Take us away for Take Away at Nobu
This is a bit different from my usual review. I was staying at the Grand Promenade Hotel and ordered my meal as a take away. It is surprising to learn when you research, how many eating establishments are still doing this since Covid. Like many West Australians, I know Crown fairly well and also knew that trying to book a table is generally not easy due to their popularity. Having eaten there several times but not recently, was thrilled to learn that take away being for a hotel guest was an option. Anyone who has travelled and settled in a hotel room enjoys it very much when such good food is provided at the same place, relieving some stress (not to mention tummy rumbles). If you have read other reviews here, I won't go into much detail re the decor but the chandalier is worth mentioning. Created by architect Micheal Fiebrich Design, the concept was of an abstract of a Japanese water garden. This is why you have the large custom made metal sculptures of reeds/water plants separating sections of the seating areas. The chandalier itself is made of bubble shaped pendants of blown glass balls. I have always admired this as the colours of copper, amber and gold remind me of flowing and flowering water. There is some bronze inlay detail that suggests a rippling effect. It is a decandent but very relaxing effect, very much how a japanese water garden feels to me. Back to the food. I was told that take away for guests could only be by the guest and to be picked up at the restaurant by said guest. So I had to leave the hotel room, first world problems. Although prior experience as to dining there, I never have had their signature dish, Black Cod Miso. Pleased to see it on the take away menu, being a hot dish, I also selected a cold dish, Salmon Belly Yuzu Karashi Su Miso to balance out my meal. (Coming from an inland town, fresh fish is really something I look forward to in the city). I came to the restaurant and had to wait for 10 minutes or so but was given a large brown paper bag and retired to my room in anticipation. 2 separate medium sized cardboard containers but no cutlery, as in, none. Being in such a room, I searched but there was no cutlery either, so in frustration and hunger, did the only thing I could do, I ate it without. I know, I know, I am ashamed of myself. Don't judge me (much). I was prepared to accept that the presentation was not one I would have if I had dined in house, but opening the boxes to see and smell was lovely. I ate the hot dish first. I have been told that it is alaskan fatty cod and the flavours are sweet (from the mirin and sugar), salt, (miso) and spice (ginger). I also tasted soy (from the miso) and the dark meaty flavours were an excellent combination for this protein. Excellent, as expected. I will have to try cooking it myself in the near future. The Salmon was also excellent, both similar (being fish) but different because it was flavoured with chili and citrus. Served with deep fried onions which deliverd a welcome crunch with the fish being silky soft. I believe the food coma kicked in then so can't say much after that. Just go to Nobu and enjoy their food, they are certainly worth it! (Note: After being sated, did inform the restaurant as to the lack of cutlery, they said that if required, I was to ask).

Excellent Food and service. Staff very friendly and helpful especially if you have any food allergies. Have been back lunch in Dec and going with friends again next week.

Our friends had just returned from Japan. The food at Nobu is absolutely beautiful. Such an interesting and varied menu. Yummm…
Be the first to ReplyMemorable anniversary lunch with exceptional service
We had lunch at Nobu to celebrate our anniversary and from our own personal experience, this was a top notch experience with both the quality of the service and cuisine leaving us an amazingly and pleasant memory. While we were seated next on the booth with other diners just next to us, we didn’t feel our privacy was compromised. We were welcomed by Diego and Minori warmly, and our request to top up my wife’s green tea with hot water was always promptly attended to by another male waiter. A special call out to Sushi Chef Eujyn, whose recommendation for sashimi was the highlight of our dining experience. The toro with cavier was my favourite while my wife loved the combo sashimi with radish. We spent just under 2 hour there from noon, and booked online a month in advanced. We truly look forward to trying their omakase and dinner next time. Tip: Crown Perth has plenty of free and paid parking. The good tip while dining there is to get your parking ticket validated at the restaurant so you will get complimentary parking
Be the first to ReplyExquisite food . Perfect.
Superb food, surroundings and service. Anything with Miso is surreal. The eggplant fried with miso is worth a fight with your mates over the last piece. Try the Toro sashimi, another world. Every dish is just incredible.

A perfect lunch experience, with a $65 bento box experience with a glass of bubbly. Perfect morsels of food, exquisite flavours and beautifully presented. Service is top notch, attentive, professional and friendly. Must book, Wed lunch was full. Well recommended.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional flavours
A birthday celebration was the reason to gather and it was great. We ordered a range of dishes some to share but mostly for individual consumption and the team served it brilliantly. The flavours were exceptional especially the salmon sashimi with caviar. We were also delighted with the candle for the dessert.
Be the first to ReplyExtraordinary food Sublime taste in your mouth
Nobu is in a class above The food here is always incredibly delicious Yes it’s expensive but you will not be disappointed with the taste and quality of the dishes Our extreme favourite is the rib eye with truffle butter crumb and a side of mushrooms. Honestly it’s hard to imagine that anything could taste better. The oysters with various sauces are incredibly fresh and taste just like they have come straight from the ocean to your mouth Nobu is a restaurant we will always want to squeeze into the budget !

