From our initial re-seating to the spectacular view, the service was top notch by our most professional server, Diego. Our cocktails all came out fresh and delicious. Our tapas were all appreciated and really delicious- with our favorite being the mussels con chorizo in roasted tomato broth. The dining service was well paced and we didn't feel rushed or neglected in a busy Thursday night service. We ended the meal with some delightful desserts, including the maple coconut flan. We enjoyed our meal so much that we purchased two of Lisa Dahl's cookbooks to try our hand at making some of our favorite dishes and drinks! We will be back next time we are in Sedona!
Be the first to ReplyNothing special about the food.
You are going mainly for the ambience and the view. Service was prompt and professional. We had their signature burger and the Cubano deluxe. The beef patty was cooked to my liking but the sliced up lettuce and sauce weren't up to par. Sorry to say this but In and Out was much better. The cubano deluxe was flavorful; bread was toasted well and pickles had the right amount of brininess. Maybe dinner is much better but I don't see this as a must do restaurant.

First the views and atmosphere are world class and our service was mostly good. The waiter was pushing the "bartenders special old fashion". I decided I would have an old fashion but have learned to ask the price; $28! I shouldn't have to ask the price of a special cocktail not on any of the menus. How many people don't realize they just ordered a nearly double priced cocktail, or two three. Chorizo empanadas appetizer was very good. Wife had Flores Del Mar. The shrimp and lobster were way over cooked and tough. She left one of only two shrimp on the plate, I wouldn't even eat it. She also felt the dish was too spicy since the menus didn't mention spicy. Overall not well prepared. I had the ribeye. It was average with no marbling and a little tough. I kept wishing I had a sharper knife. The waiter didn't come to check on us until we were done. We told him of our disappointments. A manager came over. She said we should have said something. First; no one asked. Second, we prefer to eat together when we are spending $250. If one of us sends a dish back we don't eat together, ruining our experience. Third; it should be their job to get it right the first time. She took $16 off of our $250 bill. We were not looking for a discount, I wanted her to know of our concerns, but after looking at some reviews I see these issues are not new. So, drinks and meal average, views excellent; but aren't the views great everywhere in Sedona? Lesson learned.

If you want breathtaking views and delicious food, this is a must in Sedona. Enjoy empanadas while taking in the pretty picturesque mountains and share a caesar salad with your table. You can't go wrong with the yucca fries or the homemade soup, either! Unfortunately, we were too hungry to take a photo. Friendly staff and an exquisite restaurant!
Be the first to ReplySuper bummed.
We got reservations here a couple of months prior to our arrival. The restaurant itself is lovely. We had rainy foggy weather during our visit so sadly we didn't get an opportunity to marvel in the amazing views of the sun-tipped red rocks but that's ok. All staff were remarkable. From the gentleman at the door checking us in, to the hostess desk, to our server Shelly. Everyone was very kind and friendly. We ordered 2 silver Patron margaritas on the rocks no salt. They didn't taste as they should have (we always order silver Patron margaritas wherever we go)- and we found out later, as per our bill, they were denoted as Skinny Patron Margaritas.... yea... that explained a lot. We started off with the Caesar salad with anchovies and the anchovies had an overly fishy and sour taste. Completely inedible so we worked around the salad and just made it work. The empanadas and chimichurri were outstanding! I ordered the skirt steak and the steak was overcooked, and the potatoes and beans were cold. My husband ordered the ribeye and it lacked flavor. The a la carte Au Gratin potatoes were also cold and lacked flavor. We didn't eat those either. He also ordered a caipirinha which is something we also commonly order at Brazilian restaurants. The caipirinha was too sweet and also missed the mark on flavor. The coup de grâce was receiving the bill for such a disappointing experience. Of course we said nothing, as we're not the "whiny" type and certainly don't expect "favors" on our bill.... but if you come here... plan on at least $125 per person. We knew the price going in. No surprises there. Was just super bummed to pay such a high bill for the lack of "wow" that this establishment commands. Perhaps our expectations were too high. Sadly we won't be recommending.

What a cool place!! Loved the food and the servers were mostly all bilingual and so proud of the food and ingredients! Awesome atmosphere, will definitely be back!

