Unforgettable Morton Steakhouse
Impeccable experience! My wife and I were here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the personalised menu, to the nice photo, and the dessert, wow! What more can we asked for. Service by Jini and Paew was so professional!! Kudos. Keep up the good work!! Will be back! Regards Bruno
Disappointing
The short guy who was manning the bar, should not be in this kind of upscale establishment. He only focuses on flirting with the ladies. He ignored us a few times when we needed his attention. Speaking loudly with a made-up accent and giving the ladies freebies was his main focus. Not the paying customers
Birthday Treat
We had our dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse at Mandarin Oriental for my husband’s birthday. Food was great, we loved the table decorations and the personalized menu for my husband’s birthday. Special thanks to Harbbie for guiding us on the menu and taking nice pictures throughout the celebration can’t wait to come back for the next celebration.
Check your bill
A manager who helped to settle the bill in Mortons Steakhouse restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Singapore scammed my Director from the US to tip them a whopping 700+ Singapore dollars. Despite the 10% service charge and 9% government tax which is already included the the bill. I noticed when she submitted the receipt for a claim. When I checked with my colleague who attended the dinner, she said the service was not that good. No one was there to take either the wine or food order. The manager who claims to know about wine didn't know anything about it. They had to ask the sommelier for a recommendation. Food was dumped in the middle of the table without any introduction and too far for many of them to reach. Wine and water are not topped up. They had to ask for it. I do tip if the service is good and attentive but not 700++! Will you? I can't do much as my Director already paid for it. Please let your manager know, that it is not right to force or scam the customer to tip additional hundreds of dollars. This is immoral and against anyone's integrity.
Our 33rd Anniversary Celebration
Morton's for me & my family has & will always be a home-run experience simply cos the total package is not only satisfying but always exceedds our expectations. Not only did our orders take centre-stage cos it was cooked & plated to perfection, but as important is the quality of the the Morton's team led by Paew Ford, the newly appointed GM who made it a point to not only come to our table to check-in on us, but also took the trouble to get to know each of us by name. This was a family celebration and it was for my wife to celebrate our 33 years together as husband and wife, and we're made to feel like a million bucks ..... from the personalised dinner menu, to the pictures Morton's took to capture this moment, and the manner in which our orders were taken and served. We were very pleased with the service, and would like to reserve special mention to our waiter Ricky who tended to us. The meal itself was incredible all round. We ordered the Lobster Bisque and French Onion Soup Gratinee, followed by the Prime Bone-in Ribeye ( 22oz ) and Prime Cajun Ribeye with sides that included the Loaded Baked Idaho Potato, Creamed Spinach and Lobster Macaroni Shells & Cheese. Our meal was topped off by the Lemon Souffle and the Hot Chocolate Cake ( lava cake ). Other than obviously the steaks that standout as exceptionally good, but you know you're in Morton's cos you're served with an Idaho baked potato ( fully loaded ) ...... to my knowledge no one else in Singapore serves this. This is the mother of all baked potato's. What else that sets Morton's apart from the rest is their Lemon Souffle ( super light & simply amazing ) ...... and the star of the show which brings us back to Morton's repeatedly is their lava cake ( Hot Chocolate Cake ) that simply oozed molten chocolate when you slice your spoon in for the kill. Divine. Morton's has no equal in terms of the total package especially if it's a special occassion or if it's for business meeting. Tonite we chose to celebrate the moment in the open area, but Morton's do cater to private dining rooms. I'd recommend Morton's to my family & all my friends unreservedly. I am confident Paew & her team would take good care of you and how your steaks are served up.
Only take care of their regular!
Go to this restaurant if want to be served by an arrogant Filipino. Only take care of their regular guest Totally disappointed with the service. The food was okay. Will.I go again or recommend it to others no Absolutely no!
Over priced average food
Lovely venue but extremely overpriced for average food. Not a Rose wine on the extensive wine menu and red wines which wouldn’t be served in the countries they are from Great onion soup, as good as it gets. Steak was ok but could have been better seasoned. Jacket potato at 27 Singapore dollars was burnt Service not great, waitress never listened to what we said. Didn’t bother with a dessert- Total bill €600 Wouldn’t go again
Great food and mediocre to poor service.
The waiter needed a lot more training on the menu and the concept of service.
Personal touch made it a great birthday experience
Booked a table to celebrate my son’s birthday. Morton’s requested for his name as they wanted to personalise his menu. On the day of our reservation, we were asked who the birthday boy was when we got to the restaurant. My son was called by name and ushered to our table. The menus on our table were also personalised with my son’s name. Food was great and my son even had a complimentary personalised birthday dessert. The staff took our photo and presented it to us on a holder that was signed by all the staff, which was a nice personal touch. When I requested for a soft copy of the photo, they said they would email it to me. Didn’t have high hopes that I would get the soft copy but they did send it the next day. We really enjoyed our dinner at Morton’s. Service was excellent and they made my son feel like a million bucks!
