Maybe we visited on an off day, but personally didn't get the hype of Nopa. Rating reflects experience as a whole - atmosphere, service, cocktail, but personally wouldn't rate food more than 3 stars from this visit. My partner and I were in the neighborhood Friday evening and decided to stop in without a reservation. Luckily, there was room at the communal table and we got in! This was our first try of Nopa. The greatest benefit of the communal table is we got an immediate preview of what dishes looked like. We also had a great view of the gorgeous huge windows and Divisadero Street. Nopa prides itself on locally/regionally sourced ingredients. The restaurant maintains a daily menu- sadly failed to get a picture of Friday's menu. Nopa has a lovely atmosphere- trendy and classy yet casual, welcoming To start, I ordered a cocktail, the 50/50 Martini. Delightful cocktail - Great orange flavor accompanied by gin. Priced at $18. For food, we decided to try an appetizer first and then decide. It was early in the evening so we weren't sure if we just wanted a lite bite or to have dinner. We opted for the lamb kebab, $19. In short, disappointing. Ground lamb was bland and dry. Served with tzatziki, lettuce/endive and pickled onions, roasted orange. Meat could have been elevated by tomato or other vegetables. Presentation was lackluster. Portion size minimal. Wouldn't order again. Based on the kebab, and what we were seeing for portions of entree dishes at the table, we decided to close out and eat somewhere else.

Came here for Friday dinner for which we made a reservation a couple weeks ago. Very lively vibes (a bit loud on the ambience side), and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The menu was printed for the day (apparently a lot of the menu items change daily with a few selections fixed permanently), and we ordered the grilled broccoli for appetizer, with Pork Chop and NY Steak as the entrees. More than enough food for the two of us, and the pork chop was one of the most delicious pieces of meat I've ever had! My friend really enjoyed the steak as well!! Wanted to try some od their other menus so will be back in no time!

Fried fish appetizer was amazing, brisket was solid, fries were a miss. A little pricey but would come back again for the atmosphere and to try other things!
Be the first to ReplyNopa is one of those places your hear about all the time
Nopa is one of those places your hear about all the time and there's definitely a reason for that. Even on a Monday, every single table was filled so reservations are definitely recommended. We were a group of 4 and the waitress did an amazing job walking us through the menu and giving us recommendations for sharing family style. The menu changes daily and a lot of the entrees are pretty large so definitely shareable. For appetizers we got fries, flatbread, and this tuna crisp. I would recommend the flatbread if you're a fan of bread and the tuna crisp had lots of flavor. For the entree, we got this lamb dish that was just spectacular; I've never had lamb that was cooked so well. We also got a bolognese which was good but just wasn't the standout dish compared to the lamb. Since the 4 of us shared, it was a very reasonably priced meal and we were all pretty full afterwards.

Nice ambience, good food staff was professional and friendly. We had reservations but arrived an hour early and they were able to accommodate us. Much appreciated! We were visiting the Bay Area from the East Coast.

Nm. First off, there Nnaan here are huge! One order nn is good for 2. It4n x. comes out hot and fresh. So, don't forget to order the Naan. I highly recommend that. We had the shrimp korma, egg fried rice and malai kofta. All of the dishes were pretty good. I think we'll try medium spicy next time we come over. The staff was very friendly and the place was very clean.

Classy spot on divis for a fancier catch up! Good for going with a group bc their dishes are sharable "tapas" style Definitely a busy spot, so book a reservation to come. Main course options were good, but nothing stood out to us. Only wower were the dessert options! We all agreed we would consider coming back just for the dessert.
Be the first to ReplyNopa continues to be, in my opinion, the best overall
Nopa continues to be, in my opinion, the best overall restaurant in San Francisco. When you consider the food, service, ambiance, and overall attention to presenting an experience that represents the local region the best it can, there really is no better place to dine in the Bay Area for everyone (fine dining excluded of course!) I've been here dozens of time and I've never had a bad meal. I've always tried some of the new things on the menu and regardless of the style everything has been fresh, filling and delicious. But it's always difficult to deviate from some of the standards here because they're just so comforting and sentimental to me: the tomato baked beans and the broccoli are just perfect sides for everything, the pork chop (when it's available) is the most delicious (and generous) of its kind anywhere, and even the juicy burger will do in most situations. The wine selection is really representative of the local region and the servers are always knowledgable on great pairings for your choices. The ambiance can be a bit loud in this place so come prepared for that but I find it fun and lively. Also one of the best things about Nopa is that it is often serving food quite late (used to be until midnight at least... not sure if that's still true?) which is sadly uncommon in the city. If you're visting San Francisco on a trip this place is a must go. Also, it's a "must book early" like most good things in the city - I would recommend doing so at least two weeks in advance for any hope of eating at a decent hour!

