Mohonk Mountain House New Paltz Reviews from The Last Year
Great Place, Great Staff
Great Place, Great Staff! April 2024 If you are considering a visit to Mohonk Mountain House I recommend you stop thinking about it and go! The place is beautiful, the food is excellent and the room was lovely. The best part was the truly awesome staff. We visited from April 15-17 and found every single person we encountered to be very pleasant and helpful A special thank you to Daryl at the front desk who provided exceptional customer service, In the dinning room we were greeted at every meal by Jamaal who made us feel so welcome and special. We ate every meal at the same table “Orchid 2 "The servers while always different at each meal all provided excellent, helpful and attentive service. They should be commended for a great job! We visited the greenhouse and met the manager. He was friendly and informative we appreciated him taking the time to speak to us. . Merhert in the gift shop provided another example of great customer service. The entire gift shop team were lovely. Every member of the hotel staff deserves a special thank you for making our stay one to remember. Looking forward to a return visit. Read less
Lovely, but LOTS of FAMILIES
We had a really lovely time at Mohonk Mountain House. It is so nice to wander and feel taken of and not worry about cooking or restaurant reservations (when you stay you do have to reserve a time to show up for dinner). We stayed mid week and were able to get a significant discount. Our total for two nights was around $1700. We each had 2 spa treatments they each run about $215. Some of the more desirable hikes were closed for icy conditions- but luckily there are plenty of trails. Our room was sweet and small with a fireplace (King with lake view). We had a lovely small balcony with 2 rocking chairs and a great view. We ordered wood from the front desk and had a little fire going one night. Our food at dinner very good. The Halibut was excellent. Lunch is a buffet style with many options and just okay. We might have picked the wrong week to go- there were SO MANY families. It made what I hoped for a romantic a very different experience. Kids were for the most part just being kids- but I looked forward to a more refined experience at dinner (was told men had to wear collared shirts). One teenager wore an old baggy tshirt and too huge sweat pants. At one table a little girl was watching her iPad and singing and dancing (in place- not disruptive) and these made the atmosphere feel more chucky cheese than $$$$ a night mountain resort. Kids Rand down the hallway (there is one sign by the lobby elevator that asks children not to run down the hallways). I was awoken at 7am by a crying baby. We still had a great time- we just adjusted our expectations. I am sure it is not possible, for business/financial reasons, but Mohonk would be perfect if they offered a “couples week”- or an adults only few weeks of the year.
Still Great, but I Miss the Dinner Buffet
We hadn't been back to Mohonk since pre-covid times, and it's great to see that they are continuing to upgrade their slightly aging facilities -- A great stay is getting better, and their post-covid traffic seems to sustain their renovations. One downer however: Be aware that they've ended their dinner buffet and aren't doing a great job shoe-horning their new menu-order format into their traditional regimen of reserved-seating. Maybe they'll loosen up the 90-minute seating-window someday.
Excellent getaway, great service!
We had an excellent relaxing stay. Rooms are kind of old fashioned but everything works very well and our bed was comfortable. Food is amazing and all included in the price. We made use of the spa, and had yoga and meditation classes which were great. We also hiked the beautiful grounds. But the service from all staff is outstanding, and that makes the difference here. Yes, this place is expensive but if you can afford it you will have a GREAT getaway. We will be back here at some point.
The perfect all-inclusive getaway, right in our “backyard”!
We took our family to Mohonk Mountain House for spring break. This place was amazing! Davida, from the call center, was so nice and helpful in booking us for a last minute getaway. We were very happy with the accommodations and service was top notch! The grounds are also very beautiful. No matter what time of year you stay at Mohonk Mountain House, there are so many indoor and outdoor activities, as well as an amazing amount of food to keep all the humans happy. The best part is that it is all-inclusive!
Mohank Review
Amazing scenery, unlimited food! Farm to table selection was excellent! My daughter (we were there for her bday) loved it! Friendly staff, great activities. The yoga class was so relaxing. I met someone who was there three times before and we are definitely going back. Advise-book spa before you go there. Something’s were already booked.
The hike is amazing!
Beautiful location in an amazing environment. The personnel was excellent—polite, effective, and accommodating. I got a peaceful room with a lake view. Although the meal is ordinary and unremarkable, overall it was a really memorable experience.
