Definitely a SF hidden gem! The food was really good! We arrived at around 6 on Saturday and they had happy hour on their appetizers (buy one get one 1/2 off) until 6:30 which surprised me because its hard to find happy hour deals on SaturdayBut the food was delicious, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was so relaxing and romantic! I'm definitely coming back to try their drinks and more food! You could make a reservation or just wake in!

Probably one of the best southern food hangouts in SF! Great gumbo, shrimp&grits, collard greens, ribs and fried chicken. Recently renovated and has a jazz bar vibe. Live music. And to top it off, you support the youth program when dining here.

The service and food was really wonderful! I dined alone and enjoyed chatting with my server. They introduced me to the establishment and recommended the ribs, gumbo, and the peanut stew which I went with and I'm SO glad I did. I didn't add meat to it, just plain stew and I was happily surprised at the amount of veggies that were! Then the chef, who is a young person, came out and said they made it and wow that was so special and they are amazingly talented because that soup SMACK! Try it for yourself. This experience was really nice and their values are meaningful, I definitely recommend coming here if you're in the Bayview.

Be the first to ReplyWe had such an amazing dinner tonight.
The food and cocktails were incredibly delicious, and all of the employees were so friendly. Also, the restaurant is really supportive of high school students and the community. Definitely stop by for HANDS DOWN the best soul food served in a speakeasy vibe.
Be the first to ReplyMy dinner was excellent , very flavorful.
.. the service was a little slow for it not to be a packed place , the setting is warm & cozy ... 3 because their menu changed since my last visit , so I know now not to ask to many questions about what's in the dish

Wow ! Fantastic, creative menu along with a beautiful setting. What else could you want. If you have a gluten allergy or prefer a vegetarian meal, it's all here. We have been coming to SF for many years and this is clearly our favorite place. Well done!

Great ambiance! The jazz band upstairs was fantastic, the food and service were excellent. We had peanut butter stew that was really good as well as cauliflower macaroni & cheese. All the food was great. Highly recommended!

The restaurant was pretty hard to find, and I'm glad we took Muni because there would've been very little street parking. It was also interesting how you have to go through a side door that almost looks like you're stepping into a nightclub. Still, it's very nice because you see all the photos, and you think you're being transported back in time to the 50s with the velvet, burgundy cushions, and the golden mahogany bar. I like that this restaurant hires at-risk youth and gives them a sense of pride and purpose in their work. Our server went out of his way and gave us recommendations on what he liked, but we went with our selections. The cocktails were very nice - classic ones such as the old-fashioned ones, and you could taste the sweet syrup. We had some sweet potato amuse-bouches to start, but they were a little too sweet for my taste on top of a sweet cocktail. One of my favorites on the menu was a peanut stew called groundnut stew that originated in West Africa. My husband got the fried chicken plate that was to die for. One problem I had with the groundnut stew is that while it was salted and had some good nodes, I felt the overall flavor profile tasted more akin to peanut butter rather than a medley of tomatoes, onions, and other aromatics that did not give the depth that I had become accustomed to or wanted in this dish. There was too much rice to stew, and the ratio was off; I would've loved more stew.We got dessert but felt the cheesecake could have been better than other cheesecakes we've had in the past. Also, I wouldn't pair lavender with cheesecake--one star off for the main course and dessert course, but otherwise lovely experience.

Ever since the arena opened, I was hoping to try foods that I'd never had before. I'd heard about this business having a restaurant but have yet to try them, dine-in or takeout. In fact, a friend gave me gift certificates for their restaurant in 2019 which we obviously have not used yet.Since I come to Chase Center the better of thirty plus times per year for games and concerts, I was hoping to try their foods but was never able to find this stand... until now, that is. In attending a pregame event in the Modelo Lounge of Chase Center, we walked right by this stand. When said event ended, it was a slam dunk that we'd be getting our pregame meal from here. Please note that they have an abbreviated menu given the size of the kitchen and stand. I started with the braised short rib brisket sandwich (<a href="https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mwZmoYR4RbwbWU3ueYr9XA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q">yelp.com/user_local_phot…</a>); you would have difficulties from the picture from seeing that this is a sandwich, given the amount of filling. As I struggled to squeeze the two bread pieces together and bite, it became increasingly obvious that the best option is to eat it as an open-faced sandwich. The filling of meat pieces and cole slaw and red onions made this a sizeable meal, to the point that my friend reminded me that I didn't eat my last piece of braised short rib. It was tender and tasty, reminded me of pot roast. We also shared an order of the mac and three cheese (<a href="https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=78R4UZ5mrBPcBixfWBeRSw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q">yelp.com/user_local_phot…</a>); this was very interesting in that it tasted like a mix of mashed potatoes with its fluffiness with the mac and cheese flavors. As we waited for our food at the stand, I noticed that a couple also ordered this likely to share at their seats, likely calling this a heavy snack. The two ladies at the stand were very nice, reminding us of the discount in using a Chase Card to pay and exceeding a designated dollar amount. If you are hungry while here for a game or concert, I believe that you'll be full or more after finishing that sandwich.
