Had Not Been In Years & Place Did A Remodel. Solid Food & Outstanding Service
Had not been to MB Post in years and was glad we came for a dinner on a busy Satruday night. Service was outstanding and food was very good to excellent. Stand outs were the mussels in green curry, green beans and scallops with peas.

We had one night in LA to see some members of the family and they took us here. Young hipsters they are so this was appropriate for them. Not for us since we are seniors. The place is way to noisy so you had to really raise your voice to be heard. If the food had been exceptional it would have compensated for the hectic vibe but it was the typical grazing small plates like at most brew pub places. We we got out to eat we prefer more intimate places where you can talk and have food made by an individual chef's sensibility.

MB Post is located in downtown Manhattan Beach and is a great stop for dinner. The menu is large and made primarily with dishes intended for sharing. We had the scallops, green beans, cheddar bacon biscuits, skirt steak, tomatoes , and fried chicken. I would recommend all meals except the chicken as it was very breaded and overdone. In addition, the have a large drink and wine menu. The atmosphere is lively and noisy on the weekend so be aware if you are looking for a more quiet dining experience this isn’t the restaurant for you. In addition, the restaurant gets very crowded so service can be a little slow on a busy night. Overall a very good experience.

This was our first visit, and we went for brunch on a Sunday morning. It was busy, but the noise level, combined with some weird piped music, was unacceptable. The Illy coffee was not very hot and decidedly weak, certainly unexpected for a $5 cup of coffee. Our Bloody Mary was fine, and instead of the usual celery stalk, they creatively used a pickle wrapped in prosciutto. We ordered the vaunted Buttermilk Muffins and were very pleased with them. For mains we both had the Chimichangas which were large and well-seasoned; the downside was that they were bone dry and there was not enough sauce on the plate to help even a little. I thought the overall quality did not match the high prices.

New renovated interior is really nice. Bacon Cheddar Biscuits all day, every day. Have gone for brunch and for dinner; both are amazing

For me the best restaurant in LA Torrance and all the beach side. Excellent food and service, very nice atmosphere. Great and proper cocktails and selection of wine. The presentation of the food is excellent and also the decor is great. Definitelly must visit spot.

The staff are excellent. My business party chose the food which was wonderful, naan bread with a series of dips, lamb chops, fish, shrimps..fantastic bottle of wine. I will definitely be back!

Much like it’s sister, FISHING WITH DYNAMITE, this should be top on your list. Amazing dinner, cool vibe. Go and thank me later!

I had the pleasure of dining at MB Post this past Sunday evening, as part of an event hosted by the local Rotary Club. There were around 50 people in attendance and there was a set menu due to the amount of people. As a Vegan, I found my options to be limited and one of the other members in the party casually mentioned to one of the servers that I was Vegan and could they do anything to accommodate my dietary restriction. The server returned shortly thereafter and let me know that they would accommodate my request by BRINGING A VEGAN DISH FOR THEIR SISTER RESTAURANT, THE ARTHUR J. After a relatively short wait I was presented with one of the most stunning presentations of a cauliflower that I have ever seen. It tasted as good as it looked. Rarely have I ever experienced this type of personal service....and especially when a part of larger group. BRAVE MB POST! I'll be back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dining experience, but be ready for LA and MB (Manhattan Beach) pricing.
This is a very nice, fun and upscale dining experience. The vibe is all about “shareables”, meat/cheese boards, and breads/small plates. Come with friends you want to “share” dinner with as this is meant for plate sharing. Ok, that is 1/2 the menu. The other 1/2 is a pull page of beer, wine, cocktails, and Coffee/tea/soda. Service is great. Prices are pretty high, but it’s LA, and you are in Manhattan Beach, so what else would you expect! Start with the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits because they are great and fill you up a bit, then try the amazing blistering blue lake green beans that are sweet and spicy with some pork (trust me, you will like them). Then move on to the other eclectic options like pork al’ arrabbiata spaghetti and grilled skirt steak. We had all of the above and all were great. VictorB

feast: an elaborate abundant meal. abundance profusion I snorted water in laughter when the "Feast" platter was placed before us. We opted for the large board, thinking we would share it for our main meal, but were still hungry. Who serves two two--inch rectangles of cheese as one of the main parts of a "feast"? Manhattan Beach Post does. The duck rillette and wild boar terrine were described as being made with "big, bold flavors", but were lacking any seasoning and left me wanting salt and pepper shakers. There was nothing "bold" about either dish. The ambiance was great, busy and full and loud, and the service was wonderful.

