I wanted to have afternoon tea while in London and found
I wanted to have afternoon tea while in London and found out about this place. I was excited that they had vegan and vegetarian afternoon tea. We were immediately greeted and sat since I made reservations online. Customer Service was amazing and we were checked on often. The food was so good and there was nothing we didn't like. When I am in London again, I will definitely be returning.
Be the first to ReplyVivien was an absolutely amazing waitress.
I came with my family and I am gluten intolerant. She went out of her way to help me find something on the menu that I could eat. She was consistently checking in with the chefs to get any answers. My family had ordered something that originally was not gluten free because it was fried in the same oil as other foods and she came back and told me that they were changing the oil to accommodate me and i could eat what my family had ordered. If you go to Mayfair kitchen ask for Vivien as your server. She goes above and beyond to meet any needs you have. Thanks again Vivien for a great lunch!!

FANTASTIC! The atmosphere was swank-of course. But the food was really impressive. I'd planned on trying a variety of English teas and this was the perfect time. I tried each one and our waiter, Janos, was quite helpful. He even let us have extra sandwiches. His service was impeccable without being stuffy. Which was unexpected because there were folks there dressed to impress but I'd been up 24 hours traveling and looked like hell. But he treated us just as well! Be sure to try the hot chocolate! The sandwiches look so plain with that soft, white bread. But they tasted so good that we ordered some duplicates. All included in the price. The scones were nice but I prefer clotted cream to chantilly whatever they served. Don't get me wrong, we finished that too. The chocolates at the top were fabulous. So decadent! Tiny, little tiramisu! I wished I had room left because they would have brought more! Don't miss this if you want to try a proper English tea service and love chocolate!

Loved the Spanish tapas inspired dishes. Amazing flavors and balance. Lovely decor. Fitting for any occasion. I will be back on my next visit to town.

tonight, my mother and I came in and the hostess made us sit in the bar. We sat there for around 10 minutes with not one single person came by to take our order and a group of men were being loud. So, I got up with my mother and asked for a table, so we could have a better environment and service. Then, the rude hostess said no we can't. And I said well no one has been there to give us service, so can we please have a table? She said no again, and I asked why? She then wedged herself in between my mother and I and said fine here's a table. We are staying at the hotel and have never been treated more poorly. I asked her for her name to mention it to the concierge and she said she doesn't have to give it to us. She has dark brown hair and pale skin and was working tonight. We were completely shaken up by this horrible service, so we just decided to leave. We pay a decent amount to stay in a "nice" hotel, and then get treated like this. It is sickening. Our experience in London has been fantastic. But, this woman's attitude was more than unappreciated. Next time we will just go to the Ritz.

The service & food was extraordinary. Small tapas menu. Even the olives and peppers on the table were great. If you get a chance hit the patio on the roof.....awesome ambience
Be the first to ReplyI love the breakfast here.
Excellent croissants, delicious butter great variety in the buffet. My personal favorite dish is the truffled eggs Benedict. I look forward to staying at this hotel because I enjoy the breakfast so much. Service is solid, but I think the hostess should allow single diners to choose their seats. She tried to seat me at a table for two away from the window, I asked if I could move near the window and she said the tables were not available (despite being empty and the same size and 2 place settings). So I sat elsewhere. A few minutes later she sat a couple at one of the table I requested. The other tables remained empty. Left a bad taste. This has not been an issue during my previous stays.
Be the first to ReplyWe stopped into this restaurant on a whim.
The restaurant was almost empty so I asked if they were serving dinner. They said they were and asked if we had a reservation. Since the restaurant was almost empty, I asked them if we needed one. They said no and seated us. We were dressed rather casually, since we had been sightseeing all day. I felt a little underdressed but didn't worry since there were no other patrons. The hostess came to our table and asked us what our room number was. I told her that we weren't registered at this hotel and asked if that was a problem. She said no, and left. The waiter came over to explain their menu items. They serve tapas and we were very familiar with tapas, having just come from Barcelona the day before. We ordered 5 dishes to share between the two of us. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious. I would recommend this restaurant if you have money to burn, because our dinner was $175 US. It was nice, but not worth the price.
Be the first to ReplyI slouched on the rotating armchair with the 3 tier
I slouched on the rotating armchair with the 3 tier afternoon tea served up in front of me, as my eyes worked from top to bottom admiring the pattisier's work, the engaging colours and arrangement of the food and begin to wonder how I should approach it. [pic] the most eye catching, colourful, sinful desserts are strategically placed on top. And so, I started with the savoury sandwiches which constitues of:1. treacle cured salmon, lemon mayo and watercress2. roast ham, piccalili, mustard cress3. cucumber cream cheese, dill on tomato bread4. somerset brie with plum chutney. The bread had dried out forming a slight crust, not visible to the naked eye but was undeniable when we ate. The quality of the bread was only merely average and the filling was so thin that it seemed tightwad. The scones were very buttery (and nice butter too) but were a little dry. The selection of cakes and fancies did better than the savouries. We had strawberry macaroon, millionaire shortbread, fruit tartlet, super moist chocolate cake, pimms jelly and chocolate eclair. The winner was the super moist chocolate cake followed by a highly commended fruit tartlet. The May Fair Kitchen was very comfortable and I could imagine myself quite happy being left alone in my own world, sipping the bottomless tea and coffee.Luckily they gave me a doggy bag to take, because I am not quite used to eating so many sweets at once. I hope that my lucky trail is a never ending path because afternoon tea is something I could have more often. Especially when it is an indulgent one. Cheers!
