Superb as usual
We came for our birthdays. We had to come early to secure a table on a Saturday evening - they were absolutely full. I had tuna tartare for starter, veal schnitzel for main and bread and butter pudding for dessert. The food was all amazing and as usual the service was great. We had champagne to start and a glass of wine with our meal. Including cruditรฉs, coffee, petit fours and service we spent about ยฃ95 per head.

My birthday treat mixed in with our 10 year anniversary. Was so excited to visit Oslo Court having lived in nearby Primrose Hill for 25 years. Raving reviews from our friends that visit regularly! On arrival all very rushed, I went to the toilet and came back to my husband holding various menus, surely let's start with drinks. We were a table of two that seems invisible, no one interacted with us. 40 mins for our mains which I must add was Devine! That gave you a plus. Wine delivered ( by a very unwelcome face) no chat/very square/ robotic, rude!!! Wine then left over by the toilets so we couldn't help ourselves, no one attempted to serve so I was tempted to help myself and nearly did every trip to the ladies. Service, PANTS! I wonder why my husband payed service charge. Overall you are a 6 out of 10, we will NOT be returning!!!
Be the first to ReplyExceedingly busy - for good reason
Alright, the place is a time warp. But it is dependable for good comfort food. And the service had to cope on an exceedingly busy evening. But they did, even if there were a few delays in initial ordering. But the overall result was enjoyable, and that is what counts

Oslo Court is one of best restaurants of its kind . If you like prawn cocktail succulent steaks and crepe suzette this is the place to come . Service is excellent, food is old school but varied and tasty and portion sizes are enormous. Itโs popularity has withstood the test of time and long may this continue
Be the first to ReplyThe food was fine, service really poor.
The food was fine, service really poor. We had to ask just get some menus, then again to place our orders, then yet again just to get a wine list. Staff seemed greatly overworked, and some of them were quite rude. Our party of 7 certainly wasn't made to feel welcome or valued. When we eventually got to place our order (about an hour after arriving) the food came surprisingly quickly and was fair enough, but not exceptional. The restaurant was very crowded, with tables packed in and unpleasantly noisy - due to the close proximity of so many other diners. Overall, it was quite expensive for what it was, but I suppose you should expect that for the location - about ยฃ80 per head, including drinks and 12% service charge. It was ok, nothing I would complain about, but I wouldn't go again.
Be the first to ReplyAn effortlessly elegant meal & service - not to be missed
Dined at Oslo Court as a special Christmas treat to enjoy some French cuisine in London and some sparkling silver service on pink tablecloths by the wonderful staff at the restaurant. Booked nearly 2 months in advance such is the demand to get a table on a Saturday night and it was definitely worth the wait. Everything was exquisite from start to finish. You are greeted as an old friend on arrival and your coat is taken and shown to your table , the candle is lit and the server places a napkin on your lap and old school Melba toasts and some cruditรฉs are placed on the table while you peruse the menu. The choices are amazing, something for everyone. My yellowfin tuna tartare was delicious, fresh tasting and looked very pretty with the cucumber finishes. The crab ร la Rochelle was indeed puff pastry shaped like a crab and served with brandy sauce, it was outstanding. Main course of cรดte de veau was divine, the meat cooked perfectly and it was a good sized portion served with as much veggies as you wanted - carrots, fried zucchini, green beans , carrots, cauliflower cheese , potatoes or frites - the list goes on. The fillet mignon was served with a simple yet tasty mushroom, shallot and red wine sauce - French foodie heaven. Dessert choices numbered at least 15 ! from French crรชpes Suzette to a bowl of ice cream , tarte tatin or some profiteroles , remember to save some room as my tart tatin with ice cream was heavenly. Tea and coffee is also included as well as some petit fours so you will not leave hungry, you certainly get value for your ยฃ55. Wine list was well priced and something to suit all pockets - total came to ยฃ164.64 including 12% service and a bottle of red for ยฃ37 . Some of the items have a supplement but most do not. It was a lovely evening and fellow diners were all having a great time too enjoying the old-fashioned French cuisine which is perfectly executed and served up flawlessly by the super staff . It's an evening well spent if you get the change and not to be missed.
Be the first to ReplySuper food. Generally excellent service but do check your bill!
We came twice during December. Both times the food was superb. The service was generally excellent but some of the newer staff show their inexperience. The only niggle was in the bills. The first time I had to point out a missing bottle of wine at ยฃ50, the second time they hadn't charged for champagne but did charge for an extra dinner!!
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievably fantastic. Can't rate it highly enough
6 of us went last night for my husband's special birthday. All I can say is wow - it never disappoints. The service is second to none, the ambience and decor is beautiful - even the toilets are luxurious. The main event though is the food. The menu is large and varied, and seems to contain all my favourites - everyone's meals were piping hot, delicious, and huge portions - I think we rolled out at the end of the night and I was still full the next day. One of the highlights is Neil the dessert waiter. He no longer has his famous trolley but it doesn't stop him tempting you with delicious dessert. On top of that he was made a large, delicious cake - which we were too full to even taste - so it was packed up for us to take home. We tasted it this afternoon - gorgeous. I nearly forgot that the meal includes a hot drink. In my case a decaf latte which was delicious and came with a heart on top. Totally faultless, and it's easy to see why they are booked up all the time. Can't wait to go back.

