Lola 55 San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
I was in town for a conference and my uber driver
I was in town for a conference and my uber driver recommended checking out Lola 55 and I'm glad I did. Their ordering process was easy and the food came out promptly. The prices were pretty fair for what you get. I tried their steak and pork belly tacos. They had run out of their baja fish taco and I regret not being able to try that one. The textures of both of the tacos were great and the tastes and heat were well balanced. Lola 55 is worth a visit.
We were pleasantly surprised on our visit here! We stopped
We were pleasantly surprised on our visit here! We stopped here for lunch before our flight home and were glad we did. We take our authentic Mexican food very seriously so we were a little cautious about a place that seemed maybe a little more mainstream, but once we saw them making fresh tortillas we knew we had to try it. With that said, we loved the spin on the tacos. They were fresh and generous in portion, especially for the price in the area. The frijoles peruanos (my favorite bean) were bomb, and we left with satisfied bellies. Would definitely recommend for a quick stop!
I dined in for lunch here.
I was little thrown off when entering, not knowing where to order. The ambience is sort of odd. The restaurant had a weird mix of furniture. There's some really nice upscale looking seating/couches mixed with fast food restaurant style tables. I think they did that maybe to emphasize the bar area, but thats 50% of their space so it was a little confusing as i walked in. I couldn't tell if this was the type of place where you are seated and order with a waiter. Not knowing if I should sit down to order, the bartender saw us and let us know we order with her. We ordered and were given a number to place on whatever table we chose to eat. At this point I realized it's not a sit down and you have a waiter kind of place. You grab your own utensils and water cups. The food came out one item at a time mostly, but I must say I was very impressed by their tacos. I'm Mexican and always expect the worst when tacos are served up looking elevated or upscale. My initial thought was "hm, fancy...no side of salsa? No Salsa bar? WTH." Then I took a bite and it was perfect! There was no need for a salsa bar. Each taco i ate, I was more than satisfied with exactly how it was served. I had several tacos, both meat and vegan, and all were great. I'd definitely come back again.
Super tasty, vegan and modern
Super tasty, beautifully presented, vegan options and really not too expensive. I'm delighted. The atmosphere of a fast-food restaurant makes it young, modern and not too pretentious despite the top quality.
These are some delicious gourmet tacos.
I love this place such great food. They also have a killer caesar salad.

Great taste in a fun atmosphere.
The Service/Staff were nice, helpful, and friendly.

We came here for lunch and was like extremely impressed! We got here around 11:30 and right away they had a line of people but the service was great regardless. As far as drinks we got margaritas and their seasonal Agua fresca which was pineapple lime, both were some of the best we ever had. For food we decided to get sides of rice and masa fritas. the rice was our favorite by far it was quite incredible. For tacos we got steak, pork belly, chicken, carnitas, Baja fish and squashroom. we absolutely loved the steak, carnitas, pork belly and fish the flavor on all of these was incredible and each one was extremely unique. The rest were also very good and we noticed lots of vegan options for people. I would recommend this place to anyone!
This place has been on my list for a while and it didn't
This place has been on my list for a while and it didn't disappoint! We came on a Saturday at noon and it wasn't busy at all. A good amount of street parking around the area as well. The inside is super open and airy. You order at the counter, get a number and seat yourself. We got the cauliflower, fish, pork belly, carnitas and chicken and taco. I'd say you should order three tacos to be satisfied and four if you're really hungry. They don't skimp on the protein which is nice. You can really tell the quality of each of the ingredients in the tacos. A good variety of flavors and textures. Top tacos were the cauliflower and the chicken. The cauliflower was charred so well and the raisins added a subtle sweetness with crunch from the almonds. The chicken flavor had so much depth and was really well seasoned without being overly salty. My partner said he'd just order three of the chicken tacos the next time we come. Service was pretty quick except for the churros. Our friends ordered it with their meal but it didn't come out till the end and we actually had to check in on it.
First time checking out Lola 55.
There was no wait but it was a rainy day so not sure if that's the norm or not. It's a very casual taco spot but the food was amazing! I got carnitas, pork belly and chicken tacos. All the ingredients were very fresh (you can see them make the tortillas!) . The flavors were well balanced. The star had the chicken tacos! It had smokiness and a good amount of acidity and spice. The chicken was tender and juicy! Next time I'll probably just get 3 chicken tacos haha. Highly recommend. We didn't try the cocktails but they did look delicious.

