Worse omakase japanese dinner in Singapore
The manager was extremely curt, bordering on being rude. Practically no explanation of the dishes presented. We ordered 6 omakase dinner meals. The sequence of dishes was messy and we all felt the restaurant had a take it leave attitude. The quality of the dishes and service did not merit the prices charged. The only saving grace of the entire evening were 2 of the serving staff who were polite. I will never ever return to this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyFriendly chef
Best part of the meal was the friendly Japanese chef who explained each dish and spoke good English. The sashimi and sushi were fresh and you can see that the restaurant prides itself with quality but the quantity and variety were a little underwhelming for the price. For example, I had expected otoro instead of chutoro to be used for the tuna sushi in the $288 set. However, the uni gunkan sushi was delicious and the seasonal fruits of persimmon, melon and strawberry ended the meal on a sweet note.
Be the first to ReplyGood value and quality
Its not easy to find good value Japanese omakase meals where $300 a pop is the norm
We had the $100 set for lunch. For that we had starters and 11 pieces of tempura and a rice bowl
It's not cheap but it still doesn't burn a big hole in your pocket after a fine dining experience that is otherwise the norm here in Singapore.
Ingredients are very fresh. The batter is reasonably light. A very competent fine dining tempura restaurant
Amazing food!
I strongly recommend this restaurant. The food was fantastic and the chef was very professional, precise and meticulous.
It is expensive but worth it !
Sophisticated Sushi
From Japanese point of view, the quality of Sushi is very good. Very sophisticated presentation. Good taste. A bit pricy but cost performance was still good to me.
Located Takachimaya, Japanese department store in Orchard. Nice location. Easy to access.
Excellent Tempura & Sushi
Its a small place with 2 counters, one for sushi, one for tempura. BUT - you can cross order , if you feel like it. There aren't many really good tempura places in Singapore, so I always choose the tempura counter, but order a few choice sushi pieces as well.
The food is excellent. It feels like tempura in Tokyo. 3 set menus, The middle one ( SGD 180) with a few added sushi pieces is a great value choice. Wine list is short but very well priced. Decent Burgundy at ~ 100 SGD.
Rubbish - Inconvenient
Poorly situated, on the fourth floor of a second rate mall.
Food lackluster. Service awful.
Exceedingly expensive - we were slapped with a 1,000 SGD bill for tid bits.
Staff did not speak English and were borderline rude.
Stay away.
Convenient location but price can be more reasonable
It is located in the Ngee Ann City, so one day after shopping we went here to eat for dinner. I always like to eat at Tenshin(another Tempura store in the Regent Hotel), so I figured I should try other similar restaurants.
If I’ve never tried Tenshin, I would say Mizuki is very nice. But with comparison, Mizuki’s tempura is more oily and the Uni tempura is less than Tenshin. Also, the white fish has no fish taste. If Tenshin is a 10, Mizuki will be 8.
The reason I compared with these two restaurants is that Tenshin used to be more expensive than Mizuki, so it is understandable for better food quality. But recently those two shops have very similar price.
Therefore, if the price is the same, I would definitely go to Tenshin. But Mizuki does have a better location.
(BTW, We went there on Tuesday night and we are the only customers there)
Unfriendly, pretentious and judgy
The quality of food is great, menu was pretty limited and the service was appalling given the pricing.
Perhaps it was because we didn’t opt for the Omakase and chose ala-carte instead. Our waiter was not very friendly, did not offer smiles and when asked about the sashimi options, he just proceeded to reply with the Japanese pronunciation instead of explaining what kind of fish, texture or taste.
Better off taking ur money elsewhere.
