Osteria Giulia Toronto Reviews from The Last Year
Osteria Giulia is one of the Michelin guide restaurant in
Osteria Giulia is one of the Michelin guide restaurant in Toronto. It is one of the hardest restaurant to book, so make sure try to book one or two weeks ahead especially Friday and Saturday night. We ordered the shrimp pasta, iberico pork loin (feature special of the night), seafood platter and monte blanc for dessert. Iberico pork loin surprisingly a very good entrée, very tender! Seafood platter comes with one large prawn, two scallops, one small monkfish and trout filet, one octopus tentacle and one squid. We also have high hopes on the shrimp pasta, but I found that the creamy sauce and the spaghetti cannot blend together. Finally the monte blanc cake is always good in this restaurant.
So lucky to have an opportunity to dine at Osteria Giulia
So lucky to have an opportunity to dine at Osteria Giulia for my birthday. We had the endive salad, sourdough, broccolini, handbraided seafood pasta, and lobster risotto. Endive salad had a nice tart burnt butter vinagrette with sliced almonds. Broccolini had a wonderful and flavourful sauce. The handbraided pasta had perfectly cooked scallops and squid, and the brightness of the sauce was perfect. Finally, the lobster risotto is a must-have. It had such a rich lobster flavour and the crispiness of the artichoke was a nice touch! Finished with the kiwi and pineapple sorbet. It was unique, creamy (although theres no dairy), and a refreshing way to finish the night! Will definitely be back.
The highlights of the meal were definitely the appetizers
The highlights of the meal were definitely the appetizers and dessert. Unfortunately, the steak was disappointingly tough, resembling rubber, and the calamari pasta should be avoided altogether. Moreover, the wine was excessively overpriced; typically, reputable fine-dining establishments would apply a markup of 2-3 times the retail price, but here it seemed to be inflated by a factor of 7. After settling the bill, we checked the Vivino app and found that an $800 bottle of wine was priced at just $99 in the local LCBO store. So, unless you enjoy feeling taken advantage of, it's best to steer clear of ordering wine and steak here.

We had a group of 6 of us and ordered their family-style dinner where they brought out a 4-course meal with a selection of appies, pastas, mains, then dessert. We opted to not have the steak as one of our mains as the price really does skyrocket with that one. Here are the highlights: -Beet salad -Veal carpaccio -Clam pasta -Lobster ravioli (absolutely the BEST) Unpopular opinion but their signature FOCACCIA wasn't what I expected, it was more like a super thin flat bread... I would pass on this in the future. I'd also skip on BEEF RIGATONI, the LAMB main was quite fatty, and SEAFOOD PLATTER was good but expensive. All the handmade pastas were truly the freshest and had the best texture I've ever experienced though. The desserts were a smash too - PASSIONFRUIT MILLE FEUILLE, MONT BLANC (with a raspberry filling twist), and TIRAMISU (with ice cream in the middle).
It was such a great experience dining here.
We loved every single dish and dessert. Everything was just right, including the details and garnishes. Our waiter was so friendly. The restaurant overall was very neat and elegant. Strongly recommend. Oh and also, we liked their wines too!
Part of a longer review.
.. As I sip my espresso and reflect on the meal, I'm filled with gratitude. At Osteria Giulia, the ambiance, service, and food meld to create an experience that's about more than just dining--it's about savoring life's simple pleasures. In a city brimming with Italian restaurants, Osteria Giulia stands out not just for its Michelin star, but for its ability to transport diners to a place where every bite tells a story. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best stories are those told around the dinner table, with a glass of wine flowing and good company by your side.
Ambient VERY LOUD, so not a good place to go on a date.
Decent pizza. Salads and drinks way overpriced. poor service.
Hands down one of the best experience ever.
As I walked in, the hostess asked for my jacket and guided me to my seat. This restaurant is apparently very popular and it's best to get a reservation. My friend loves this place so we were lucky to score something at 5:30pm at the bar. The service was impeccable, since it was my first time at the restaurant the server went through the entire menu with us and gave us his recommendation. My friend ordered some olives and bread to start us off and we both ordered cocktails. The bar itself was stocked and organized really nicely, the decor was very slick highlighting the fine wood that they used from top to bottom. For our appetizer, we ordered a salad and a veal carpaccio to start. The Vitello Tonnato was veal carpaccio combined with albacore tuna, folie di cappero, lemon and drizzled with olive oil. We mixed up the plate real nice and took a nice bite. The flavors went together so well and it was an incredible start to the dining experience. For our main dishes, we both order pasta. I ordered their popular LORIGHITTAS al MARE, which had the freahest seafood that I've had since coming back from Portugal. After a bite, it had a nice little spicy kick at the end. To finish off our meal, I had to get the picture popular millefoglie. This dessert was beautifully assembled with pastry layered with tropical fruit filling. I loved the flavor profile that it gave and it satisfied my dessert cravings. The overall dining experience was exceptional! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for excellent service & food!
I've been wanting to try Osteria Giulia ever since they
I've been wanting to try Osteria Giulia ever since they opened, even before they got their Michelin star. I finally got a reservation to come here for my birthday dinner and I was disappointed. TLDR: the service was bad and the food lacks depth and refinement and therefore isn't worth the money - it does not compare to other Michelin restaurants I've been to. ~ I've worked in restaurants and also have my fair share of experience dining at high-quality restaurants around the world. I'm more than happy to pay lots for good food, but in my opinion this was just pretentious and not worth it. I wish I'd chosen a different restaurant for my birthday, especially given the bad service... The first thing I noticed when me & my boyfriend walked in was the not so friendly greeting by the hostess. I don't know what it was but the interaction with her was very underwhelming and gave me a bad first impression of the restaurant. she asked us if we wanted to do coat check when we were already at the table - it was a bit crowded and weird that she didn't ask us when we were at the front. Also no birthday greeting (from anyone throughout the whole night) but it was noted on the reservation. Just acknowledging these small details makes a huge difference to the overall experience! But also as a restaurant with a Michelin star, their standards should be a lot more refined with how they treat their guests. The waitress did not come by for a while after we sat, and when she did she also lacked any warmth or friendliness in greeting us, asking us how we were doing, if we've dined here before or offering to walk us through the menu - she did not let us know about the specials they had that evening, and I know this because I heard another server telling his table when we were already halfway through our meal. This waitress was very standoffish and did the bare minimum. She literally took our orders, and besides me asking what she'd recommend as an appetizer, that's the extent of the interaction we had with her. For this calibre of a restaurant she needs to be doing much more in terms of friendliness, making us feel welcome, and showing passion for the food they serve !! The rest of the staff who walked our food out to the table did a good job of explaining all the components of the dishes. I'm mostly just very disappointed with the waitress. The food we had: * foccacia - this was good. I love all things with cheese, but a little more salt would have made the flavour even better. * calamari - this was decent but didn't feel refined based on my expectations for this place * my bf had the vongole - he liked how it had lots of flavour * lobster ravioli - also lots of flavour and I liked the corn and ricotta but again was missing that refinement I was expecting. it wasn't bad either but it's just not a dish I'm obsessed with or would come back for Overall the flavours didn't feel balanced. Food was not bad but not up to my expectations. To be fair, I just came from having meals at some outstanding restaurants in New York and Miami so my expectations are high, but at the same time if you have a Michelin star you need to do better. If I'm thinking of Italian restaurants to dine in Toronto, this would not be the first that comes to mind and I wouldn't recommend based on my experience. I could have chosen a different restaurant for my birthday, potentially spent way less, and been way more satisfied. because of the disappointment, we decided not to get dessert. when my boyfriend asked to get his wallet from his jacket in coat check, the waitress brought mine as well as if we were being rushed to leave. not a pleasant experience. on a positive note, I loved the beautiful interior! I feel bad saying all the criticism because I'm sure the kitchen does put a lot of effort into their work and I really wanted to like this place but my experience was underwhelming and the food unfortunately wasn't amazing enough to make up for the bad service.
We were lucky to get a reservation on new year.
We were only able to get to sit at the bar. The decorations is minimalist design and it's relaxing and welcoming. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 main course. The mushroom risotto is full was covered with truffle, the highlight is the roasted wild mushroom on top of the risotto. It gives some texture to the dish. The sauce is a bit blend, I was expecting a bit better. The clam pasta is amazing. It was made with fresh pasta and made to perfection. You can taste the real taste of seafood. There is a lot more clam meat than the shells on the plate.