I have been to Nobu 7 times previously and the group of 9 ladies I was with on Saturday have been to Nobu the past 2 years in a row for our Christmas function and LOVED it each time. This time however we found that the only bento box option on the menu was Premium, there used to be a cheaper less seafood option as well as a vegetarian option. The 2 ladies that do not like seafood were not allowed to switch out any of the bento box dishes in the premium box, whereas as they have been allowed in the past. I am vegetarian and asked if they still have a bento box available and what's in it. I was told it was not on the menu, they couldn't tell me how much it was or show me a list, but could tell me what it contained. The past 6 times I visited Nobu I was allowed to switch the vegetarian sushi for the cauliflower/jalapeno dish in my bento box, this year they said no. I asked if the chef can make something else, like a rice dish or sushi without the seaweed as I dislike the flavour. I told the waiter I do not eat tomato, seafood or meat, anything else as a substitute dish for the sushi would be fine. He said he'd talk to the chef and get back to me. He did not get back to me. When I got my bento box it contained a very small bowl of chopped cherry tomatoes in a dressing instead of sushi. A)I had told the waiter I do not eat tomato, B) I do not think that a tomato salad is a financial or fast or chef's effort equivalent to sushi - especially in a "world renowned" Japanese restaurant such as Nobu. I called a wait over and was told I had to wait for my waiter to come, I waited and he didn't come, so I eventually called another waiter and they took the tomato away and replaced it with a tiny bowl of chopped cucumber! Again not a great tasty substitute for sushi in a "world renowned" Japanese restaurant. Even some teriyaki veggies would have been better. Chopped cucumber!!!!!!! No-one apologised at any point in the day. Also we had to ask twice for more water as our glasses were empty. Also my friend ordered tempura veggies entree and a beef dish as a main. We were all served our miso soup as entree whilst she got her tempura veggies, then we all got bento boxes and her main dish did not come. She asked 2 waiters to check on her dish. Eventually the waiters came and cleared all our bento boxes and started to tidy the table for dessert and my friend still did not have her meal. It eventually came and she felt stressed and like she had to rush as we were all waiting for her. We all left Nobu feeling sad that the excellent service we had experienced in the past was indeed a thing of the past, the inflexibility of the staff/chefs to offer a switch out on the bento boxes to suit customer tastes was a disappointment, empty water glasses, my friend waiting an extremely long Tims for her meal (the waiter offered her a free dessert) and my cucumber substitute all left a bad taste in our mouths. We were all very disappointed and will definitely not be back next year for our Christmas function. For a "world renowned" restaurant - I think Nobu has a long way to go. 11/20 rating.

The venue is lovely and service good. But the food is very over rated and expensive. The serving sizes are so small it was like eating an entree.
Be the first to ReplyChef Choice Omakase
Had dinner there on 26 Sep 22. Ordered the Chef Choice Omakase. Lovely 8;course dinner. Managed to get a book signed by NObu also. Will definitely visit again, going to try NObu Melbourne on Christmas Eve.
Be the first to ReplyAverage food at high prices in noisy surrounds
Having visited another Nobu, we were looking forward to repeating the experience. Alas, this was not to be. To us, it appeared to be a big food factory where the aim was to get the customers in and out as quickly as possible. Some of the dishes were excellent, while others were very average, but none were cheap. Once bitten, twice shy.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Lunch
Called in with a friend to celebrate his birthday. The dining area is very nice and the table settings are not crowded together. The service was very good and staff were most attentive. We all had the Bento Box special and the winter box included a miso soup and a glass of sparkling wine. We changed the sparkling wine for juices then our friend ordered the wine. This was a nice Cloudy bay Sauvignon blanc just right for the meal even though it was grossly over priced at $80.00 a bottle. However, it was a special birthday so we just enjoyed it. I understand that you have to pay a little extra when buying in house but over 100% is a little rich. Nice atmosphere, great service and if you park in the multistorey carpark they validate your ticket so no payment at the exit is required.

