Be the first to ReplyGreat ambience
The food was very good, great location, great music. Very sophisticated crowd Service at our table was good and friendly but the whole staff looked like bodyguards, wired and with microphones, very exaggerated for a restaurant The female service was more arrogant than the guests, a laughing stock, prices not so good 😧

Be the first to ReplyNo comparison with international Matsuhisa
Unfortunately my experience with the above mentioned restaurant today in Athens was very low. I work in Crystal Cruises onboard the Serenity as Chief Finance Manager and we have onboard Matsuhisa restaurant. So I wanted today to compare the 2 different premises. Unfortunately the one in Athens is not equal. Therefore when I return back ,I will share my experience personally with Mr.Nobu, wich he need to know. Allow me to describe you why: When I arrived at the reception the hostess had no idea about my reservation, although the same morning I received confirmation mail about my reservation. Then after we resolve this matter with my reservation, they seat us and we start the menu. The first dish was the "White fish dry miso" which we found a small fish bone in one of the plates. I called the waitress and I report it very polite and we never received an apology, even more a small discount on the total bill as compensation on this serious matter. They serve the wine by dripp tears out of the glass, indicate how low Training or moode to serve our waitress she had. In general the hall attitude was to finish with us and turn the table for another client. The black Cod and sushi was not up to the reputation of Matsuhisa. The terrace we had lunch need serious level of maintenance, the sealing above our head was full in rust!! The music selection (dance 80's) totally irrelevant with the restaurant food theme and with nature landscape. Overall if I did not have taste the food and experience the quality of service of Matsuhisa abroad, I will beleive that the one in Athens is an average Japanese restaurant, and not world renowned brand. Defenatly I will not return again on this Japanese restaurant in Athens!!! They need to take serious action and improve asap.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place amazing service
Spot great for date night. Food was nice and pretty. Wines were great ! You should probably book a villa for the night at asteras
Be the first to ReplySimply disappointing
If I may compare it with what it was 5 years ago, the food quality seems poor to say the least. The service was inadequate too.
Be the first to ReplyDON’T BOTHER
The place looks beautiful and the food is nice but the whole experience was spoiled by the low quality of service especially the hostess at the entrance and our waiter. We wanted a table outside to enjoy the view but they refused despite the terrace being almost empty and remained so till the end of our lunch. For a restaurant charging such egregious prices they should at least invest in better trained and nicer staff. Definitely a place I would avoid in the future
Be the first to ReplyA lovely place with excellent cuisine and service but extremely overpriced!
A beautiful place with view on the sea , good service great cuisine that you will enjoy your stay and food which unfortunately is extremely overpriced !
Be the first to ReplyThe present Nobu Athens has nothing compared to the past…
Nobu has a great ranking history of Japanese sushi. Connecting with the past although does not reveal the current quality situation…. Salmon tartar with salmon cut from supermarket (smoked) lidl type… the waiter was very kind to not charge … taco lobster with the temperature of the lobster frozen… and overall medium ranked dishes.
Be the first to ReplyVery very bud!
Very bud service the staff was very incompetent the food nothing special we pay 860€ ! I don’t recommend this restaurant it’s only for tourists with out experience We are there 10/6 2023 for my birthday 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed Customer
I must say that I was shocked to get 1,250 Euro bill for a little sushi and cheep saki for two people.. The fish was NOT fresh the waitresses were only interested in selling expensive bottles of saki (700 EURO) otherwise they were not very helpful, the restaurant has an amazing location, but it is old and in need of a face lift, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Be the first to ReplyBad experience - Low your expectations
We booked through Dine Athens package and they treated us terribly . We sat outside while was windy and cold, we had to eat with our coats. We were expecting better experience in such restaurant. We wanted to try in order to come again- but definitely not coming again back
Be the first to ReplyArrogant treatment of a client
I asked for a table outside and the waiter informed me that it was fully booked . Nevertheless 80% of the tables outside were empty. I guess that due to the season they were afraid that guests would feel cold. I did not mind about sitting outside and I asked 3 times 3 different people . Obviously the responsible person for reservations lacks customer service skills . Very peculiar thing for such a place . Unless he thinks that I should be obliged that I am eating at matsuhisa which is not the case. I have to admit, though, that the waitresses were very polite and the service very good. In Greek we say “Krima” that I did not enjoyed…..

