AMAZING!
I was a little unsure when we made the reservation but a friend recommended. When we arrived the valet gave us recommendations which was great. The entire staff is FANTASTIC! They explain things about sharing each thing and that is the way to go. They are prompt with drinks, they space out and bring out the food perfectly. Absolutely nothing but positive comments about this place and would return any time.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Farm-To-Table Restaurant Inspired by Texas Framers and Ranchers
While visiting in Austin, my friend's nephew recommended this place and stated it was his favorite restaurant. The ambiance is casual and relaxed, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and happy to explain each item brought to your table. The menu changes monthly and the back of the menu explains this place the best. Odd Duck is "a place to share food, drink and hospitality shaped by our craftsman's approach to cooking, the culture of our city, the creativity of our staff, and the products from our amazing farmers." This farm-to-table restaurant hits all the right notes. The menu items are meant to be shared and they are much larger than tapas (and some could be a full meal for one person!) The three of us decided to share various items as follows. The Ceviche consisted of carrot leche de tigre, strawberry, radish and potato chips. The staff member that brought the plate to the table requested we crush the potato chips into the ceviche to enhance the flavor and he was spot on! It tasted heavenly. We next had the Grilled Kale Salad which was a mixture of fennel, citrus, sunchoke dukkah with shiitake ranch dressing. I've never tasted Kale salad so good, plus it was grilled! We complimented both items with the Cast Iron Cheddar Cornbread with green garlic butter - perfect combination with the ceviche and salad. For the main course items, we did the Stuffed Quail with crab XO rice, braised greens, beet BBQ, and fried chicken skin. It was small given it is quail and it wasn't my or his aunt's favorite, but the nephew raved about it and ate the majority of it himself. So, if you like quail.... The Aged Pork Loin was amazing and there was plenty of it to share. It came with tzatziki sauce, caramelized fennel, beets and fried chickpeas. It was delicious! Our final choice was the Chile beer glazed Short Rib with radish kimchi, sweet potato and peanuts. The meat was tender, juicy and easily fell apart. Needless to say, it was the table's all-around favorite. We even had several items boxed up to take home and all tasted just as good the next day. If you are visiting Ausitn, this definitely needs to be on your list of restaurants to try. In addition, if you want to pick up any souvenirs, $5 from all merchandise sales goes to the Central Texas Food Bank. So, you can have a great meal and support a local charity. What more encouragement do you need? Please note - reservations are strongly encouraged.

This place was fantastic! From the thrift sourced mis matched plates, to the knowledgable staff. Family style so you can try numerous delicious options. Which is great because it would be hard to choose! Must try if in Austin

The food is incredible! Like literally the flavors are wow and the staff are lovely. We were welcomed with a real Texas charm. We’ll be recommending this spot FOR SURE.

Based on a recommendation from my mother (long story) we were able to score a reservation at this new hot spot in Austin. Fun food pairings (pork birria taco inside a Wagyu burger or boudin with pickled veg on top) paired with a cool Austin vibe and super hip and fun staff (shout out to JP!) made this unexpected night quite memorable. We would recommend the entire experience to any our friends! Hoping to visit again and try the rest of the menu ne t time we are in town. Oh! The cocktails and wine list are not to be missed either!

Be the first to ReplyGood, BUT I was expecting more
I read a review that said, Almost THE BEST meal I've ever eaten!" This person must not get out much because in the 3.5 days I was in Austin I ate at 4 places that were better than Odd Duck. I'm not saying Odd Duck is bad, hence the 4 stars, but it's not amazing or incredible. There were four of us that dined here. We had 3 different entrees and 4 appetizers so we had a good variety and sampling of the menu. Nothing off the charts. Atmosphere is ok. After we had dinner he we walked to Terry Black's to try the bbq there. :-)

Cannot say enough; farm to table deliciousness. A table of four we ordered 8 dishes to come randomly & shared & i would recommend this as you get to experience more of the Chef’s creative combinations of flavors. We had, corn ribs, red fish ceviche, melon salad, lamb, wagyu burger, cornbread & two desserts - All of which were orgasms of sight, smell & taste. I want to live here! As a bonus, the staff are wonderful- all working together to make sure your experience is the best it can be. Knowledgeable about the food & wines’ sourcing & preparation, they’re friendly & obviously professional. (I think they must feed them, which would explain how happy they are to work there!) Cannot go into the intricacies of each dish as it would take forever, but please trust me, you want to eat here.