I dined at Nobu with my partner on a quiet mid week night and it was just fabulous. Endless selections of exquisite sashimi and sushi, great wine list, amazing decor, professional service. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyOmakase Menu - chefs cuisine
wasnt a single bite of food that didnt look and taste amazing - have eaten this way twice and would do so again.
Be the first to ReplyNobu Negated
Sake bottle came complete with a bug swimming in it when poured - that is just gross! Rib Eye steak was returned because it was RARE - not medium rare as requested. Sense of time is lost with dishes are crowding a small table. The Nobu that WAS is lost and we have negated version. Percussion western music that does not fit Japanese ambiance - you should dispense with the Japanese greeting if that stressful heart pumping background drums and percussions continue.
Be the first to ReplyIf you want an intimate experience avoid Friday nights
I have eaten at Nobu several times and out of all the Crown restaurants, it's definitely our favourite, which is why we chose it for our anniversary. Went in for the first time on a Friday night and it had a pub atmosphere, rowdy and loud rather than the quieter more refined experiences we've had previously. We were also seated near the entrance which can get very busy and noisy.
We ordered the premium menu and we felt overall it was delicious but overpriced given also we had a young waitress who was clearly on one of her first shifts. No shade to her or her manager as they were trying their best but the lack of confidence her clumsiness and lack of knowledge made us wish we'd just ordered a la carte.
I would still go back but not on a Friday or Saturday night.
Not many Nobu do teppanyaki!
Booked a teppanyaki at this Nobu restaurant. Not many Nobu has teppanyaki! Had an experienced chef cooking for us. No theatre because of covid but the quality of food was fresh and cooked to one’s liking. From their langoustine to Wagyu beef was good tasting. Environment was cozy and service very attentive. Price was on the higher plain! The starter is Nobu signature dish of hamachi with jalapeño which was great!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food and service, well worth it
What an experience. We are first time diners and we were overwhelmed with the menu. So much to choose from and had no idea what to order. The waitress we had was fantastic, asking us questions about what we like to eat. She gave us choices and explained what was in it and how it’s made. The food that she suggested were melt in your mouth and a delight to eat. So we will definitely be back. It was a great night

Walked in to Nobu after bad Rockpool experience.
Our waitress was so helpful and knowledgeable which totally contributed to this amazing dining experience.
Smoked octopus - yummo!
Scallops with jalapeño dressing - omg sooo good
Toothfish - awesome!
Waygu and lobster tacos - yum!
Loved it all!
A different class
Lovely anniversary lunch for my wife and I. Welcoming, attentive and friendly service and the food options plentiful to satisfy a range of tastes.
We had an awesomely fresh and flavoursome sashimi starter followed up by a bento box and teriyaki beef.
We will be back - sooner if it wasn’t so booked out but hey, there’s a reason for that!
Taste sensation
We have just experienced the most amazing food at Nobu, Perth. Our waiter, Jo, guided us through the menu and every dish was a unique taste sensation. The black cod miso was to die for. The service was exceptional. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyExtremely disappointing
Waited weeks to get a booking. Best we could get was 8:45pm Sunday evening for 6 people for a birthday celebration, It took about 20 mins to select wine and food. One bottle of wine we selected was $160 and the sommelier recommended it breath for 40mins. We ordered our food just after 9pm and only to get told the kitchen closes at 10pm! From around 9:20 to 9:45 plate after plate is rushed to our table like a cheap Chinese restaurant. We feel rushed whilst the cleaning up of the kitchen and general noisiness around us gets louder. Couldn’t hear each other speak. Most of the dishes were cooked well but had to send a fish dish back. No time to enjoy the wine!!! Totally unpleasant ambiance and experience. No mention of kitchen closing at 10pm when booking made. It was a very expensive 1 hour meal. I have been to Nobu previously many times and it was great, even with nice Japanese greeting when you arrive. This no longer occurs. It’s now like a noisy barn rushing people through. After this experience we will not be returning. Disgraceful, money grabbing!
Be the first to ReplyBeware, food comes separately, very odd
Arrived 15mins early so asked if we could have a drink at the bar first but we’re told no and that we would have to go straight to the table. We were aware that we only had the table for a set period of time but we felt hurried and constantly asked if we were ready to order.
The starters were delicious especially the salt and pepper squid and there was a decent wine menu. When it came to order the main course I asked about the recommended cod and what it came with ie. should I order a side dish. I was told that I would need to order something as well so I did. I ordered the cod my husband the rib eye and then we got some vegetables to share. At no point were we told that everything would arrive separately.
My fish came so I waited for the other dishes to arrive before starting……….. after about ten minutes the waiter came back and noticing that I wasn’t eating explained that I had to eat my fish before the next p,ate would be served, he apologised for not telling us that before. So…. We shared my fish, then the plate of veg came which we had to eat on its own folded by the steak. Everything was very tasty but I found this very odd as I wanted to enjoy my food along with the veg.
Next we discovered that a drink I ordered was no longer available as I’d been given an out of date menu. We didn’t stay for dessert as we were a bit deflated at the poor experience
Great lunch special
Had been a few years since we had last visited so was interested to see if it had maintained the same high standard. Yes, still excellent - the bento box lunch special for $55 was great value and beautifully presented with lots of tasty morsels. More filling than I had expected for a bento box. The restaurant was full, which is a good sign for a mid week lunch and the atmosphere was lively and of course the restaurant itself is lovely. The service was also excellent. All in all a great lunch experience
