Pleased we went one final time!
Fabulous. Expensive. Lamented... We made our annual trip to London in December and wanted to sample Marcus one final time before it closed its doors. Very expensive (almost £500 for 2 but that included £191 for drinks and £61 service). Cannot say that was value for money but one final chance to enjoy this restaurant meant it was a special treat. I indulged in Sweetmeat followed by Venison, my wife had Crab followed by John Dory. All cooked to perfection. We then shared a wonderful cheese selection before departing. Thanks for the memories!

We had the chefs table, tasting menu and wine flight experience and it was fabulous. The whole experience was amazing, the food as i expected was out of this world, service impeccable and it was just the best day!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food but no accommodation made for food allergy and still no email yet!!
I booked Marcus few weeks for my husband ahead of our arrival yesterday for lunch. This restaurant has been on my bucket list for long time and love Marcus’s recipes and he is one of my top favourite chef’s. When booking I asked about the set lunch menu at £65 pp and I clearly made the restaurant aware that I have all fish/ seafood allergy and prefer not to eat pork. I was told this would be fine and chef would prepare alternative menu. I asked for the menu to be sent to me. I was contacted the day before our lunch for confirmation and asked again for menu options available and was informed that the chef was aware and expected to receive email. On the day I made the waitress aware prior to ordering. I have had a difficult year and this was a treat to us both. The food we had was amazing however no vegetables side dishes were available except for roast potatoes. The portion sizes were small. My husband stuck with the set menu but I had no option but to order from the Ala carte menu which was double the cost of the set menu. I am very disappointed that whilst you state your chef can accommodate alternatives if sufficient notice is given this did not happen!! For a Michelin starred restaurant this I found hugely disappointing! I didn’t make a fuss as much at the time but the head waiter Ednor made promises an email would be sent by him in the afternoon which I have yet to receive! On top of that the compulsory service charge should have been removed as I feel let down and paid over the top cost for a small portion meal. I ordered decaf tea which had to sent back as I had loose leaves with no strainer then the second pot was still weak! by then I just couldn’t be bothered to ask for third pot!! This was a shocking expensive meal for us at this time of year when we specifically asked to book your set lunch menu!! If the restaurant cannot accommodate please make sure you make your guest aware beforehand they have no choice other than pay the alacarte menu. Ednor reduced the cost by £20, which did nothing!
Be the first to ReplyIs This The Best Cod Dish in the World? Absolutely Phenomenal by Marcus.
Absolutely Phenomenal by Marcus Wareing, from MasterChef the Professionals on TV. Is This The Best Cod Dish in the World? This beautiful Cod dish is totally sensational. It's bursting with several remarkable and beautiful flavours, each popping different taste buds. It's like a FUN & Exciting Firework display popping in your mouth. The BEST and most tasty food dish I have had all year by far. Well Worth the visit & Highly Recommended. The staff, including Ednor, Lucas, and George were all phenomenal and real superstars. The service was impeccable. The foods are wonderful, and the wine list is very extensive running to some 60 pages.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, well cooked food , portion size disappointing
Excellent service and food , but 70 ml glass of wine and 50 grams of venison as a main course ,makes you feel cheated at this price point
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food with a slightly chaotic atmosphere
The mark I’ve given is perhaps a tad harsh but when you’re a Michelin Star restaurant charging for a meal that costs the same as a short holiday, I think it’s right to judge by the highest of standards. We can’t fault the food and we were absolutely full by the end of it, which hasn’t been the case in other Michelin star restaurants. The portions were generous and the flavours were exquisite. I’ll be intrigued to see where Marcus moves to as the restaurant at the Berkeley is a stunning, yet strange setting. It was like entering a maze! The actual restaurant room was overly warm (although I was wearing a jumper!) and it’s a shame you can’t see anything of the kitchen, as that’s always interesting to observe. The service was very friendly (multiple staff wished my wife a happy birthday, which was the reason for the occasion) but the atmosphere and service was also quite rushed and chaotic. We’d barely sat down before we were asked for our choices. I also think the sommelier was a bit miffed when I chose not to order from the wine menu. After asking for an alternative menu, I was brought a cocktail menu but a few minutes later, it was taken away without my order being taken. 10 minutes later, I was still without a drink and I had to ask again. Overall, it was a nice experience and the food was superb but for the price we paid, including a compulsory 15% tip, you expect the absolute BEST in service to go with it. We won’t be going back but that’s more because we can’t afford to go for this type of meal very often.
