Great atmosphere, our waiter provided us with wonderful servicing great recommendation on the dishes since this was a first time attending this establishment. Meatball was absolutely fantastic. Roasted tomato was marvelous
Be the first to ReplyA mainstay for comfortable elegance and meticulous cooking.
Classic dishes and new invention. The staff is outstanding, and the new location is light and airy.

Visited for a business lunch - every dish we ordered was delicious from the dips and pita to the baked mousaka and lamb sliders. Service impeccable and the vibe was fancy / authentic Greek. Surprised by lack of a crowd - highly recommended - loved it.

Just returned from a trip to Greece, and thought it would be fun to try a Greek restaurant in NYC just four days after returning. It's definitely a nice place, with an open design, and the service was decent the entire time. I looked at the menu outside, and acknowledged I was not in Greece anymore from a price standpoint, but honestly wanted to compare food quality ignoring price. We got the spanakopita, meatballs, moussaka, and the cabbage rolls. The food came out quick, but unfortunately the portion size of the appetizers was so small, and frankly neither of the two were very good. Meatballs tasted extremely average, as with the spanakopita. The spanakopita was not flaky at all, and frankly was probably frozen from a package. For mains, the moussaka was reasonably generous, but was so cheese heavy, as opposed to focus on a lighter béchamel sauce, and very little eggplant in the dish. The cabbage rolls were not bad, but portion was quite small, and it felt like something i could make at home for $5. Lack of execution, along with criminally small portions and high prices left me quite unsatisfied. Sadly, I guess you have to go to venture to Astoria for real Greek food...
Be the first to ReplyThe stuffed peppers hardly had any taste.
The lamb in the lamb sliders were dry. The service and ambience were very good.
Be the first to ReplyMolyvos is a convenient option for Greek food in the center
Molyvos is a convenient option for Greek food in the center of Manhattan. It doesn't get as much attention that it should because the quality of the meals were superb, and the longer than usual wait time for receiving the bill was authentically Greek. Molyvos did not skimp out on the octo appetizer and the branzino had few bones, making it less of a hassle to eat! The salad was fresh and the moussaka came out warm. I was surprised with a birthday dessert, and there were other birthday celebrations occurring -- it's a cozy spot for celebrations or dates. Good wine selection and brunch menu if that's your thing.

I came here to dine in on Saturday and had a great experience. The restaurant made me feel as if I was transported to Greece - the inside is very beautiful. The food is amazing as well - I had the sampler, cheese, and meatballs and was full. They were all delicious but I will say that the tomato feta spread was my favorite. I also enjoyed the show that was put on by our waiter with the cheese. The sundae was also a great way to finish our meal. I would definitely recommend this spot!

When Molyvos moved I was hoping the food quality would stay the same - it absolutely surpassed the former location. The food itself was delicious, the space was warm and inviting, and the service as fantastic. Shoutout to our server who asked if we were seeing a show and got our order out in plenty of time to savor it and make it to our show on time (despite being late for our reservation). We'll definitely be back for date night again - we had a fantastic dinner date here last night.

I've had my eyes on this place for some time and finally got a chance to dine here! I'm so glad I did and can't wait to return. Such a lovely, clean, and airy atmosphere with even better treatment from the staff. The service is excellent and you really get the sense they care whether you have a nice experience or not. Bravo! I love the prefix lunch options! I could eat the arugula feta dill salad every single day. Wonderful selection of great Greek wines. The chicken Souvlaki hit the spot, as did the warm pita they bring before your meal. Making my reservations now to try out the dinner menu!! Can't wait.

We chose Molyvos Restaurant for a late lunch and got seated right away with no reservation. The interior was pretty spacious, with a massive wine display, and fun plates as wall decor. Their wines by the glass were all Greek, and the Cabernet Sauvignon I chose was fantastic. My friend got the Pink Sand cocktail, which she really liked. For food, we started with the 3 Spreads Sampler. You get to choose which spreads to include, and we went with the Melitzanosalata, Tzatziki, and Tirokafteri. All three were delicious, but the Tirokafteri was probably my favorite - spicy feta roasted pepper dip with so much flavor. The sampler also came with plenty of pita bread and we even had some left over. I ordered the Grilled Octopus for myself and also the Mitilini Meatballs to share with my friend. The Grilled Octopus was so delicious - great texture and flavor. However, the Mitilini Meatballs were a little bit underwhelming. Both of these were appetizers, and portion sizes were very small for the price. Our other friend got the Stuffed Red Bell Peppers and Roasted Marinated Baby Beets, which she said were tasty - especially the beets. Service was friendly and attentive and overall this was a good (though pricy) choice for lunch!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience from the ambience, service to the food.
If you like Greek food then you must eat here. Moussaka and baklava were especially delicious

10 Stars if I could! The restaurant was clean, bright and staff was welcoming and on top of it! The pricing is great for the quality and service. The trio of dips was tasty. Pita bread was grilled and nicely seasoned. The lemon spup was very good. It's not a thick soup, more watery, but good. The sea bass was seasoned well, and the risotto was fantastic. Moussaka was delicious. The Sav Blanc and Pinot Noir were yummy, too! Home run and will be back on our next visit.