Be the first to ReplyVegans: do not NOT get the broccoli.
Idk what they do to the broccoli at NOPA but I'd do horrible things to find out and to eat it everday. Best broccoli in the Bay Area 100% !!! Their butter beans can also be made vegan and are so decadent and delicious. Besides that, honestly just ask them what is currently vegan and say yes to as many things as you can and you literally can't go wrong. The staff is extremely accommodating and professional and the ambiance is timeless. Love that I can get dressed up and be fancy on a date OR roll in right after yoga if I'm lucky enough to grab a spot at the bar. TYSM NOPA team!!!
Be the first to ReplyI had a great time at Nopa.
We literally came here to try the pork chop and burger. Taste really good but you may want to ask for some mustard because it was a bit meaty towards to the end. Also liked to try mocktails. One of desserts was too salty but others was goodNice place to hang out with friends!

We indulged in the delectable flatbread appetizer, which was truly delightful. As for my main course, I opted for the cheeseburger, and was immediately impressed by the generously sized beef patty. In fact, I could only manage to consume half of it, as it left me feeling satiated. To my satisfaction, the cheeseburger was cooked impeccably, making for a truly satisfying meal.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to eat.
It's a very busy restaurant I would recommend you have a reservation. Food was good, price expensive but overall what isn't nowadays.
Be the first to ReplyAnother addition to my list of overrated overhyped SF
Another addition to my list of overrated overhyped SF eateries. I stayed awake past midnight to make a reservation at this place the day they opened up. There was no option to choose an indoor vs outdoor table, however once we got to the restaurant, they told us (rather rudely) the table was for outdoor seating. It was a particularly cold day in the city, and the meager heat lamp above the table did nothing to warm us. There should really be an outdoor seating discount since there are no ambiance or electricity costs incurred out there. All of the food we ordered needed salt. I can't think of anything that I would recommend, I can tell they were going for straightforward dishes with unique flavor combinations, but the flavors just didn't work and the ingredients were just not carefully handled. I would not recommend or come back.
Be the first to ReplyLived next to nopa so came here a lot.
Moved after the pandemic and come a few times now. Was served by Ashweni who was wonderful. Had the best recommendations, was patient, had good timing for checking on us and made dinner that much fun.Still great drinks, good food but tonight Ashweni made us love it more.

Be the first to ReplyI am leaving a review for the dessert and interior alone
I am leaving a review for the dessert and interior alone since me and my partner came here for a dessert date. Selfishly, I ordered the persimmon cake which, from reading on the menu, looked like nothing my partner would eat, but alas I persisted and ordered it anyway. I got myself a tea as well and while we waited we watched the kitchen work its magic. I've always enjoyed seeing the organized chaos of an environment but never knew a chefs table seat was something real. I know its not for everybody but if you care at all about a professional kitchen, get yourself a seat and enjoy! The relationship between all the cooks and the main chef, as well as watching everyones individual stations was such a sight for me. Honest to god would come back here just to watch these talented people make food.As for the cake, as predicted not loved by my partner, but I absolutely enjoyed it. The pomegranate with the delicate cake and vanilla ice cream all brought together for such a wonderful dining experience. One of the best desserts I've had in a while. The interior is truly lovely and I wish I remembered our waitresses name but she was such a joy. We got to speak briefly to the chef and I completely embarrassed myself as I was still totally entranced with the entire place. I'd love to come again someday.
Be the first to ReplyI like the decor and the high ceilings here.
The service is attentive and friendly.I had high hopes for this place and the food did not meet my expectations. I am giving 3 stars for the food, because they were not consistently goodIt was overpriced and underwhelming. We had the crab salad, smoked trout, pappardelle, root vegetables, broccolini, mushroom toast, warm goat cheese crostini. It's worth a try, but I definitely would not come back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat american food and good service.
Burger was good and the patty was massive. The smoked trout is a must, a delicious flavor combination. The server recommended the carrot ice cream for dessert and it is surprisingly really good- tastes like carrot cake but not heavy at all.

We have eaten at Nopa a handful of times and have always found it to be fun and very good. The last time we eat inside at communal table and we got to meet and interact with others we did not know and got to share impressions of the food, atmosphere and chat about San Francisco. It was good and fun! The food is a consistently good, drinks also very well done and presented and ambiance feels full of energy and comes across like people are indeed having fun and enjoying themselves.

Smoked trout appetizer was the perfect blend of salty, fatty, sweet, and light. It also features eggs cooked my favorite way. Perfectly jammy insides. 10/10The vegetarian stew was also sublime. I didn't really care for the whole almonds on top, but I absolutely loved the olives and fresh mint in the stew. 8.5/10

single.thing about this place. The restaurant itself has a fun, hip vibe, and the food is always BEYOND fresh and delicious. This time we started with the smoked trout dish that I will dream about. The roasted vegetable stew was phenomenal. THANK YOU for being so accommodating with gluten & dairy intolerances and for having so much variety for non-meat eaters on the menu. Service was phenomenal. Might be my favorite restaurant in SF!!!