Be the first to ReplyA bit boring
Similar to so many other fine dining restaurants. It would have been nice to have had a stand out theme. Felt as though conversations were being listened to as we could hear other peoples. Good food but sadly not memorable enough for me to recommend. A bit boring really.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service
We are so sorry that this restaurant is closing in December. This wasn’t our first visit and all the good things from before were evident. Very welcoming, professional staff. From the moment of arrival you are made to feel like a special guest. Everything runs like clockwork. All the staff know their individual roles and fill them to perfection. The decor is attractive and the atmosphere calm but not stuffy. And the food is beautiful. Small plates, exquisitely presented and well described by the staff. We would love to return, but sadly that’s not to be. Best wishes to everyone of the staff in their next venture.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous food and atmosphere
We managed to get a table before Marcus closes at The Berkeley Hotel. Sensational lunch menu with plenty of extras, fabulous service as usual and a great atmosphere. We eagerly await the next generation of Marcus
Be the first to ReplyShows what is possible
Food, service and venue of the highest possible standard. Warm and welcoming service, eye-opening flavours. A brilliant brilliant restaurant. Front of house team of Ednor and Vicky get a special mention.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Service & Great Food
Marcus has become the experience we never want to miss when having a long weekend in London, so we aim to get there at least once a month and for good reason. Both the service and the food is superb, it is just unbeatable for us. Having posted several reviews over time, I won't go into to much detail now but suffice to say there are no bad options from the menu, if you are going for the first time we would suggest either the 5 or 7 course tasting menu as it gives the best overall experience and allows you to explore the various flavours the talented team of chefs headed up by Craig produce so expertly everytime. It is backed up by a great front of house team who create such a great guest experience always friendly but professional at the same time, making Marcus a perfect place to relax and enjoy an evening meal. For a great restuarant experience it takes both great people in the kitchen and front of house, Marcus has this combination and it should be on everyones list to experience.
Be the first to ReplyNot impressed
For a top rated michellin star not to be able to adapt the menu to meet my dietary requirements is ridiculous after confirming they could prior to booking. My wife ate I while i sat with her with a glass of water, she was not very impressed with the food
Be the first to ReplyBest meal ever
I was wondering if this would be great but not really all that great or not so much better than other places but it really was. I can’t fault it. Amazing food. Fantastic ingredients cooked to perfection. Wondrous combinations and food full of the best kind of question marks. The food was inspired, skilful, beautifully presented and beyond delicious. Also a shout out to the peach juice. It’s rare to see in the U.K. and beat what was until now my favourite. The restaurant itself is a very nice environment. Smart but not stuffy. This goes for the food and service too. It strikes the perfect balance between high-end without the pretence. There was a great atmosphere (and the music volume just right!) and we felt we had all the time in the world to enjoy the room and the great food and drink. Additionally, while nobody is here for a cheap eat, I’d say it’s excellent value. I have previously been put off/ unable to have set menus due to food allergies (gluten and dairy) but I was blown away by Marcus. I had full plates with all the little bits and pieces everyone else had or substitutes. I am used to bare plates and skipped courses. They really went above and beyond including even a birthday dessert for me. Finally, the service was really of note, so many thanks to the attentiveness (including aforementioned allergens) of Tom, our waiter for the night. We greatly look forward to returning.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding in every way
Outstanding in every way. The service from the team was exemplary from beginning to end. Welcoming and friendly throughout with real professionalism, the team made our visit really special. The food was delicious with portions that were just right for us and the accompanying champagne and wine choices showed how excellent their choice is even at the less expensive end of the range. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing and it was a real occasion and meal to remember for us.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic lunch with outstanding service
We had the 7 course tasting menu for our lunch and it was absolutely incredible. Really can’t fault any of the dishes and the wine paring was superb. The staff are brilliant and made the experience even more enjoyable. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplySuch a Treat!