Tuna tartare was tasteless, like I was eating raw tuna from a supermarket. Sea bass was dry and also tasteless. Literally just squeezing lemon juice on it would've made it better. Other dishes were ok but for a $250 meal for two, I could've fed an entire village of 30 in Greece with better food

What a wonderful dining experience! We had excellent service from Bibiana! The food exceeded our expectations. We had the Octopus, the Sea Bass, Spanakopita and the Moussaka. All very delicious! We loved the ambiance and it was very convenient to the theatre we were headed to. We will be back!

This dining experience was long overdue and now I'm forever spoiled!!!My spouse and I arrived around 30 minutes early for our 5pm reservation and took a chance to see if the restaurant was open. They were gracious enough to offer us access to the bar until the 5pm seating. That level of service was a great indicator of the service we would receive throughout dinner. The restaurant week menu made it very difficult to decide on my three courses because everything sounded amazing. I decided on the Marouli salad, roasted chicken and Ravani dessert and my spouse got lentil soup, salmon and Molyvos sundae dessert. The chicken was so tender and the lemon on the potatoes is one of my favorite flavor profiles. The rice that came with my spouse's salmon had creamy roasted squash. YUM YUM YUMThe added candle to my cake for my bday was much appreciated. High level service, high quality food, unforgettable experience.

Cold restaurant tonight but awesome service, awesome food, great experience. It's a little pricey but worth at least one visit, especially for the desserts.

Be the first to ReplyI ordered their "Avgolemono Chicken Soup Dinner" for a sick
I ordered their "Avgolemono Chicken Soup Dinner" for a sick friend- paid $17.42 for pickup, and was honestly too embarrassed to bring to my friend. There is maybe one ladle's worth of soup. SEE PHOTO. I took it home and weighed it- 5.5 ounces. Smaller than a cup of tea. I thought, well maybe it will taste good? Traditional avgolemeno is hearty and wonderful when you are sick because it has eggs to thicken, lemon, chicken, and rice. This variation had no rice, no eggs, and a lot of scallions and perhaps cream?! The broth was very thin and the scallion was overpowering. Two pieces of chicken. They serve it with 8 pieces of pita bread. The soup went down the drain. PASS

The staff was amazing, they were great with checking in but not hovering! I also really enjoyed the food and the ambience. I'll be stopping back here next time I come to New York!

Four us went for dinner prior to our show at adjacent Carnegie Hall. My cousin had worked in the area for years and frequented this eatery. It was delicious we shared a trio of spread and some veggies as dips. Then we all had different entrees. I had the Mousaka, the other had the cod, salmon and chicken. All delicious. Staff was great and attentive. Dining room is big but deep and narrow so while packed it was not so loud that you have to shout across the table to be heard.

Charming and beautiful Greek restaurant in Midtown that I checked out last week. Major highlights are below:Moussaka - 5 Stars. I've never had this dish before, and am an instant fan. This is kinda like Greek lasagna and was so flavorful and cooked perfectly! Salmon - 4 Stars. I would have preferred this cooked at medium, but the flavor was wonderful and the char on the salmon crispy and flavorful.Almond Cake (Dessert) - 4 1/2 Stars. Absolutely tasty, crumbly, served warm and so delicious. Well balanced and somewhere between sweet and savory, this dish was the perfect way to finish this meal.Service was inconsistent, but this was also on a busy Saturday night. Fabulous wine list (kudos for the full bar as well) and great options of Greek fare. A charming spot that I'll gladly try when getting that fix for Mediterranean flavors.

Does this dish looks like $25 plus tax and tips 20%? The answer is No! Three small starters cost $29!!!! The meat was delicious though. The service was lower average.
Be the first to ReplyThe waiter that served us was extremely rude and racist.
He was showing us attitude and kept cutting us off mid order. He wouldn't take our order at first and made us wait for at least 25 mins. The food was very little in portion considering the price of it. We went there for our friend's birthday dinner and he completely ruined it for us. We made a note in the reservation that it is a birthday but they didn't even address it when we ordered the desserts. We felt very uncomfortable and neglected being there.