To be fair, you're not just paying for the food when you go out to eat at this type of restaurant—you're paying for the whole dining experience. Was the sushi too expensive? Yes, it was, but it takes talent, time, training, and high-end ingredients to appropriately build each handmade sushi roll. At the end of the day dining at Matsuhisa is without a doubt a unique experience, so if you don't want to stretch your budget, cheap and sushi CAN go together, just not in this place. Just a little fine-tuning on the otherwise extremely pleasant staff, to be aligned with the price.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive … yes … but very good
I agree with many other guests that the prices are steep. 11 Euro for Edamame, much more for appetizer and 55+ Euro for a main course are high and - I agree - inappropriate the days. But all the dishes we received (mushroom soup, grilled veggies, salmon, sea bass) were excellent, not small at all and very tasty and flavorful. The service was excellent … well the second waiter was after the first struggled with the wine order … and the entire setting and background music was very comfortable. Maybe they do listen to the comments made on TripAdvisor after all …
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced, poor service, food is okay.
I read some of the negative reviews after booking a table here and decided to go ahead in the hope it might not be accurate. Unfortunately the reviews are accurate! Service is not what you would expect for a restaurant of this price. This does not compare whatsoever to Nobu or another fine dining restaurant in London. Service was slow and they forgot two of our side dishes so we had to eat them separately at the end. Food was nice but not amazing, very average sushi and some of the appetisters are extremely small for the price. Music is too loud and off vibe. There was no drinks menu, we had to ask a waiter only to be told that we had to scan a QR code! My husband ordered a cocktail for 28 euros! The waiter did try to help with our allergies but unfortunately the rest of the experience ruined it for us. I would not return here, seek out an authentic Greek restaurant if you are in the area, we have had far better dining experiences during our holiday in Greece when choosing to eat at local restaurants.
Be the first to ReplySeverely overpriced and uninspiring with average service.
Severely overpriced, small portions with nothing really exciting. Sushi rolls were no better than a fast food sushi restaurant. In fact, the rice was surprisingly loose. It also came without the usual soy sauce and it took three attempts to get a waiter to bring some. Wagyu tacos were very poor, with portion too small for the price and no special flavour. Taco, a spoonful of minced beef and a jalapeno. Similar with the rest of the order. Cocktails were a rip off at 28euros, again with nothing special to justify. Service was average. Fake polite to get you to order more and difficult to pin down the waiter when we needed to ask for something. Also was not clear who was our waiter. Asking three times for soy sauce and getting it after sushi was finished didn’t help either. Nor did the fact that we waited 20 minutes to get bill and pay. Only worthy point is the view but paying an extra 100 euros per person for that, is again too much. Even if money is not an issue, you don’t want to be taken for a fool. With best of intentions, this is a place that makes no sense to visit again.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced- more of a club than a restaurant
The experience at matshuhisa was disappointing. Food was good, but nothing exceptional and definitely not with 150 € per person. We wanted to have a romantic dinner and the music was so loud that we couldn’t talk. Apart from the volume the type of music reminds more of a club than a restaurant. Waiters were polite but they forgot to bring half of our order and were not vere helpful when it came to detailed information about the dishes. Location is amazing but the general atmosphere with the super loud music does not allow you to enjoy it. We would not come back. Maybe it’s a good place for drinks and some nibbles, but not as a restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyWon’t be back.
Matsuhisa was disappointing. The food was nothing great, but was decent enough. The service was not, though. I lived in Japan for over four years, and had expected more. The waitress did a truly miserable job of explaining the menu. In the confusion we were served (and paid for) a €120 bottle of sake we did not order. We had been told that we had the table for 2 hours. I understand that completely—but the waitress started hustling us to leave after 90 minutes. That was both uncalled for and embarrassing (we had a party of six). We won’t be back.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and arrogant hostesses
Overpriced restaurant for the food you get. We paid 700 euro for 2 persons and only 1 bottle of rose . The Hostesses at arrival are very arrogant and not friendly typical for this kind of venue. Views are nice but from the beef bar or mercato at the four seasons …the views are better , staff and hostesses much more friendly and professional and On top of that is the food in these restaurant much better. Save your money and look for other restaurants. We have been to all nobu’s in the world and all a lot of Michelin star restaurants and this was a disappointment. Do not mind to pay a lot but the service and friendliness should be as well on a high level which it wasn’t
Be the first to ReplyA delicious Japanese dinner on business
This review is on behalf of my father as he visited the country on business. He wanted to try some Japanese food so he went and got sol from there. It tasted delicious. Staff were super polite. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.
Be the first to ReplyAn utterly stunning location but with staff that was well below par, with good but not superb dishes, & rather inappropriate cho
Matsuhisa is located in a stunning location, indeed a very privileged location in fact. It's food is good but not superb. And not up the mark for the prices charged. And its staff is in fact quite unprofessional & indeed well below par for what it aims to be. In fairness as this is related to a visit in 2021 it may have improved by now as there was a general problem of poor quality staffing at the Astir Palace Four Seasons, which has presumably been fully addressed by now, as they could surely not be charging today's exhirbitant prices if that were not the case. I certainly hope so anyway.
Be the first to ReplyAn Interesting Visit, However Not as Good as we expected.
We visited the restaurant on Friday the 21st. It was a birthday and we are only the two of us. We booked almost a week in advance thinking that it could be fairly busy. On arrival the restaurant had only two tables, we were given a nice table facing the centerpiece with the fire. It was nice. We asked if we wanted a pre-dinner drink and we settled for two martinis, they were fine , well they should be at €25.00 each!! we ordered two taco's to start with with lobster and tuna. They were absolutely tasteless. Nothing to compare with the Nobu's we visited in Milan, Budapest or Las Vegas at Caesars Palace. Nowhere near the taste. We had the black code which was excellent, Spicy garlic shrimps €51.00 excellent. Slider which is a mini wagyu burger we actually had three, very tasty. We didn't had much to drink because we were at a party earlier and had several glasses of champagne , just as well they charge The food I must admit was excellent and it was worth it in my opinion except for the tasteless Taco's. we had two glasses of Italian wine that was reccommended which was very nice. The overall service was very good, the waiter was Konstantinos who was very helpful and accommodating so was all the rest of the service staff. What surprised us the most was the restaurant manager didn't approach our table once to check if we enjoyed the dinner or just drop by. The finer touches are missing in this restaurant. We mentioned it was a birthday, there was no reaction, not that we needed it, as mentioned the little extra touches for the type of restaurant are not there. they serve coffee without friandises, plastic coasters etc. It needs fine tuning. I don't really care how many years its been there to me is nowhere near the other Nobu restaurants we visited.

A superb restaurant at an unbeatable location. The signature black cod dish deserves its reputation.