21st Anniversary of visiting and still as good as ever - please just donโt tell anyone else !!! Special mention as ever for the staff - particularly Neal.

Fabulous restaurant with plentiful food and great service. Quirky and lovely. The service was great, with lovely friendly attentive staff.
Be the first to ReplyApparent greed
What a total disappointment! Went to Oslo court for lunch today and was bitterly disappointed. What used to be a lovely venue with good food and nice ambiance, is now no better than cattle market. Far too many tables crammed in, so many people that you had to shout to the people in your table to be heard. Service appalling and the majority of dishes now carry a hefty supplement , so now the bill is doubled the expected set price. Had to ask 3 times for my cutlery and the cauliflower cheese turned up when we had virtually all finished. No more desert trolley as no room to walk between tables let alone get a trolley past. The food is as good as its ever been but certainly won't be returning at a weekend. Such a shame as its so obvious that greed has overtaken the enjoyment of the place. We have been going for many many years but today's experience has left us not wanting to return!!!

Went last night for the first time. Oslo Court had been on my bucket list for years and it definitely lived up to itโs reputation. Extremely kind and friendly staff which serves beautiful food and wine. I will definitely be going back and would recommend. At first it seems weird as if you are walking into someoneโs apartment that is some what dated, however this is the charm of this restaurant. Absolutely excellent experience.
Be the first to ReplyNorwegian definitely โwoodโ eat here
Where do I start? Oslo court, the iconic St Johnโs Wood restaurant, has been written about countless times over the years by critics, occasional visitors and regular diners. It seems to divide opinion. Hereโs my take.. I was fortunate to experience lunch here today, for the first time, for a family celebration. As soon as you enter the restaurant staff make you feel very welcome, almost as if dining โat home,โ which is apt considering the restaurant is housed on the ground floor of the famous apartment block of the same name. The atmosphere is one of quiet efficiency and professionalism by the front of house and waiting staff. Think 1930s-1940s for the ambiance and restaurant decor, pink retro napkins adorn each place and a welcoming table with toast and cruditรฉs, as you take your seat. Itโs like stepping back in time in a little corner of NW London. The menu and wine list are both very comprehensive. The restaurant prides itself on French style cuisine, which it has successfully served for many years now. I had the three course set menu for a very reasonable price. Waiting staff arenโt numerous but discreetly take table orders as required, politely and elegantly as if from a bygone age. Neil, the dessert waiter, deserves a special menu for his enthusiasm, knowledge of menu and polite manner, recommending special dishes that werenโt on the menu. So, how was the food? To start, a trout and salmon pate with toast and side salad on the specials menu. Fresh and delicious. Main course, Dover sole meuniรจre, filleted and cooked to perfection. Sublime flavour, very classy. Sides included fried zucchini, sautรฉed potato, latkes, French beans, cauliflower cheese, peas - fresh, hot and the perfect accompaniment. To finish, stewed apple pancake with vanilla ice cream. Incredible. Oslo court is very much an experience dining destination. Eating here is a real treat and this is reflected throughout in the atmosphere, decor, sublime fresh food menu and welcome/service you receive. 5 stars, I couldnโt fault it.

This place is a real hidden gem! The food is absolutely amazing and service fantastic! We were recommended by people who had visited years ago and the place has clearly not changed it is brilliant!