Relax and recharge in a serene oasis
I'm reluctant to write this because I would love to keep this gem a secret but their service and facilities are so consistently wonderful that feel I owe the family and staff a review. Bravo for doing an amazing job, for keeping a historic property in pristine condition, and for maintaining an oasis of calm in a world that is increasingly chaotic. I wish they needed an in-house eye doctor because I would live there in a heartbeat.
There is a schism in what they’re trying to be
This is not my first stay at a high-end “luxury” hotel so I’m writing this from that perspective. There are really odd disconnects across the board. The valets who greeted us - awesome. Wouldn’t change a thing. Friendly, down-to-Earth, efficient, asked all the right questions and gave all the right guidance as to next steps. Check-in: bizarre. There was a woman whose job must’ve been to greet guests and keep everyone moving along, but nothing. “Checking in or out?” She asked. “In.” Then nothing. The queue was non-existent and it was just a mass of people. It was also a ‘kids stay free’ weekend and completely chaotic. When we got to the desk, the young man was civil, but robotic; and he was the best of the bunch. We had booked a suite for a few grand for just 3 days and two nights. It was our first trip in six years so we decided to splurge. The place is confusing and although they give you one paper map of the place at check-in, the signage inside the hotel is sparse to say the least. Nothing in the elevators. The place is palatial and it wouldn’t hurt to have a discreet and stylish version of a mall map (trust me - it’s complex enough to warrant it). I get they don’t want to ruin any of the history, but at the same time - they could find nuanced ways to enhance the visitor experience on that front. As far as ambiance, it’s beautiful old world charm…with more bare bulb fixtures blaring at you than you could ever imagine. At the time, that was the best you could do after gas light fixtures. But if the place evolved from gas light to bare bulbs (as they became available), I’d suggest it’s time for your next advancement because the bare bulb thing - is abrasive and overwhelming - every corridor, every room, the main gathering places. An endless sea of lightbulbs. And dust! I’m 6’4” and I don’t think anything was dusted over the height of 5’10”. Cobwebs on our bathroom light fixtures, that sort of thing. Was just unexpected. And clutter on all the hallway windowsills every day. As they’d service a room, they’d use the windowsills in the corridors to pile napkins, used dishes, etc. Really took away from the character and views. Services - the spa was great! Two of the best massages I’ve ever had - but the culture in the spa was completely different from the main building and the dining areas to the point I was left wondering if indeed it’s run as a completely separate business; it felt that way. Breakfast and lunch felt as if we were on a cruise ship, with fewer choices. We arrived mid day and our first meal was lunch. The food was barely warm. The only hot thing we had was the soup - which was delicious. Then came dinner. When we booked the suite, they made SUCH A FUSS about men wearing collared shirts, slacks, and proper shoes to dinner. We have friends who stayed here years ago and they wouldn’t seat the husband unless he changed into slacks. So we took it seriously and packed accordingly. Seated next to us was a guy in a hoodie, blue jeans, and sneakers. If you’re not going to enforce your rules, don’t make guests feel badly and force them to pack according to a policy you don’t bother enforcing. You made this guest resentful and left a bad impression. Room service - inconsistent experience. First time, great. Second time, we asked for tea for two; chamomile. “Oh, we can’t do that unless you buy a box.” So we had to buy like a dozen pouches of Egyptian chamomile tea in a wooden box. Ridiculous. I could walk into any office break room in America and get a couple bags of chamomile tea. We ordered coffee the next morning - no one answers the phone in room service BTW - you have to leave a message, then they may or may not call your room back (and wake everyone up) so you can confirm what you already left in your message. Waited an hour - nothing ever showed up. Went to breakfast, came back to the room and room service had cleared the prior night’s tea service, but we left a note not to leave the coffee in case they ever showed up. Weird and not the glitzy experience they advertise and charge for. So in the end, everything was disjointed. I wasn’t going to go into all this detail, but when I told a friend about some of these oddities, she said “After a hundred years, you’d think they’d have it all worked out by now.” And she’s right - after a 100 years, I’d think they’d have it all worked out by now. The grounds - so impressive and beautiful. But I wouldn’t go back. Do a day trip. You’ll get the best of everything.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
When do funds get released
My funds from first transaction were supposed to be released today at 5:30 EST. Still showing in deposit account and not main balance

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
