I really recommend this place! Hands down, the best lasagna I've ever eaten in DC! So, it's real, "the Italians are here"

Our waiter was very attentive and helpful! And we were able to make a reservation day of which was nice. The decor of the restaurant was cute. Food was decent- the burrata was our favorite and flavors were great. The bread was pretty good too. However, pasta was only ok for both fettuccine alla norcina and squid ink pasta. Probably would not order fettuccine again. And my boyfriend wants to add that he was still hungry after

It was an amazing experience! The pasta tasted fresh and each one of my family member's dishes were packed with flavor. The restaurant had an authentic and rustic Italian feel and staff made me feel at home with exceptional service. I really enjoyed my Paccheri Al Frutti Di Mare as it was packed with seafood and had a rich garlicy tomato sauce. The ambiance was perfect and I will definitely be returning there!

I went here maybe two years ago and remember thinking it was phenomenal - flash forward to now and the quality has certainly gotten much cheaper, yet the prices have sky rocketed. $35 for a heated up, frozen pasta dish. The service was good and the ambiance is basically the only reason to go back. Such a fun place to sit and chat with friends! I probably won't be going back because of how expensive the food was for how poor the quality was.

..I don't want to generalize. Buuuuuut when I decide that I want to go to an Italian restaurant, I usually show up hungry because Italian restaurants are known for filling bellies. On that score, Lupo Verde disappoints. Though the food tasted great, my entrée felt like an appetizer. The experience was over almost as soon as it began. That combined with the price point ($28 for a pasta that barely filled the saucer it was served on) makes this place a no go for me in the future. That aside, the service was average and the ambiance was loud and lively, not my thing but no points lost as it's its in a loud and lively part of town.

We came here before Christmas and it was absolutely FABULOUS. Here are my pros and cons: (+) PROS: I can't speak highly enough of the food and the cocktails - some of the best I've had in DC! I ordered a chocolate old fashioned, which was exquisite, as well as the mussels. My friends ordered a fantastic espresso martini, aperol spritz, and lemon cocktail (I'm forgetting the name!), and some really fantastic pasta. The pasta dish that really blew us away included truffles and nuts. SPECTACULAR. The ambiance was also fantastic. It would be great for a family meal, an evening with friends, or a romantic date. The service was also excellent; it was quick and speedy! (-) CONS: This is rare for me, but truly nothing. Go visit!

I came here for a work dinner, but arrived earlier then expected. We sat at the bar for a bit and the bartender was friendly and engaged in great conversation. I originally tried the pepino and it was a delightful cocktail. We also ordered the artichokes and they were very large and crispy. I really enjoyed this dish. My entree was the gnocchi with truffle sauce. It came out with a heavy cream sauce that was delicious. The gnocchi was a tad over cooked, but nothing to complain about. The restaurant is small, but it is DC after all. I really liked the environment and the food was outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyAn excellent experience overall.
I was a bit skeptical at first since we were seated outdoors along the street and missed out on the ambiance of the older indoor decor, but the wait staff and the food compensated sufficiently. The pasta is handcrafted, the oysters delicious, the charcuterie board a delight and the hazelnut desert with Nutella was a dream! Our service was impeccable and left me wanting more!

I came to read the alchemist have a glass of Chianti and eat some Carpaccio! Lupo did not disappoint. I asked for extra lemon and stayed for an hour! Best solo date ever :)

Rashard did an amazing job explaining the menu and his energy brightened our night!

Came here for the first time after looking for a highly rated Italian restaurant. Service was amazing. The food overall was good and I would certainly come back. I order the shrimp and calamari appetizer which was quite yummy and a much bigger portion than I expected. I also ordered the seafood pasta for my main. It was full of mussels, clams and shrimp but it lack flavor. I tried to add a little salt - which is rare that I do at a restaurant these days. But even salt couldn't help. I ended up sending it back and opted for the smoked salmon gnocchi. It was really goodl. But I will warn you that it has an extreme smoked salmon flavor which might be too much for most people.

I also always get the bolognese lol. The service is great with a cozy feel. The burrata is delicious with very cute little bread sticks

Came here for dinner with a friend recently and had a decent experience. Nothing really knocked my socks off, but it was enjoyable. We sat outside on the patio, which was nice bc the weather was nice, but we were definitely packed in very tightly. The service was friendly but brusque and not super attentive. I had to flag people down to have my water refilled multiple times. We started with the burrata al tartufo with truffled burrata, rapini, caponata, and toast points. It was definitely my favorite thing we got. I loved how all the flavors really harmonized with each other, and it was really delightful. Must order! We also split an order of the fritto misto, which is pretty huge portion-wise. I would recommend getting this with groups of 3+ unless you can really house a lot of calamari. The calamari itself was a bit too thick and on the chewier side than I prefer, but i really appreciated that the breading was nice and light. I would've liked more of the prawns, but they were very hard to eat as they still had the shell on and were very hot and messy to have to handle with your bare hands. For my entree, I got the Pesto Gnocchi which was a lot more oily than i was expecting. The gnocchi itself was nice and pillowy, and I liked the crispy pancetta on top. My friend got the Ravioli with a pink vodka sauce, and it was tasty, but very small portions (I think there were only like 4 ravioli on the plate). All in all, it was a fine experience