It dawned on me that I failed to rate this awesome spot in Sedona from a birthday dinner I enjoyed a while back. I would love to go back again, my first experience at Mariposa was delightful. We enjoyed drinks, a steak dinner, and desert. All with the red rocks of Sedona as our focal point. The Mountain View's really give the Mariposa such great ambience. I mean, it's Sedona, anywhere you look is beautiful. Service was excellent, the food was delish, and I couldn't ask for better company.

Food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful. Wait staff were great. Highly recommend the prickly pear cheesecake. Make a reservation!
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous place with amazing views.
Food was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. Shout out to one of the best waiters I've had in years...Brian! He loves his job and is engaging & helpful! We had a fantastic time and hope to visit again next time our travels bring us to Sedona!
Be the first to ReplyNot sure what was better.
The view or the service. Probably the service. Made my fam of 5 feel like royalty. Leo and John were our waiters and were awesome. Leo had great suggestions (Filet, mashed potatoes w/lobster, prickly pear cheesecake) that we decided to get. Amazing dishes w/excellent flavor. More than enough to eat. The sides themselves could be a meal lol. The view is just ridiculous. Next time in Sedona we'll be back.

Looking forward to visiting Mariposa again sooner than later! The food and overall vibe was 5/5 stars! I do hope to plan further in advance to get dining room seating for the next time. Our party of 4 was seated in a high-top table near the bar, overall still a great experience! The noise level was a bit higher though, but our waiter was amazing and Ms. Lisa Dahl herself greeted us and asked how our meal was which was an awesome ode to end the night.
Be the first to ReplyWent for dinner last night and had a 5:45 pm reservation.
We weren't sat until 6:05 pm which wasn't a big deal. We took in the beautiful views while waited. The restaurant itself is beautiful, big, and classy. The large windows show amazing views. Booth areas face directly towards them and looked super cozy. We started with our usual - grey goose martini, dirty, & an old fashioned (no big ice cubes, surprised us for such a nice place). For apps, we had the portobello empanadas; they were amazing! Keep in mind, you cannot mix and match to have one of each flavor. All 3 empanadas are the same kind. For entrees, we both had the 7oz filet cooked medium & asked for the sauces on the sides. We were surprised at how much we liked the mushroom gorgonzola one. Our sides were asparagus & the au gratin potatoes, which were full of layers! I had the trinita malbec cab with dinner. We finished with the maple coconut flan which was perfection. Only negative (aside from the big ice cube), was that our waiter seemed like he had a large area to cover, so it took a little longer to order our dinner and dessert. The staff did work great together though, clearing items and plates when necessary.

My sister and I are visiting our sister in Phoenix for well needed respite in Sedona. Mariposa was recommended by the hotel staff as a good place to have cocktails and appetizers to enjoy the view as she and her husband do. Since we didn't have reservations, we decided that would be a fun way to experience their fare, and the views would be lovely. When we walked to the door we were met by a woman who never smiled and promptly told us the bar was not open and they were full for the dinner service. She never asked us if we had a reservation or even suggest we make a reservation or come back another time for cocktails. It was clear she was telling us we were not welcome. Another family walked up behind us while we were trying to talk with her and she immediately smiled and said "Sir, I can check you in". We were never smiled at or offered any suggestions or just simple courtesy by someone in the service industry at an upscale restaurant. Not a good feeling. We then went to The Hudson, also recommended, where we had Excellent service and a great server (Rebecca), creative cocktails, delicious appetizers and amazing entrees. The silver lining! We're happy that's where we spent our money!

The Mango Paloma was amazing. We enjoyed the Scallops and chefs special Empanadas for appetizers and had filet and fish for dinner. Make your reservations well in advance to get a tableWith a view

The ambience is definitely nice and classy . Would definitely recommend!