So happy that we found this restaurant; we were last minute looking for a restaurant to spend Christmas Eve together. MB Post was fully booked but manager Dave fixed us a table for 11 people (!!).
The food was great and the service even better; free extra portion of the grilled hanger steak that we could share, coffee on the house and the possibility to pay separately as we are colleagues.
Thank you so much for the great evening and nice food MB Post!!

We came in for a last minute Christmas diner. The staff made us feel very welcome and did there very best for us. The food was great and we had a wonderful time. Complimentary coffee was a very nice gesture! Sure to come back!

We had our Christmas dinner here, together with colleagues.
It was a last minute reservation, we were hopelessly trying to find a nice restaurant, when we thought we couldn’t find anywhere a table for 11 people this place popped up and the owner made it possible arranging a table for us: that’s seriously priceless.
The guy who served our table was extremely welcoming and friendly, as the rest of the team.
The wine we choose was a Sauvignon from New Zealand: fruity and delicate.
The menù itself had the right amount of choices, but it was difficult anyway picking up a dish because everything sounded delicious.
As starter ordered the chicken liver patè bruschetta (which I literally loved!), and the peas shortbreads (loved the combination with dill!!).
As main course I had mussels Thai style, a dish that definetely made my evening: I seriously loved the combination of mussels and green curry.
My boyfriend, as well as many of my colleagues, ordered the steak with broccolini: the meat was tender and juicy (I won’t forget to mention that we received a completely free extra portion of steak to share, how lovely!).
Our dessert was a an apple pie/crumble delicious as your grandma would make it!
Thanks so much!
Definetely coming back here when again in LA!
Wonderful experience
Even though the restaurant was fully booked the restaurant owner made a spot outside for our group of 10. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. I’ve had the pea’s shortbread as a starter and the steak for the main course, both where delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I had a great experience eating here on christmas eve! We were sitting outside but the heaters made it very pleasant.
The staff is great, we were with a group of 10 and they took the time for everyone, even waited patiently because some of my group were still in discuss about which wine to order. I told the waiter about my nut allergy and they made sure my plate and food did not consist or touch any nuts. The food was absolutly delicious!
Thank you Manhattan Beach Post for making sure we could have a christmas evening when every other restaurant didn't want to sit a group of 10. We are airline crew far away from home and appreciate all the efforts that you made!
Disappoining
Strange menu with a lot of pork, small high prized portions, famous biscuits were awful as an appetizer. Sitting outside on Christmas eve with no atmosphere. Bad functioning heaters and christmas lights not working (i asked 3 times to put them on). Waiter did a good job with seperatechecks for 10 people,

Came here on a Friday night as a walk-in around 7:30pm and got seated at the bar after a 2 minute wait. They do take reservations. Street parking is available though you’ll probably have more luck parking further. Bathrooms are available by the bar. Credit cards are accepted. Indoor and outdoor dining was available.
Everyone told me to get the bacon cheddar cheese biscuits, and I’d agree that they’re the standout dish of the night. They came two to an order with a sweet butter on the side. The salmon tikka masala tasted a bit licorice-y to me, so I would steer away from that dish, unless you like that flavor profile. The ricotta tortellini was plump but also had a strong ginger taste in some of them. For me personally, I’m cool with ginger but it was a bit of surprise since it wasn’t listed as an ingredient on the menu.
Great Food!
I had a great dinner at Manhattan Beach Post with my family when we were in LA visiting my brother. I am a big fan of small plates and sharables because I can taste a bit of everything but I did hoard (with my family's blessing) the potato gnocchi because it was so delicious and I love pasta more than I love some relatives. Other highlights included the hot fried chicken, everything spiced soft pretzel, the french fries, and pork all' arrabbiata spaghetti. There was something for everyone and we all really enjoyed our meal.
The servers were friendly but not very receptive to questions about the food. We had to do some figuring out of some stuff ourself which was fine. The seats are not comfortable, there is not one comfortable seat in this restaurant - just something to keep in mind if you are with older people or anyone with a bad back. It was also pretty dark inside. The design is more aesthetic than functional.
It's a great spot to go with a date or your friends. My family had a great time but that depends on your family and their ages and tastes. I do recommend stopping by if you're in the area or the menu looks good to you! The food was great and I had a good night but I don't think I would go out of my way to go back.
The Adventure Buddies goes to Post
The Adventure Buddies goes to Post with friends and had a great time but it was tough to get a good vegan meal. The menu has some great options but a bit challenging if you have diet restrictions. Be sure to tell the server and the chef will make some recommendations. The ambience is nice, the biscuits are great, and it’s in the heart of town.