This one star Michelin restaurant is super hard to secure a spot! If you're planning to visit this place, book in advanced! My favourite items were the flat bread and chestnut dessert. Note: Their menu changes seasonally.
Brought my cat in for a rust protection service.
Shoukd have gone to my dealership.but this business was closer and mor convenient. if you go "Bring A Dash Cam"!
Osteria Giulia is a great place to enjoy a romantic dinner
Osteria Giulia is a great place to enjoy a romantic dinner with your loved one. A cozy Italian restaurant located in Yorkville. The restaurant has a minimalistic interior with blonde wood and curved limestone walls, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere. The menu focuses on Northern Italian cuisine and delicate coastal, Mediterranean flavor. The standout dishes include the stracchino-stuffed Ligurian flatbread and the squid ink spaghetti paired with Nova Scotia lobster. p.s. they have been awarded a michelin star. Have a read of their review on the michelin site, if you are curious to learn more.
My sister and her partner took me here for my birthday.
I heard you have to make book a table 2 weeks in advance, and they're closed on Thursdays. I was excited to try this restaurant; they received a one Michelin star, and they're known for their seafood dishes. It is a must to get their focaccia bread! It's completely different than a normal focaccia bread we're familiar with. It's basically a flat bread with melted cheese and it was delicious. Their branzino was the best dish of the night as well as their clam pasta. The seafood is all cooked to perfection. The service was good, and the ambiance of the place was modern and clean. Their calamari pasta was unique because the pasta is braided; however, I prefer the clam pasta. Next time, I would try their seafood platter. I heard the platter is amazing! Overall, an amazing night and great way to celebrate my birthday.
Well-deserved Michelin-awarded restaurant.
From the elegance of the decor to the flavors of all the dishes, Osteria Giulia was beyond exceptional. We started the evening by having the sommelier assist us with finding the perfect wine for the table. This is what the table ordered: -Burrata with caviar -Grilled octopus -Focaccia - a few pasta dishes - all the desserts on the menu (no kidding!) The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. A must try when visiting Toronto.
Good food and service, but slightly more expensive than I
Good food and service, but slightly more expensive than I think it's worth. This place is so great for a special occasion - the interior feels clean and warm, and the service is fantastic! They are extremely attentive and were constantly filling out water which is a plus in my book. The food was tasty with well balanced flavors, but I felt it was overpriced...I personally feel that Italian food can only taste so good without going overboard. I would definitely recommend the veal carpaccio and ravioli doppi - very well balanced in both flavor and texture

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
