiter also met us with deep sighs, eyerolls, and strangely loaded comments ("Are you SURE you don't want any cash back?", "Oh, that's all you're ordering? Ok..."). I ordered the roasted carrot dish (lack luster and overpriced) and rice pudding (superb! I would recommend this dish to anyone who visits. A delicate combination of comforting spices, bittersweet marmalade, and creamy rice). Atmosphere-wise, the restaurant is romantic and bustling. Having worked in food service myself, I can absolutely understand the harshness of the industry. Still, the elitist coldness I was met with was disarming and ultimately made this an uncomfortable dining experience that I will not be repeating.

Sunday morning at Outerlands was busy, but after a 30-40 minute wait, we snagged a sunny spot outside - perfect for our furry companion to join us! They seem to be dog friendly We indulged in Dutch pancakes and the breakfast sandwich, doubling up on bacon because, why not? The breakfast sandwich stole the show with its perfect balance of flavors and generous toppings, leaving us fully satisfied. While the Dutch pancake had potential with its eggy base and apple topping, it fell short in sweetness. Next time, we'll stick to the sandwich. Overall, Outerlands offered a charming brunch experience, and we're eager to explore more of their menu on our next visit.
Be the first to ReplyYum! Everything was so tasty.
In terms of service, we had to wait quite a bit even after we were told a table was available for us. You order/pay before getting sat at your table. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and smashed potatoes; both were good. The outside of the potatoes could have been slightly crispier, but I loved the texture of the inside. The aioli dip the potatoes come with was great. We got sat outside, so it was a little chilly during my meal; I think it would have been nice if there were tents or heaters for the outdoor seating.
Be the first to ReplyThe new owners eviscerated it.
I used to love it, now it basically sucks. They degraded the quality of the ingredients, hired a lesser chef and kept the prices the same. What an absolute shame.

Have had some polarizing dining experiences here - fantastic bar service with food and middling service and experience sitting in a tight two-person near the food counter couldn't be worse for dining experience. Service in the dining area is more typical of SF, not great for the price, certainly not up to par with the quality of food. Of note, they charge a 5% service charge + a 5% SF health mandate; then their Toast system automatically options gratuity on top of that. A curious choice.

Solid brunch spot that's also conveniently close to Ocean Beach! It has a bustling vibe with indoor and outdoor seating (and an operating bar at brunch time??) that's good for small groups. The queueing style is different from other restaurants since you start in one line to get a table number and then join another to place your order and pay, but staff handles the crowd really well. Prepare for a wait (15-20 minutes) at brunch on weekends. Price: ~$25/person Recs: Veggie Grain Bowl (absolutely loved the hummus, quinoa, and flavorful greens in this)

"But is it worth the hype?" That's the question I was seriously asking myself after having seen Outerlands listed on many a foodie recommendation article and food influencer Instagram reel. It's overall pretty good. A few things to note: - Love the rustic ambiance here! -It can get crowded so budget time to wait in line -As others have mentioned, the set up is a bit interesting. You order before you get seated. It feels like they are trying to get so many people through, but thankfully I didn't feel rushed in my meal. -Food is very well-prepared and flavorful. I got the veggie grain bowl which was perfectly seasoned and fresh, albeit a little greasy. -Portion sizes are on the smaller side relative to the price point. -The lemon ginger apple cider was the perfect cozy beverage on a fall day in the Outer Sunset. I'd come back, but there's also a ton of other SF brunch places I'd like to try first.

Such yummy good! Kind of a quirky system to get seated but it works well and means that you get your food fast and can leave as soon as you're done.
Be the first to ReplyThe chicken is so so so good.
Probably better than Zuni. Service always friendly and informed. And the wood decor is on point. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is nice and young.
It's semi-cafe-style in that you order your food and drinks with the hostess at entrance (outside on the sidewalk) and pay for your order and gratuity prior to being seated. The hostess that seated us wasn't the friendliest or most helpful. Once you order and pay, you're given a number stand to take to your table as you do at cafes, but you do get a waiter(ess) who serves your food and drinks. Of course taste is very subjective, at least to us, the food was alright (nothing amazing or memorable). Service was also alright: we had a tiny 2-person table and no one would take away the empty plates and mugs though staff would walk by our table numerous times. We even stacked them up so they could take them but no one bothered. But since you pay up front for gratuity, nothing can be done if you end up not getting good service. Overall rating (to us): alright
Be the first to ReplyWe came for dinner on a cold, rainy night.
The place is lusciously dark, perfectly illuminated by candles and dim overhead (non-LED) lights, and the food is incredible--the homemade pasta is delicious. Almost everything is homemade and delicious! And do yourself a favor and get an order (or 2, or 3...) of the bread and butter. The bread is so soft, fluffy, warm, fresh, and perfectly crusty. The delicious butter is homemade and by far the best butter I have ever tasted. Staff are knowledgeable on their cocktails, and at explaining the less common items on the menu.

