We’ve been here a number of times for drinks, but never dinner. We booked a reservation early (5:45 pm) as we were meeting friends later for drinks. We were seated at 5:54 pm - I made a note of it, because they say they won’t hold a table longer than 15 minutes past reservation time. Within minutes of being seated, our rude and clearly miserable server told us that they had a strict 2 hour table time. Um, okay, but can we maybe say “hi” first and order drinks? And, fine. We don’t park at dining tables in busy restaurants - that’s just rude and unsophisticated. Okay, not off to a great start. After getting our drinks and placing our food order, the hostess came up to our table and told us the table had a strict 2 hour seating time. Okay. We got it. Not once did anyone ask us if our drinks were good (they were!), if our food was good (it was just fine), or if we needed anything, but at 7:05pm, another person came up to our table and told us we were fast approaching the 2 hour mark, and would we be leaving soon? My husband told her politely we had been seated at 5: 54pm (this was 7:05 pm), and she slunk off without an apology or reason. It was at this point I noticed another table getting the same treatment - a BIPOC couple, while we were the only table over 40. Other tables, filled with young, blonde, white 20 somethings, who were seated at their tables when we arrived, were allowed to sit and enjoy their drinks (only drinks, not food!) without being harassed, hassled or harangued. We were and are still pretty shocked and disgusted by the entire experience. Despite this, we left a 30% tip because service workers are overworked and stressed, and because we didn’t want to sink to their level. (Also, not a mask to be seen....) So, Stay Classy, NoLita Hall. We won’t be back.