Worst birthday celebration
Incorrigible service. Be prepared for a long story ahead. Booked this place for my dad’s birthday. We arrived around 7.30-7.45pm or so and upon reaching the restaurant, the staff could not find our reservation at all. Instead of telling us the truth about whether the reservation went through, they claimed that we were late and can only hold the table for 10 mins. FYI, the policy on our booking said 15 mins. Morton’s also claimed they had called us to inform us of the table being released. I showed them my call logs, no call was received. So then they said they would try to arrange something since they were full house. After waiting around, we were given at table around 8pm+ on the condition we can return the table at 9.30pm. Having no choice, we agreed and said we would then go elsewhere to celebrate with the birthday cake. Upon being seated, we were given the menu. We had to wave the staff over multiple times to take our order. I don’t understand why they need 2 waitstaff to usher 1 table of patrons in. Never mind that. Our order of iced/ warm waters were served wrongly. After serving us the onion bread appetiser with butter, I requested for a butter knife to apply the butter but was told to use the steak knife first. Excuse me??? What is this dining etiquette? Appetisers arrived. Our salad and crab cake were satisfactory. I thought things were taking a turn for the better. Unfortunately, no. We waited around half an hour or more for our main entrees and i signalled to the staff to inform him that it was 9.15pm, mains were not even served yet. How do we return the table at 9.30pm???? The wait staff came around to give us the dessert menu and ask if we’d like desserts. WE HAD NOT EVEN EATEN OUR MAINS. At this point, the table which was seated to our right side also didn’t have their mains yet and were getting visibly agitated. We saw one member from their table who got up to make a complaint. Finally mains were served at 9.35pm. There was a small hiccup when someone in my party of 6 had requested for salt. As the restaurant was dimly lit and the salt was stuck in the shaker, she accidentally spilt quite a lot of salt on her steak. Upon informing the same staff about it, he told us we had used the salt shaker the wrong way. Not really sure what we were meant to do with that piece of information honestly. The salt had already been spilt. After the steak was sent back to the kitchen to remove the excess salt and sent back, it was 9.50pm. Food was mediocre to say the least and service was abhorrent. We were here to celebrate a birthday and I had even indicated that on my reservation. Despite even letting the staff know we were here to celebrate a birthday, no action was taken and at 10pm (despite mains having been served at 9.35pm), the staff came to request for us to return them the table. The person in my party who just had her steak returned to her had NOT EVEN FINISHED HER MEAL. We explained that we needed a few more minutes as the kitchen had taken so long to prepare our food. Nevertheless, this fell on deaf ears and the staff insisted they needed the table back. Extremely embarrassing to be chased out by the restaurant when it wasn’t even our fault that the reservation wasn’t taken in in the first place. N the fact that the kitchen took bloody long ( 30- 45 minutes) to serve 6 steaks!!! This does not befit a steakhouse in a 6 star hotel. We came back here as we previously had a good experience many years ago (>10 years ago) and I’m ashamed to even say I held my wedding in this hotel. When we were leaving, the same staff asked for my contact number saying he’d like to contact me to follow up on this disappointing birthday celebration. I asked why he needed my number since the restaurant had claimed to call me, wouldn’t they have my number already? Also if they didn’t, the reservation clearly had my number on it. I asked again for the third time whether my reservation had actually gone through but did not get a clear answer on that. Why couldn’t Morton’s actually admit that they had not received my reservation? Instead they tried to place the blame on us and rushed us to return the table to them despite the kitchen taking an awfully long time to serve the food. N in the end, we brought along the birthday cake but had nowhere to celebrate. We had to resort to go home to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Thanks Morton’s. It’s one we will definitely remember and not for the right reasons. What an absolute disaster.
Dinner was awesome
We had a great dinner. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Harbbie was attentive but not intrusive. It was a lovely night.
Generally excellent as usual
Order Rib Eye and Prime Steak with both medium rare but the texture of the material is somewhat either overcook on the surface or the beef quality is not premium. The rest is fine with chick, salad and onion soup. Service is good and ambient is wonderfully.
Late but Great
We were staying at the Mandarin Oriental and were late back from the night safari. Room said open until 10.30 but was 10pm for service. The chef was just retiring but they gave us a good table. I ordered the 16oz ribeye. Gill the fillet. Fries and mushrooms and good old English mustard. Both steaks were excellent. Mine juicy and pink with the fat expertly cooked. I did not think I would finish it but so tasty all the way I did. I could have even used the lovely bread to soak up the juice. Gills fillet was just as good. Chips were the losers as the steaks were so delicious. I would recommend sharing the sides so not to waste the food and just enjoy the steak. Even being late to the restaurant service was excellent with most of the staff happy we were there. Good wine choice to complement the steaks. We had a bottle of white but I should have tried a glass of red.
Old school steakhouse experience, great food, expensive
This is a very old school experience, and that's not a bad thing - we were seated in a semi circular table and they pulled out the table to let us sit down, then pushed it back in, all very cosy. The wine list (according to my far more sophisticated dinner partner) is limited but the steak is great and the starters like oysters are very nice, including oysters rockefeller which I had never tried before. Overall a great night out, but very expensive.