A wonderful birthday treat. Truly the best meal this decade. Staff were lovely, food was sublime, atmosphere was jovial. This is my new favourite restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Oslo
I had been here with my parents some 30+ years ago and for so long had said to my husband that I would really like us to go there. We had an opportunity in November and still all these years later it didnโt disappoint. Located underneath apartments in St Johnโs Wood the decor is salmon (everywhere), itโs like walking back in time. Their set evening 3 course meal is ยฃ54 and is fabulous value for money, itโs no wonder it is always packed. We had onion soup and whitebait to start, followed by the most delicious grilled dover sole and veal schnitzel. Vegetables are included and are certainly plentiful. We had a wonderful evening, great to remember good times with my parents and create new memories with my husband. Highly recommend a visit, be sure to book well in advance, it is so popular.
Be the first to ReplySimply the best!
The title says it all - the food, service and the ambience are all exemplary! Not cheap but in my opinion, worth every penny.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing
After years of going to Oslo Court on Christmas Day, this year was a real disappointment. The food was quite simply, not very nice at all. The normal, exemplary waiter service was lacking. I was really hoping to have more great memories but unfortunately this was not the case. You would expect much more for ยฃ200 a head. We will be going elsewhere next Christmas.

For years Iโve been told this is an experience. It is. Itโs an experience from the 70โs. Dusky pink table cloths and napkins. Grey velvet seats and that โblueโ carpet your mum and dad had. The food was made for me. Lobster Steak Diane chicken princess. I could eat everything on the menu. Which is not normal for me. The checkin guy has all the patter. Madame such a beautiful coat etc. All the patter. We loved it. Service good and atmosphere like a cruise ship or seaside hotel. The Jewish community love this place. Would go back again.

Just love this place. You are treated amazingly from even booking on the phone. The staff canโt do enough for you. The choice is incredible and you can have as many sides as you want. Everything is homemade even the tartare sauce and mayonnaise. Itโs like being in the 80s which I love as feels comforting, warm and nostalgic. The staff all make you feel like you are their best friends. One of my most favourite restaurants. Thank you for being so lovely and amazing
Be the first to ReplySadly loses two stars
I've been going to the Oslo Court for an annual treat more years than I care to remember and I have always rated it 5*. Sadly it only rates 3* based on my latest experience. We went with friends who, like us, were looking forward to again experiencing excellent retro French-style food, engaging and entertaining staff, and the sheer vitality of a place that continues to plough its own furrow. Unfortunately, food this time was mediocre and felt expensive for what it was. With a set price of ยฃ52 pp (plus service and drinks) one would not expect to have to pay a supplement of ยฃ7.50 for fish goujons, or ยฃ6.50 for lamb, for example. The food simply wasn't up to usual standards: flaccid asparagus was more tinned than fresh, halibut and salmon en croute was bland and small, and saute potatoes were powdery and more like badly roasted potatoes. Covid has put paid to the flamboyantly-served dessert trolley and instead there's a selection of bought-in desserts which were fine but not outstanding. Previous reviews have rightly mentioned the galvanising effects of Maria and some of her long-standing staff. Unfortunately on our visit Maria did not come round to each table as she used to and was not much in evidence. Service was efficient, but remote and robotic, which is very much not the Oslo Court way. Our dinner was by no means awful, but we came away having spent over ยฃ65 each feeling disappointed, and yearning for just how good it used to be. Hopefully this is a one-off problem as I'd love Oslo Court to thrive for the next 40 years as it has for the last 40. But if it doesn't improve on this showing, we regretfully won't be rushing back.
Be the first to ReplyIt All Started So Well...
We visited Oslo Court for dinner recently, determined to find out what it's all about. As many others I'm sure have said, the space and decor are a little quirky, and the menu in places harks back to the 1970s. Nevertheless, portions are generous and the quality of cooking is generally very good; some shell in the very generous crab salad was disappointing, but on the other hand my main of duck with orange sauce was excellent - a beautifully roasted and tender duck.
Service started well, but as the evening progressed we seemed to be increasingly forgotten; a request for a glass of port with my cheese was not fulfilled; in the end we had to get up from the table and leave, in order to get the bill. Maria, acting as maitre d' or similar, brings some well needed energy to the proceedings, but perhaps that needs to rub off on a few of the other staff?
Overall, an enjoyable evening.
An amazing restaurant with a variety of dishes that just won't find anywhere else
You may be a little worried by the set price meal option but don't be. There is an amazing choice at each of the three courses, and I mean a vast selection that you will struggle to find at any other restaurant. The food quality is excellent and the staff, there are a lot of them, are amazing, attentive and friendly.
Great value and highly recommended.
