Oslo Court Restaurant London Reviews from The Last Year
Superb as usual
We came for our birthdays. We had to come early to secure a table on a Saturday evening - they were absolutely full. I had tuna tartare for starter, veal schnitzel for main and bread and butter pudding for dessert. The food was all amazing and as usual the service was great. We had champagne to start and a glass of wine with our meal. Including crudités, coffee, petit fours and service we spent about £95 per head.
Oslo
My birthday treat mixed in with our 10 year anniversary. Was so excited to visit Oslo Court having lived in nearby Primrose Hill for 25 years. Raving reviews from our friends that visit regularly! On arrival all very rushed, I went to the toilet and came back to my husband holding various menus, surely let's start with drinks. We were a table of two that seems invisible, no one interacted with us. 40 mins for our mains which I must add was Devine! That gave you a plus. Wine delivered ( by a very unwelcome face) no chat/very square/ robotic, rude!!! Wine then left over by the toilets so we couldn't help ourselves, no one attempted to serve so I was tempted to help myself and nearly did every trip to the ladies. Service, PANTS! I wonder why my husband payed service charge. Overall you are a 6 out of 10, we will NOT be returning!!!
Exceedingly busy - for good reason
Alright, the place is a time warp. But it is dependable for good comfort food. And the service had to cope on an exceedingly busy evening. But they did, even if there were a few delays in initial ordering. But the overall result was enjoyable, and that is what counts
A culinary trip down memory lane
Oslo Court is one of best restaurants of its kind . If you like prawn cocktail succulent steaks and crepe suzette this is the place to come . Service is excellent, food is old school but varied and tasty and portion sizes are enormous. It’s popularity has withstood the test of time and long may this continue
The food was fine, service really poor.
The food was fine, service really poor. We had to ask just get some menus, then again to place our orders, then yet again just to get a wine list. Staff seemed greatly overworked, and some of them were quite rude. Our party of 7 certainly wasn't made to feel welcome or valued. When we eventually got to place our order (about an hour after arriving) the food came surprisingly quickly and was fair enough, but not exceptional. The restaurant was very crowded, with tables packed in and unpleasantly noisy - due to the close proximity of so many other diners. Overall, it was quite expensive for what it was, but I suppose you should expect that for the location - about £80 per head, including drinks and 12% service charge. It was ok, nothing I would complain about, but I wouldn't go again.
Super food. Generally excellent service but do check your bill!
We came twice during December. Both times the food was superb. The service was generally excellent but some of the newer staff show their inexperience. The only niggle was in the bills. The first time I had to point out a missing bottle of wine at £50, the second time they hadn't charged for champagne but did charge for an extra dinner!!
An effortlessly elegant meal & service - not to be missed
Dined at Oslo Court as a special Christmas treat to enjoy some French cuisine in London and some sparkling silver service on pink tablecloths by the wonderful staff at the restaurant. Booked nearly 2 months in advance such is the demand to get a table on a Saturday night and it was definitely worth the wait. Everything was exquisite from start to finish. You are greeted as an old friend on arrival and your coat is taken and shown to your table , the candle is lit and the server places a napkin on your lap and old school Melba toasts and some crudités are placed on the table while you peruse the menu. The choices are amazing, something for everyone. My yellowfin tuna tartare was delicious, fresh tasting and looked very pretty with the cucumber finishes. The crab à la Rochelle was indeed puff pastry shaped like a crab and served with brandy sauce, it was outstanding. Main course of côte de veau was divine, the meat cooked perfectly and it was a good sized portion served with as much veggies as you wanted - carrots, fried zucchini, green beans , carrots, cauliflower cheese , potatoes or frites - the list goes on. The fillet mignon was served with a simple yet tasty mushroom, shallot and red wine sauce - French foodie heaven. Dessert choices numbered at least 15 ! from French crêpes Suzette to a bowl of ice cream , tarte tatin or some profiteroles , remember to save some room as my tart tatin with ice cream was heavenly. Tea and coffee is also included as well as some petit fours so you will not leave hungry, you certainly get value for your £55. Wine list was well priced and something to suit all pockets - total came to £164.64 including 12% service and a bottle of red for £37 . Some of the items have a supplement but most do not. It was a lovely evening and fellow diners were all having a great time too enjoying the old-fashioned French cuisine which is perfectly executed and served up flawlessly by the super staff . It's an evening well spent if you get the change and not to be missed.
Unbelievably fantastic. Can't rate it highly enough
6 of us went last night for my husband's special birthday. All I can say is wow - it never disappoints. The service is second to none, the ambience and decor is beautiful - even the toilets are luxurious. The main event though is the food. The menu is large and varied, and seems to contain all my favourites - everyone's meals were piping hot, delicious, and huge portions - I think we rolled out at the end of the night and I was still full the next day. One of the highlights is Neil the dessert waiter. He no longer has his famous trolley but it doesn't stop him tempting you with delicious dessert. On top of that he was made a large, delicious cake - which we were too full to even taste - so it was packed up for us to take home. We tasted it this afternoon - gorgeous. I nearly forgot that the meal includes a hot drink. In my case a decaf latte which was delicious and came with a heart on top. Totally faultless, and it's easy to see why they are booked up all the time. Can't wait to go back.
Keep it a secret please.
21st Anniversary of visiting and still as good as ever - please just don’t tell anyone else !!! Special mention as ever for the staff - particularly Neal.
Great experience