Thank you Nemo
I went here just for a few drinks with my friends. I was entertained by Nemo and her cocktails were divine. You don't need to be here for the proper meal, even though you're here for the drinks are still ok.
Will return for the exceptional service
The steaks (i had wagyu) were done to my liking and I tend to be fussy about steaks. The porterhouse was huge but I found it a little tough (but we had ordered it well done). They also serve very good dessert and their service is exceptional.
Extremely disappointing for a re-opening in splendidly renovated Mandarin Oriental.
Service - awful. I properly booked Morton’s for a quiet Sunday dinner with a friend from overseas so we could have a nice catch up. I was interrupted 3 times by the waiter who seemed to be in a rush to get us through dinner, even though we were 25 minutes Esther than my reservation at 7pm. First time, I happened to be getting over a choke over a piece of bread. Instead of asking if I was alright (which both I and my dinner companion thought was why he came by), he asked of we were ready to order? Clearly not, and we asked him to come back. We ordered through another waiter. Then during our dinner, while we were deep in conversation, we got interrupted again by him. I told him I prefer to be served by someone else who isn’t in a rush. I fed back to the manager when he came by and complained about the waiters service, the interruptions. Then (unbelievably), when my wine glass was finishing, he interrupted us again to ask if I would like an another glass. He literally cut us off our conversation for that?! Then I said not now, thinking he’d let it go, to which he relentlessly asked: could he remove my glass then??!! Food - mediocre, limp meat. We preferred the Porterhouse, but neither side of this was pleasing. Soggy and no crisp. The Morton’s salad was like Lawrey’s without the spin. Potatoes Au Gratin and saturated mushrooms were good. Soufflé and a better- trained waitress saved the evening.
Bad sommelier lost a loyal customer
The "sommelier* or whatever he was, elder western gentleman, was extremely dispassionate and clearly did not care about the quality of the wine he served. We ordered a $400 bottle of wine and the label was off, (we commented on it but he shrugged it off, literally shrugged) the wine was flat, but he didn't notice. We still took it because it wasn't spoiled, but it almost was. The "sommelier" gentleman never bothered to even check the cork or smell it before serving it to us. Horrible. I used to go to Morton's 3-4 times a year and each time spend +700$ on wine, but I think you just lost a customer for life. Fire this "sommelier" if he was that, or maybe he was just a random person, we wouldn't know as he never bothered to even say hi or introduce himself.
Beautiful experience for my family.
Elegant ambiance! Felt like royalties Service was great! Our server made us feel very special! I love their truffle fries! The steaks were delicious too! It is very expensive but is worth it! The experience and all!
Perfect dinner
Unfortunately the restaurant is closed now for months, as the Mandarin Oriental Hotel is going to be renovated until September. But we had the chance for a dinner and it was truly perfect. Perfect, attentive service, the most amazing steaks ever and an elegant but relaxed atmosphere. Yes, it comes with a price, but it is worth the money.
Excellent ambience, food and service.
I celebrated my advance birthday last night. Staff Harbbie welcome us and greeted me plus the rest of the staff, I felt overwhelmed with that gesture. Our table and menu list have printed my name with greetings, it was exceptional. Ambience was great. Our server that night was Harbbie he was really kind, helpful and assisted our needs well. He also entertained us. Food was so delish especially steak. New York cheese was fantastic. Thankful for spending my special day here. Overall, it was perfect for us. Will definitely comeback and recommend it to my friends.
Steaks and more
The menu is the same around the world. First the onion bread. We usually order the tuna tower and crab cake starters. Then the christopher chicken and either a steak or fish Only the lobster bisque in the taipei branch is good Usually no room for desserts as the portions are quite large Service pretty good but depending which branch you go
Been here twice on my stops.
Place on par with other Morton's and great for that western dining experience. Staff is great and quality of food is what you expect from a Morton's. Overall pleased with this place and I'll continue to stop here
Great Steaks, Great Wine
Our go to for steaks in Singapore. We love the rib-eye, scallops starters, mushroom and spinach side, the bread and cheesecake. The wine selection is great but of course, at restaurant prices. We discovered an amazing bottle of Pinot Noir, Eternally Silenced here. We usually receive good service here but post covid, the whole world is short staffed including Morton’s. Nevertheless, very happy with our meal and the service this particular day in Dec 2022.
Fantastic service
Shanks @Mortons made our experience exceptional. His service was attentive, but not intrusive and he anticipated our needs, Excellent service from Shanks - he is a credit to the Morton's brand. The whole team were amazing and the food was delicious, 100% would come again.
Great food, excellent service
Went there for a birthday celebration. Apart from the usual personalised menu, a hard copy of a photo and complimentary dessert, I'm pretty pleased by the attention given and the warm welcome we received. They team are always on a look out and serve the food at the correct timing. Nonethless, food was good though we overestimated ourselves and order a tad too much. Overall a really good experience.
Food is good but…
The table of 4 just beside us are drinking and talking loudly. And it’s throughout my whole session. Doesn’t made my day especially my special day with my partner
