Osteria da Fortunata - Cancelleria Roma Reviews from The Last Year
Great service great food
Incredible food and great service! Mimmo was the nicest waiter we’ve encountered. Had great recommendations and was very attentive. We’ll definitely be back when we’re in town.
Best Italian cuisine
This spot is one of my favorite restaurants in Italy. The pasta is perfection and you must get the best meatballs I ever had in my life—melts in your mouth. Just amazing.

This was hands down the best meal we had in Roma (and Venezia). I had the veal with potatoes, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. My mom loved the carbonara. The patio was nice and came with a view of women hand rolling pasta, which was really cool to watch. The service was quick and our server was nice. They even have wifi and have QR versions of their menu in many different languages. The menu was marked well based on allergies. I highly recommend coming here on your next visit to Roma.

Great restaurant! Best was the carbonara followed by the cheesecake. The cacio e pepe was too salty. Workers are inside the restaurant making fresh pasta!

Based on the reviews and popularity, we walked several miles from our hotel to try. We had to wait in line to be seated, as did everyone who arrived after us. If you have baggage, I highly suggest dropping it off before eating here. The space is tight. Once inside, you'll have to squeeze your way to your seat, and then it's rush, rush, rush. I believe it's to balance out the wait time outside to get a person in & out. Ask for the WiFi password; your phone will translate the menu and select your order. Once the server arrives, be prepared to give your order promptly, as there isn't much time. We first ordered beer & water to get situated and to quench our thirst. We received the bruschetta, a giant ball of burrata in the center, two slices of bread, one topped with tomatoes & the other with anchovies. We ordered additional bread. Our beverages were served at room temperature; I was pretty upset about the warm beer as we came in feeling parched. Getting the server's attention was challenging, as he was running in & out of the place. I never got the opportunity to address the matter. When I thought I got his attention, I didn't. He was working hard. So I let it go; he had enough to deal with. Our pasta arrived, also lukewarm and stiff as if sitting somewhere before arriving at our table. Our experience did not meet our expectations nor satisfy us, and we did not have an enjoyable, memorable time. In my opinion, the meal was not great. Quite frankly, the restaurant food was overrated, and our experience was rushed.
I'm kind of obsessed with this place.
I'm forever on the hunt for the best handmade pastas and I truly believe they have the best. Texture is lovely and they have mastered the cooking time here. All of the sauces are fantastic but my favorites are the carbonara and amatriciana. Service is fairly quick and they have the ability to seat a ton of people which is great. It's right next to the pantheon so if you're lucky you may even score a great view.
Homemade pasta in the heart of RomePantheon area.
Very nice. If outside is full, second floor!

Food was mediocre and they charged us for food they did not order but made seem to be complimentary. Do not recommend this restaurant.
Service was straight trash.
Pasta is not worth the wait. Every Italian from here agrees. It's all marketing gimmick. Took us 20 minutes till we had to go up and get the menus. It took us another 10 minutes till we had to get up and tell the waiter we were ready to order. And it took another 40 minutes til our food came. It's a tourist trap for sure.

Food and service was amazing, Isabella went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and wanted. So kind.
Went here for our last dinner and it did not disappoint.
The reviews that didn't care for it, I wonder if they just ordered the wrong item or can't appreciate fresh, hand made pasta. We started with a caprese, good ingredients and the mozzarella was tasty. One got the gnocchi with meat sauce, the other Cacio e Pepe (couldn't leave Rome without getting it once!). Finally, we finished with the veal saltimbocca alla romana - wow. The whole dinner was amazing. Antonio was our server and he was great. So were all the other gentleman that helped us. We sat outside and the weather was perfect, it was fun to watch the pasta being made too. Tables are a little close, but is to be expected. We would totally come back and wish we could again before we go!

GREAT! We walked in at 7:30 with no reservation and got seated outside right away. We got a bottle of red and ordered the carbonara and fettuccine with oxtail as the first courses. I LOVED the noodles of the carbonara - taste very homemade and cooked perfectly al dente. The oxtail was great as well, but had a lot of fat which honestly was great. We also ordered veal Marsala (which we didn't need) as the "secondi" and it was alright. The pastas were the star!
This restaurant is popular for their hand made pasta.
But it's not my favorite. It's more like undercooked than al dente. My carbonara was too salty and plain. And the Balogna was just okay nothing special. But i would definitely come back for the their home made meat balls. That I would definitely recommend as well as the staff who were very friendly. And for everyone's information, Osteria Da Fortunata is a restaurant chain. There were 3 restaurants in the same location.
For how popular the place is online I had zero wait time
For how popular the place is online I had zero wait time which was so lucky the food is so good and the man that worked there which seemed like the manager was very friendly and nice . The carbonara was really good and the gnocchi as well it's a lot of heavy food though we were stuffed lol and the tiramisu was good too a big piece you could share
Always a long line in front of this place.
Tonight we decided to wait and the wait was worth it. We both ordered the Carbonera. The strozzapreti farina was handmade right in front of us. They use only the best smoked guanciale crisped up in a skillet like grandma used to do. Great Parmesan mixed with the local pecorino and just enough pepe to have a little bite. The portions were plentiful and we should have split one serving and sampled some desserts. Clean ristorante with good service. Don't miss this place a block off the Navona Piazza.

This was an excellent first evening meal for an American traveller. The food was good and the service too. Good wines by the glass, which we have found isn't typical in Rome. Prices are amazingly lower than we expected.
We went to the location in Rome close to Campo di Fiori.
We got lucky since it was later in the evening and were seated quickly. I think I had much higher expectations because of all of the social media hype. It wasn't bad but it didn't blow my mind. Fresh, hand made pasta is always nice though!
Every time I go to Rome I go here multiple times.
The service is friendly and warm, the food is delicious, and it just feels like home away from home. There's always a blend of locals and some tourists. The only time I've ever had to make myself throw up after a meal is after I way over ordered here and couldn't help but finish my plates. No regrets, I'd do it again. Get the tiramisu.

Food was excellent however there was a huge line which I waited an hour for and the host accepted a 10 euro bill for a party of 4 to skip the line. Not cool.
the ratings are so high but the food is solid.
don't think it's anything special but gets the job done. If I ever visit Rome again not sure I would hit this place because there's so much other food in the area. I literally couldn't finish the cacio e pepe but worth the try I guess??
I wanted confirm the buzz about Osteria da Fortunata.
Walked in and was quickly sat for a table for 5. The place is "snug" by American standards meaning you may be sitting very close to another party. But I've travelled enough where that cultural barrier is not a thing. Seated facing the front window were 2 people hand making pasta. We had to order the Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, & the Amatriciana. I personally had 2 glasses of house red which was good. Pasta was slightly al dente with a chewy texture. Even my 10 y/o daughter ate the Cacio e Pepe and that was a compliment. Believe me, as a parent progressing her from Mac & Cheese to Fettuccine Alfredo to now being able to eat Cacio e Pepe. She originally ask for Fet. Alfredo which I politely shot down saying that is an "American dish" air quotes. All in all. Great food. Great service. PRO TIP: don't expect the servers to hover over you or check in every 10 minutes like American servers which is nice.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