Ok so thankful we weren't turned away on Saturday for not having reservations. Make reservations!!The host made special accommodations for us to sit at the bar to eat. My friend ordered a delicious steak. I had the lamb chops- didn't care for the sauce but the lamb chops were generous and cooked to perfection. I scraped off the sauce and chops were ok. Warning: side dishes ordered a la carte. Was told the family style potatoes would serve two. While they were delicious, there was only 4 bites for each of us. Upscale dining. Waiter was patient and answered all our questions. Took awhile for food to be served. I left hungry. Lamb chops never have a lot of meat and four bites potatoes weren't filling. Suggest ordering the steak instead. Probably won't eat here again. Pricey for the portion food given.
Be the first to ReplyPretty bizarre experience overall.
Came here thinking this was going to be an outstanding dining experience given that you sometimes need to make a reservation a month in advance, they take a credit card for the reservation, etc.The entire experience was a bit off putting. It's near impossible to reach a live person at the restaurant. I got a weird text message close to my arrival telling me I have a limit on the time I can spend at my table and also can't wait inside the restaurant for my table and also it's not an option to get a drink at the bar. The message even told me to bring a jacket so I can stay warm while waiting lol. So weird. The restaurant phone auto message cautions you to dress appropriately so you don't offend the other guests celebrating special occasions. Just a bunch of weird tacky things for an upscale restaurant. We ordered a lot and nothing impressed us. The red wines by the glass are not good. The server was determined to find me a wine I liked and I sampled like 6 of them that he brought me...I finally settled on one because I felt bad at that point. The pisco sour was not very good either. We got the Australian rack of lamb which was the best item. The server talked up the filet mignon which was average. The prickly pear cheesecake and beef empanadas were nothing special. The octopus was charred. The lobster mashed potatoes were not good. We didn't eat most of our food and spent a ton of money on this meal. The vibe, decor and landscaping is awesome and exciting. Even as you drive up to the parking lot the property is beautiful. The servers have a strange tag team system that they explain to you when you sit down. The whole thing is very uncoordinated and we basically had one person come ask us all the same questions exactly a minute after our first server came by. There was no communication between the team so we had two inquiries at every stage of the dining experience for what we wanted to order, how things tasted, drink refills, etc. It was unusual and probably more confusing for their kitchen and bar than helpful for us. I've never had great food in Sedona and had been hoping this would change the pattern but once again this is one of those restaurants in a tourist town that knows it can get by with basically anything.
Be the first to ReplyHands down the best restaurant in Sedona.
The beef empanadas with potatoes and cheese were great tasting, the dough used was flaky and buttery. Amazing mesquite grilled ribeye was delicious and perfectly cooked. One of the best steaks ever!! The chicken with lemon potatoes was very good and had great seasoning. The chicken was tender also. Ceaser was our waiter and did a fantastic job taking care of us. The red sangria from the bar was great and just the right sweetness. The restaurant had a very upscale yet relaxed feel to it.

The service was fantastic and everyone was very kind. Food was perfect! The skirt steak and side dishes was exactly right!

This place is all about the location, and rightfully so! The scenery is amazing, those mountains make you feel so small! Unfortunately so does Mariposa's staff, when it comes to reservations or inquiries about dining they just treat you like nothing. Even when you arrive it's like you should feel privileged to step inside lol. It's sad because we come to Sedona to get away from all of that. This is one of our favorite getaway's in the country not only because of the everything you see but the lovely people we have met. I don't mind overpaying for a moderate meal because of the scenery but being treated like your a nuisance for simple inquiries is just ridiculous.

Had dinner here a couple of times now and it never disappoints. The service and food were fantastic. Our party of six ordered a variety of entrees and everyone was very happy with their choices. This is definitely one of our go to places to eat while in Sedona.

Came for a bachelorette party in early April. We were well taken care of by Diego. He was personable, friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. We all enjoyed our meals and had leftovers for the next day. Highly recommend for your special event. Thanks Diego for a wonderful evening!
Be the first to ReplySo much potential.
But a letdown. We got seated at a table in the corner where a big curtain was blocking the entire view. I ordered the salmon, my fiancé ordered a rare steak, and we got a salad to split. It took 45 min for the food to come from when we ordered--it was unbelievable. I was ready to leave to be honest. And then the steak was well done--absolutely disgusting. My salmon was so small that I was basically done eating by the time they fixed his steak. The ONLY reason I am giving it 3 stars is because our server was friendly, the food (once accurate) was tasty, and they gave us free gelato for our anniversary.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is fantastic.
The most gorgeous views of any restaurant ever been to. Food is outstanding. The cocktails are exceptional. Staff and service is top-notch. I recommend a smoky pear cocktail!