FOOD: This place served hands down the best pasta I have ever eaten in my life. I ordered the Tagliolini Alla Pescatora, which had a lot of seafood (shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari). It was $38, but it was well worth the meal- I ate all of it! The pasta was freshly made, perfectly cooked, and the sauce was well seasoned. I always worry that there will be a little bit of seafood given in seafood dishes, but Lupo Verde did not play! The proportion of pasta to seafood was perfect! There was an abundant amount of seafood. My friend also ordered the Ravioli All Emiliana and we both loved that as well. This dish looked like it was a small portion on the plate, but it was super filling! It was hearty, savory, and cheesy- cooked to perfection. Overall, the pasta is what I imagine authentic pasta to taste like haha. We each got drinks. I got the Apirtini, which was beautiful, yummy, and slightly sweet. I enjoyed it!We also ended off with the Lupomisu'. We enjoyed it and it was free for us, however, I do want to note that it seemed like there was only one layer of ladyfingers in it, so the proportion of cream to lady fingers was like 2:1. Regardless, the tiramisu cream was still tasteful- not too sweet, and still enjoyable!SERVICE: Enough about me raving about the food. The service is REALLY what awed me about this restaurant. It was my friend's birthday, and the staff went above and beyond in treating her tonight. They surprised us with the Lupomisu' in a pot with a plant and candle and half a shot each (a shot in total) all free of charge! We were beyond stunned at the amazing service. The food on its own was enough to make me come back a second time, but the service was really what caused me to make sure I recommend this place to other people!ATMOSPHERE: We walked-in around nine-thirty with no reservation. We were lucky- usually before 9:00 you need a reservation. The restaurant was half-full, and they sat us on the first floor. Italian music was playing on the speakers, and the overall environment seemed joyful. The decoration was also beautiful and cultural. There was dim lighting which really added to the atmosphere.TIPS: If planning to go before 9:00, RSVP!SCORE: 5/5. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! The food made it 5 stars, but the service, again, made this place go above and beyond.

Wow. I know there are plenty of places to have brunch in DC however I strongly recommend that Lupo Verde is on your list. Recommended by a friend, we did the social brunch and had an amazing meal. The pasta is handmade and comes in generous servings. We will be back!

Great service from Rashard. Highly recommend.

Terrible customer service and we didn't even get to eat!Made a reservation for 10:30am for 4 people. It was my first time traveling into the city to check out Lupo Verde. The website, Google business page and yelp all had 10:30am as its opening time. As we walked in, the bartender stated that "we open at 11am" I asked kindly if we could wait indoors because it was raining until 11am (even though we had a 10:30am reservation) they said no- and that is the first and last time I'll ever visit this establishment.

This is my fourth time in this restaurant but after the third time, it was a huge vibe changer. I met my new favorite bartender, Rashard, and I don't plan on cheating on him. From his welcoming personality and charisma, he made my experience better than the ones prior to meeting him!!! He recommended for me to eat the linguine all'astice...it exceeded my expectations. Do yourself a favor and come to one of the best and few authentic Italian restaurants in DC. You won't be disappointed at all! ;)
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service and experience.
We were seated outside in below freezing temps and had to ask to switch seats to be near a heater. They tried to patch their tent up with cardboard, which fell ONTO OUR TABLE during the meal. Our waiter laughed at us and the manager tried to give us the runaround when we told her how unhappy we were. All that for subpar food that was extremely overpriced. Save yourself the trouble and the expense and go literally anywhere else.

Some delicious Italian food from the Michelin List! Beautiful (although cramped) space with delicious and very authentic food. Highly recommend the sausage risotto!
Be the first to ReplyI think they are a solid 3.
5 stars, since Yelp has no half, I resorted to a 4. 1. Reservation: necessary 2. Ambience: very dark, funny bar/beer smell indoors, even their outside seating is super dark. Not my favorite 3. Drinks: 3.5 stars. not good, not bad Sinatra was much fruitier than I thought it would be Negroni: was strong 4. Food: 3.5 starsBolognese: very good, delicious Pappardelle: was okay, too much oil, especially just having arrived back from Europe, it was not right octopus: light and refreshing veal: not good In short, some food is good and some not. 5. Service: 3.5 stars good but there's a fine balance between attentive versus overly present. I was annoyed how I had to report to him not once but several times on how the food, the drink or the dessert was. I like it when I get what I need and be left alone. It was getting super annoying towards the end as I will have talked with him 15+ times at that point All in all, I think this place is known for the pasta and if you want good pasta with similar price range, I'd say go to Fiola mare or Clarity which has better tasting pasta, service and most importantly view