My daughter and I had lunch as a pre-christmas treat. This is our second visit and did not disappoint! The service is attentive but not intrusive, everyone is made to feel special The food was amazing, so well seasoned and delicious. We like the way familiar flavours are taken to the next level , rather than 'weird' things designed to be overly challenging. The portions for each course are dainty but after 5 courses we had to ask for a posh doggy bag to eat the petit fours on the train home- we were so full! The highlight was seeing and meeting Marcus- we saw him in and out of the kitchen during lunch and as we left he was at the desk. He was so charming, we talked about Masterchef and were chatting so much the Maitre d' had to remind us our taxi was waiting. Highly recommended for a treat- yes it is not inexpensive but not ridiculous either
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience
One of the nicest and best value fine dining meals/experiences we have had in some time. Mlanden and the whole team were wonderful and we will certainly be returning. With the service and quality of food on offer, I am sure the team will get that 2nd star. We dined from the a la carte menu.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinner experience
We have recently had dinner with my family at the Marcus. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Everything was simply perfect - food, service, ambiance, staff. It has been some time since our previous visit and o can safely say that not only these people have kept their high standard but they have improved it even further.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a place to make good memories in.
We had been for lunch, and all I can say is what a tremendous experience. We were served by Ednor , Mladin, and Rozella. The service was absolutely on point, and we went for the five course tasting menu with a bottle of champagne and a lovely Amarone. We were not rushed, and it just felt so natural and not staged. The food was excellent, but you have to realise that it is rare nowadays to have a family atmosphere in such a lovely restaurant and they have this in bucket loads.
Be the first to ReplyWe ate in the private dining area ......
Initially all well However we were met at the entrance of the private dining area with nowhere to meet and chat before we sat down We also waited 10 minutes before being offered a drink They need to have somewhere for a private group to stand and meet before sitting down The menu stated off well but the fish (halibut ) was so tiny we all had trouble finding it on the plate The same has to be said for the fillet of beef. Fancy delivery with no star . The petit fours were inedible (all 16 of us felt this) . We were given a very junior team to look after us and the whole experience was as let down.We all had been looking forward to the evening -but we left disappointed and a little hungry ! The best course was the bread.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and great service
We dined tonight at Marcus for a belated birthday celebration. The table was booked 3 months in advance online and a gift voucher purchased which could be redeemed against the final bill. I emailed the restaurant regarding a query with the voucher and they couldn’t have been more polite or helpful. This also rings true for every single staff member at the restaurant. We chose to dine the seven course tasting menu, without wine pairing (not heavy wine drinkers) and it was exceptional. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Food was brilliant, service was impeccable (my wife holds her knife and fork in the opposite hands to which they’re usually set, this was picked up by the wait staff after maybe 2 courses, and thereafter her cutlery was placed the correct way for her!). It’s a Michelin star restaurant in the heart of Knightsbridge in London, so expect to pay those prices, yes, it was expensive but worth every penny and the perfect celebration for a special occasion. We wouldn’t hesitate in returning and thank you to everyone there tonight who made our dining experience and celebration so special.