You walk in and get greeted by the bartender who will also take your food order. We were happily greeted by Watson. I have to say- whatever you're paying him, double it! He set the tone for the experience and honestly it wouldn't be the same without him. (he also made some amazing drinks!) Secondly, I have never had a culinary experience as amazing as this. Maybe me and my wife don't get out as much as we should, but I ordered basically one of everything on the menu, and OH MY. After every bite we looked at each other with wide eyes of astonishment. There wasn't a single thing we didn't like. I will say the steak tacos and baja tacos were my favorite, I had to go back up and order another round of them. This place is a must-go. I can't believe we've lived here for five years and this was our first time. We'll definitely be back.
Creatively styled lighting gives way for brightly colored
Creatively styled lighting gives way for brightly colored furnishings and tables setting the stage for the stylish tacos served here. Walking inside I was greeted at the front desk and ordered my food there. Each taco is around $5 which is an amazing price for what you are given. The man taking my order recommended three tacos per person, I ordered according to his recommendations which were the squa-shroom, smoked carnitas, and baja style fish. The squa-shroom was a creative blend of ingredients which paired well, but the smoked carnitas was the highlight of the meal and had a memorable, unique taste which did not overshadow the stunning carnitas. The baja style fish was fresh and delightful. For dessert the churros were a generous serving of eight mini churros. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside which stood well when eaten alone but a match made in heaven alongside the cajeta sauce. When eating here a safe bet is three tacos per person but one could happily fit four if running on an empty stomach. 5/5

I went in during happy hour on a Sunday afternoon and it was nice as it wasn't packed and we had prompt service. I ordered a few tacos and thought they were great. I loved that they had vegan options as it's nice for non meat eaters.

Yummy food & cute interior + small exterior space! We went for lunch and it was quite empty on a nice sunny day. Ordering was casual and quick right at the counter, and they had put a table together for us. I like that there are couches as well as tables. I got the cauliflower taco which was unique and absolutely flavor packed. It was sweet, savory, and smokey all at the same time. The "eggplant bacon" was a little unnecessary as it was a bit too chewy and did not add much. That being said, it was a great taco and i would definitely order it again. Unfortunately they were out of the mushroom taco which i would love to try next time. As a vegetarian, i wasn't able to eat their beans since they are made of pork. It was sad to not have any protein options as a vegetarian. I also got the side of rice (delicious) and caesar salad. The salad was decent, I would skip it unless you wanted some greens on the side.
Have been three times.
We love their take on both food and cocktails. The staff is super friendly. One of our favorite local spots.
You order at the bar, get a number and take a seat.
Had a lunch date and was expecting a crowd but it wasn't packed at all. There was only one lady taking orders and 2 chefs who bring you your food. Took a while to get our food but probably because everything is made fresh. The tortillas were delicious! Not your average corn tortillas. There were a lot of dirty tables so we had to wait until someone cleaned some off to sit. The tacos were different but good. They're priced around $5-$7 a taco which is pricey in my opinion for a small taco. The best tasting food we had was the quesadilla Oaxaca, those were cheesy goodness. They have self serve water station which is nice. PLUS they were out of Elote which was something I really wanted to try. It was labeled on their menu that they didn't have Elote, so I'm not sure if it was for that day or forever. Bottom line-I'm glad I tried it but there are plenty of other good tasting taco places in San Diego for a better price.

Been going here for years now and let me say, it NEVER MISSES. It's so insanely delicious everytime. My favorite is the Oaxaca chicken quesadilla and all Their tacos are amazing . The play on textures and flavors each dish brings is amazing. I recommend this 10/10
Love this place! Delicious tacos and tasty drinks.
The atmosphere was so cool and the service was great! We ordered the margaritas, fried fish tacos, steak , and pork belly tacos, am already ready to go back for more!
Sooo good.
Steak and fish are my favorite. Might be my favorite taco place in san Diego.

Ordené el pozole verde y en su página no especifica el tamaño y cuando lo recogí me di cuenta que es súper pequeño y a lo mucho 5 granos y unos cuantos pedazos de pollo era más caldo que nada.
Worth the Michelin distinction
A nitty gritty restaurant that employs high quality ingredients, prepares everything at the moment and makes almost everything in house (including tacos and tortillas). What else can I say: come here and you will eat excellent and healthy food.
Make no excuse - go!
Famous for their fish taco, beating out Bobby Flay. Establishment has earned Michelin recognition in 2019, 2021, 2922 and 2023. Oaxaca inspired food. Spunky Noel took our requests. We enjoyed three tacos types: - fish - battered over a light cream sauce - carnitas - succulent fatty just nicely cooked pork with pickled tomatillo slices atop - mesquite chicken - delicately roasted chicken Not to forget a plate of 3 quesadillas with a magnificent morita sauce (dark and rich) And chipotle rice. Tortillas are fresh, made on the premises (albeit machine made). Beer selection was limited to 3 on draft. Interesting mix of clientele. Clean and well lit place. Will definitely seek out on next visit.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