The restaurant serves ridiculously small size portions, at least, during dinners. I'have ordered Trout as a main course and tempura veggies as an appetizer. The "fish" dish had barely any fish, a few tiny pieces of parsnip and two leaves of bok choy. One star for the sauce, it was delicious. I left the restaurant hungry. And I know what small portions should look like - I worked in a French restaurant for a few years. Please put more food on a plate because your customers leaving your place starving.
Be the first to ReplyWeekend brunch queue system is very loose and disorganized.
Expect to have door staff forget your place in line, not even call your party name, and proceed to let newer people in just because they heckle at them. The restaurant should invest in software and phase out the unskilled traffic management at the door.
Be the first to ReplyI wanted to give them five stars, the only reason I did not
I wanted to give them five stars, the only reason I did not is because they were out of many items and service was fast and slow. It was fast at first with our drinks but then the second round was slow, they served a drink after all the food was gone. I also dislike the fact that you have to order before sitting. Over all cute minimalist setting, good music they had reggaetรณn which I am a fan. Even though we had whatever items they had with substitutions of bread it was still tasty. Cocktails were great, I had the warm spiced tea. It was amazing.Grilled cheeses sandwich was so cheesy and salty, in a good way hehe I wish I added some grilled onions. Breakfast sandwich was okay, they ran out of bread so it was a bit weird but tasty. The bean soup was good. It made a good pair for the grilled cheese. Unfortunately, they were out of all pastries including the donut. ProGood cocktailsFood is tasty Good musicCon The wait time is ridiculous like ridiculous like we waited for like almost two hoursThey were out of half of the itemsTea is overpriced Feels rushedYou have to order before you sit

What other way to top Saturday off in the city than to have brunch after visiting the Golden Gate Dog Park with the fur babies!PARKINGStreet parking. We found street parking a block away and walked to the restaurant. SERVICEWe arrived for a late lunch/brunch around 1:45PM. Surprisingly, there wasn't a wait at all. We did have to wait about 5-8 mins in line outside to order at the hostess stand before being given a number and assigned table. Their patio/outdoor seating area is pet friendly, which was PAWfect because we had our pups with us. The service was EXCELLENT. The hostess was super friendly and accommodating with our pups. The food and drinks came out quickly. We were checked on throughout our dining experience. FOOD/DRINK*Trout Sandwich: beautifully displayed. This entree was everything I imagined. The smoked trout was delicious. Good balance with all of the ingredients: crรจme fraรฎche, cucumber, radish, pickled sweet onion and capers, which was refreshing on the palate. Recommend this dish!*Grilled Cheese: This grilled cheese was satisfying and filling. Good portion. Crunchy. Cheesy. Tasty! *Chocolate Chip Cookie: we had to try it since it was recommended by the hostess. This cookie didn't disappoint! Crispy, chewy and gooey, yet the perfect size and thickness. * Iced Lattes: fragrant and creamy. Strong espresso flavor. It was our first time here and we throughly enjoyed everything. The service was what really nailed it for us. Bravo!
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely disappointed.
I came here with a friend who had been here before and said it was a pretty solid brunch spot so she decided to have me try it. I don't know if it was just an off day, but ngl the most disappointing part of our experience was the service. Although the workers managing the front with customers waiting outside were nice, the service was almost nonexistent once we were seated! They sat us at a table that was pretty small so we had a hard time trying to keep all of our food on the table without everything falling, but honestly that's way beyond the point. Nobody ever checked in on us, we constantly had to flag down several different servers for everything. I understand it was busy given it was a Saturday afternoon, but I still think that checking in on customers goes a long way regardless. The food wasn't bad, but the service left a bad taste in my mouth.

4.5 rounded downWent to outerlands for brunch FINALLY. wait for a party of three was about thirty minutes. they were sold out of the dutch pancakes which was SUPER unfortunate because it looked absolutely delightful but ended up getting the- smashed potatoes-- great, would recommend- french toast-- a surprise and also great, the tangerines give good balance and wasn't too heavy- mushroom toast -- definitely star of the meal, would recommend- breakfast sandwich -- didn't have the potato roll, just fine tbhinterior is extremely cute and the food came out quickly as well. overall, the vibes are delightful and fun and would recommend coming back!!
Be the first to ReplyJust left here from breakfast and I am still starving.
Offensively over-priced hipster breakfast/brunch joint.Wooden space with a good ambiance and decent music playing throughout. Decent service from the bartenders. 5% service fee added to bill (not including tip).I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich and added bacon (cost was $13). It was a shameful over-sized brioche bun with some aioli and I had to double-check that it had the egg. The bacon lacked any salt whatsoever. They do give a ton of arugula though on the side, so if that's your poison, you're in luck. No side, unless you count the arugula.I asked about available sides and a bowl of potatoes is $10, according to the hostess who you order with. The price sounded high for potatoes but the girl next to me ordered it and it's a LOT of potatoes. The house coffee was actually pretty good ($3), but no refills, which was expected with this type of place. All in all: skip this one; there are plenty of other brunch spots in SF with better, more satisfying food options.