Be the first to ReplyEvery single ingredient was perfection
We visited Marcus for the first time last night and we both thought that this was the finest Michelin restaurant we had been to. We had the 5 course tasting menu and added on the cheese course as well. Not only was every single dish out-of-this-world, but every ingredient within the dish was perfect - the complementary tastes and balances were all spot on. This was evidenced by the starting Scallop, apple, bisque, lime, thai basil which was so refreshing but also had a lovely chili/curry heat alongside it. The Waterloo, cuore del Vesuvio, black truffle - simply amazing - looks so simple but just so nice. My wife doesn't even like tomatoes - I've never seen her eat one, but she thought this was superb. The pork and apricot was really good. For the main course I opted for the beef, my wife the halibut. Both were sensational - my beef was so tasty and the carrot - wow - if all vegetables tasted like this there would be no problem getting kids to eat their 5-a-day, complemented by an exceptional source. Cheeses were all good, served with a selection of freshly made breads/crackers The desert of the 'Strawberry, fennel seed, rose' does simply not so the name justice. It is a lightly toasted, melt-in-the-mouth delicate meringue filled with a strawberry and rose creamy centre with a seriously tasty strawberry sauce with the fennel adding into the glorious mix. The service was impeccable, just the perfect balance of attentiveness without being overbearing. The explanations of each course were clear and gave an indication of the pride of working at such an establishment. Everyone of the team delivered with class. Well done to all involved - it was a super evening. If I could pick one fault it would be the price of the wine - there is not a bottle that is under £65 as far as I could see, which is a shame when some people (like me) come for the food first and the wine as secondary. If trip advisor has a rating system of marks out of 10 as opposed to 5, it would still be a 10/10 from me. This is not a 'just about a 5' mark - it's a proper full on 5. Dave ps) it was my wife's birthday so they gave us a slice of the best custard and nutmeg tart ever!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Birthday Lunch
I’ve always believed Tripadvisor should have a different scoring system - out of 100 not 5. Having visited Marcus for a birthday lunch with girlfriend I believe this more than ever. And here is why… I have rated them 5/5 the same as I’ll be rating Petrus where we had dinner later the same day. However, Petrus was better. BUT Marcus was still amazing and a 4/5 wouldn’t be fair. So with that said… We both opted for ‘Menu Three’ and both had the quail starter. The breast was delicious along with the sauce and garnish. I didn’t enjoy the confit leg, for me the breading was without any life in it. However, my girlfriend did and she ate mine also! For main I had the duck and it was wonderful. I love cherries which were well paired. It was just a superb dish in terms of tastes, textures and appearance. My girlfriend had the sea bass (which I tasted) and again it was delightful. For dessert I had the treacle option. Delicious. I wasn’t keen on the yuzu but that’s personal preference not a menu or cooking fault. My girlfriend opted for the islands chocolate which was a triumph. We enjoyed 2 glasses of rosé champagne to start and a Barolo with the main for me. If I had to get picky I’d have 2 very minor criticisms; (a) the toilets are in the main hotel and you have to walk through another restaurant and then into the hotel and (b) one of the sommeliers was very sombre, she never smiled once. But as I say, they are minor ‘first world problems’ and they wouldn’t put me off returning. They also presented my girlfriend with a birthday cake which was appreciated. Well worth a visit here.
Be the first to ReplyVery Impressive
Four of us had a celebration dinner last night for my daughters graduation. Service standard was quite impeccable from start to finish, and the tasting menu was diverse, balanced, cooked and presented to perfection … the meringue dessert was one of the most fantastic we’ve ever eaten. My son and daughter aren’t able to eat ‘cheese’ and this was accommodated with fabulous alternatives. This restaurant, the chefs and the team working hard within, really are a credit to Marcus Wareing. I love masterchef and his reputation and ability to provision honest and constructive feedback is surely reflected here. Thoroughly recommended for a fine dining experience - and thank you for a great evening!
Be the first to ReplyMy favourite Michelin in London
Love Marcus. Been a number of times. Prefer it to several 3 and 2 star Michelins in London. It should be at least 2 Michelin stars. Grey food, ambience, service and experience.
