A few things I wasn't extremely fond of... the concierge recommended very commercial places which I was very clear I did not want to explore, so that was disappointing. Also, the hotel is very nice but our room that had a balcony, faced a school yard which had children playing at all hours in the morning and in the afternoon. If you wanted to sleep in, forget about it. The noise woke you up. The brunch that was offered was exceptional. They had an assortment of various different foods which was lovely. The service was spectacular.However, they had a private party on the rooftop one evening that my husband and I chose to go view the sunset. We were promptly asked to leave and embarrassed in front of all the people at the party. As guests staying at the hotel, I find this very inexcusable. The manager was also extremely rude to us. I would never return to this hotel. Although there are lovely aspects to this place the negative far outweighed the positive. Unfortunately for us, we will not return here.

I am a frequent patron of mandarin oriental either as their hotel guest or restaurant guest in Asia and United States for years. I have always been extremely happy with their services until today at Mandarin Oriental Barcelona. I am so offended by the treatment I had today when I tried to get lunch at their restaurant blanc (Saturday) We were told we can't get in because we didn't have a reservation when the restaurant was 2/3 empty. And the couples before us got in without any problem. What's worse is when we asked whether we can reserve for later times , the host told us dismissively that they are not taking any more reservations today. His tone was dismissive and arrogant. We still can't figure out why his attitude was so off putting. I hope it is not racist. ( we are Asians ). I felt like Michele Yeoh at the beginning of Crazy Rich Asian movie when she was told there were no room available because she was asian. But this is an Asia based hotel! I would not recommend this hotel unless you want to be treated by snobby people with unacceptable and rude customer service. I like nice things in life but I would never want to be in a pretentious environment with no soul. I hope other mandarin properties don't turn into this property.

We loved our stay at MO and cannot wait to stay there again in 2 weeks. David, the concierge, was amazing! When he found out it was my bday, he had our room decorated along with champagne and sweet cake! Thank you David!The breakfast buffet was wonderful as well...tons of fresh fruit!

I'm a big fan of Mandarin Oriental and ultimately this one was a disappointment. The good: the room was amazing, the service was incredible, the location is great especially if you like shopping. The spa was incredible, 100% top notch. It really made my stay great and was the highlight of the hotel. You do not need to stay at the hotel to go enjoy the spa. The steam room is cool and unique and the indoor pool is fun. The bad: the entire building was WAY over scented to the point of being offensive, it smelled like perfumes and incense were being constantly applied to all the lobby and hall areas (thankfully not in the room itself). The rooftop pool area was a major disappointment. The dipping pool was ice cold and the vegetation completely blocked the beautiful view you would expect from a rooftop pool area. The fitness center had nice equipment but was very small.Unfortunately I cannot review the restaurant 'Blanc' separately. We came here expecting a 'Michelin experience' since they so heavily market it as the same chef as the restaurant moments, but honestly this was some of the worst food we had in Barcelona. I'd recommend heading down the street for some Tapas instead. The bread tasted stale, the fish was a bit tough and lacked flavor, the dessert was the best part but was something you could get at any bakery across the city.

Great view and the music at the rooftop was amazing.one little thing; 7€ for a coke ?! 20€ for a cocktail in a plastic cup ?! Also the cocktails were more expensive then other alcohol. But still a great experience !

There are many more spots in Barcelona with better views and pool (Hotel Arts)! Disingenuous staff with pricing that will make your eyes roll. Cocktails are more expensive than bottles of wine and a lackluster pool. Location is terrible for a Luxury resort not on the sea and all you breathe is exhaust. The bar staff didn't even have a blender in a 5 Star - #avoid.

No surprise that Mandarin gets five stars but it really impressed me with the service. I emailed to see if I could check in earlier than noon, and Mr Tanase from reservations invited us to come and have the breakfast for free while waiting for the room if not available on arrival. Mind you this is not a typical hotel breakfast. It's anything off the menu or the excellent buffet with any drink and Cafe around $100 for two. So we have breakfast and at 11;30 get escorted to the room which was upgraded too. We moved to the Grand hotel central near the Latin quarters the next day but my wife left her scarf in the room. She called over and the lady in the phone ran up to the room right away and found it and sent it to our hotel by taxi. Only disappointment was the dinner at Michelin two star moments which I review separately. Just book dinner at Lesarte and stay here if you want the best of Barcelona.

..It took a REALLY long time for them to bring up our luggage. We actually had to call down and ask where our bags were. Compare this to Park Hyatt Paris Vendome where the bellman with our bags was waiting for us in front of our room! Magic vs. SLOW.We called to speak with the concierge from our room. Told he was "busy" and would call us back. No call back.Staff are all friendly but lacked professionalism.PROS:Great central downtown location, Manolo Blahnik boutique, pretty good breakfast buffet. We loved our outdoor patio but didn't get much use of it.
