UPDATED: Our stay at the Commodore Perry was the most disappointing "luxury" hotel experience we've ever had. I had hesitated to post a review, preferring to share our views privately with Auberge Resorts. But Auberge Resorts never even acknowledged our feedback. So, we'll share it here in the hope someone in management sees it. For one of the most expensive hotel stays in Austin (around $900/night for our lower-end room), we found nothing to justify the cost. Our room lacked basic thought and comfort, omitting even bedside electric outlets. The rest of the amenities were what you'd find at a JW Marriott for less than half the price. The tile-floor hallways contribute to a lot of noise. The food was likewise mediocre and thoroughly forgettable. In fairness, the property's restaurant is not yet open. Also in fairness, the hotel (like all others) is operating under pandemic conditions. On the positive side, the property is beautiful. The restoration and additions to the property are gorgeous and great care obviously was taken to appeal to the eyes. As a venue for a wedding or a similar event, it's probably an excellent option. And we certainly want CPE to succeed. The area of Austin where it's located benefits from a high-end hotel, convenient to nearly everything in Austin that you'd want to visit. Unfortunately, CPE's reach exceeds its grasp--at least for now. We have been fortunate to have had some truly superlative hotel experiences at places run by Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, and Peninsula, among others, at similar price points. Unfortunately, this Auberge resort property is nothing like them. We'd wait a long time before staying here again. UPDATE: Management (Mario Bustamante) invited a call to address our inexcusably disappointing experience. After taking the time to call and address the issues that made our stay so disappointing, he ultimately offered to provide a gift certificate for another 2-night stay--hopeful that with more time after the opening, the property would deliver on its price point. But despite our follow up, the promised 2-night gift certificate never arrived. We can therefore also share that the "customer service" at the Commodore Perry was as disappointing at the hotel itself, and that's probably not an accident. With all the other wonderful hotel options in Austin today, this one should be last on your list.