The kitchen here definitely hues to its own path, and usually that's a good thing. Occasionally a dish isn't quite as good as it sounds, but for the most part the food is excellent and unique. Nice intimate dining room and good service.

I recently visited Odd Duck on a trip to Austin with friends. We had a great experience here. Delicious food, great drinks and excellent service. We didn’t do the small plates to share; we just each chose our own and felt full at the end. And don’t skip the desserts!

Solo dinner after arriving in Austin 1hr before. Can quite honestly say it was one of the most delicious meals I’ve had in a long time. I had 3 of the veggie dishes, an incredible dessert and lovely wines. Great atmosphere. The service was brilliant by Kiwi Alistair. Couldn’t recommend this place more!
Be the first to ReplyBest culinary experience in a LONG time!
This place is a MUST do! Amazing small plates, great drink menu and the farm-to-table experience is fantastic! We let our waiter choose our food and it could not have been more perfect.

What a pleasure to watch the sun go down and the lights of downtown come up from a hill in South Austin after having a delicious and creative meal. Odd Duck has energy without excessive noise, excellent service and awesome food. I love ceviche, but the sweet potato leche took it to another level. The crisped oyster mushrooms with beet chevre was a totally creative salad. And a word about waygu. Restaurants slap that word on and want us to think "oh wow," and it should be, but as often as not it's a waste of expensive protein. Here, a basic burger showed how you should use waygu. Our burger was amazing, and the addition of chicarones and braised greens was inspired, adding favors and textures we did not see coming. The pork loin with pork fat congee also was unctuous and left lingering flavors in our mouths. And the dried chile chocolate pie with whipped white chocolate peanut butter was awesome, though I'd cut the white chocolate so teh peanut butter would be stronger. I hope when you eat here, the ever changing menu is as good as the one we had!

We ordered two salads, and both were delicious and fresh. The wagu burger was also amazing. Great service and good wine selection.

Wonderful vibe w burlap potatoe bags for light fixtures, mismatched chairs and plates . Had kale beignets , sunchoke salad , ceviche and burger at our table . Great service and yummy flavors. You can buy beer for the kitchen, or T shirt that gives proceeds to local food bank ..and the valet was a master ! More restaurants should have a valet.. makes the overall
Experience so much better as parking is always a factor . We often opt to walk to dinner rather than get in the car for that reason.
Nice to be back!
Great visit! We had a lovely meal. Our server was knowledgeable about all the food and beverages. Every dish was wonderful. We got some birthday love for our daughter. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyOdd Duck is a gem!
My husband and I visited Odd Duck during F1 weekend after seeing it on many lists for Austin. The review should start with my communications with the restaurant when it took WAYYY longer to leave the racetrack than I could have ever imagined. Despite this being a very popular restaurant, they held our reservation for an additional 45 minutes! I am certain they would have had no problem seating that table, so this was a much appreciated courtesy. Our waiter, Joe, was a fun guy who helped us decide on some great dishes. After a vodka-soda to shake the 3 hours of traffic, we started with the smoked butternut squash. There was a lot going on with this dish, which can usually go either way, but all of the flavors went together perfectly. Next, we had the fried quail and the dry aged wagyu burger. Another great flavor combo choice! We weren't sure about the bbq sauce being on the burger, but it was more of a mole flavored sauce with a little heat but not a burn. I also went with a sparkling rose', which Joe told me was from the vineyard with the highest elevation in Europe (from Spain) so that was a neat fact. I took a photo of it so I can order some when home. The view of the skyline was beautiful from the outdoor patio dining. Overall, we loved this farm-to-table restaurant and will be back on our next trip to Austin!
