Yes, get the roast chicken
Great meal at Le Bistro de L'Hotel. Like many others, we went for the roast chicken for two and were not disappointed. Terrific meal, great service, and comfortable dining. We hope to return in the future.

This was the best chicken of my life. Now to quantify I have had the chicken at Bocuse, George Blanc you name it. This was the to die for chicken. Not just the bird itself as Bresse yes. But the technique to roast was superb. High heat 410 or 210C WITH CONVECTION SO ACTUALLY HOTTER. Just Fleur de sel and chicken fat or schmaltz to start. Turned every 10 minutes with a bastes. Plus a few nice appetizers and good wine. A great night.

What a surprise! Amazing dinner, perfect service, high quality food. We sat outside in the courtyard which was relaxed and comfortable. Great Wine list of varied selections. In our 2+ week trip to France visit, this was the best of the dinners we had. (we ate at other 2 x Michelin star restaurants that were not as good). Absolutely, a must go. (it was recommended by our hotel le Cep). Side bonus, they were the only place that made a proper Rye Manhattan cocktail.

Beautiful location. Excellent service. However the food is a real disappointment. I had the menu degustation. Every course was at best average or poor. It seems to cater to rich tourists who want to be reassured that it is expensive and not very adventurous. The more I reflect on the meal, the more disappointing it is. The tuna dish was poor, the tuna was not good quality and the sauce too strong/overpowering. The white asparagus was almost impossible to cut and too chewy. The chicken was fine but the sides (potatoes and veg) was boring and pedestrian. The cheeses were mediocre. The desert was far too sweet. The wine was unsurprisingly very good (a Chablis).

We arrived in Beaune late afternoon on our way back from our trip to Mallorca. My husband wanted to wine shop! We booked a very lovely hotel just on the parameters of Beaune. Wine shop done. Quick shower and I fancied a cocktail. Googled best cocktails in Beaune. Got a taxi to the ' Anerican bar' the start of a fabulous gastronomic evening. Cosmopolitan was delicious. Stayed for dinner at the Hotels restaurant, Bistro De L'Hotel...fabulous food.. Fois gras and their signature chicken. All incredible. Service & attention to detail high level. Beaune is truly beautiful and so is this bar and restaurant. We will without a doubt return. Highly recommended. Thank you to the lovely bartender and to the sommelier. A special thanks to Barthelemy du Peloux. See you all sooner rather than later! XxxX

We always stop in Beaune on our way to Provence. We really look forward to our evening at the bistro …. Probably my favourite restaurant anywhere…. If it’s on the menu, try the Dover Sole, if not, call in advance and ask for it…. You won’t regret it. For the wine, unless you are in the business… ask the sommelier… If you are staying at the hotel it’s a 5 mt walk , we sometimes stay 200 mts away at the Ramparts … both are good. Could not recommend this restaurant highly enough…. Only Pere Bis comes a close second

Our visit to Le Bistro de L'Hotel left us with a lot to unpack. It was a full on sensory experience, and very French. It was one of the most expensive meals that I have paid for in recent years, but it was certainly worth it. We were staying with L'Hotel de Beaune (upstairs from the bistro in fact). We were disappointed that we could not eat outside, but understood the policy of the restaurant: they either seat everyone inside or everyone outside. The waiter explained to me that they had more reservations than they could accommodate outside, so they had to bring everyone inside. Fair enough. We did get started on the wrong foot, and my mind instantly went back to the bombshell review that I had read here (the guy who got in a verbal altercation with the restaurant personnel about his table that resulted in him being kicked out of the hotel), and I could now understand how that could happen. I asked whether I could substitute for the appetizer on the three course menu (I don't like salmon), and was told flatly by our waiter that it was not possible. I then felt rather intimidated by not one but two waiters hovering over us asking us multiple times if we were ready to order. Our reservation was for 8pm and we were far from the last table seated. I needed more time to look through the thousands of wines on the wine list and figure out what to do about my order. My wife was successful at asking another waiter if I could have a simple salad instead of the salmon (which was also on the menu), so she saved the day. After that we worked hard to win back the favor of the waiters and things went better from there. After the initial tension, the service was fantastic and we felt well cared for. The salad was fantastic, and the Poulet de Bresse lived up to the hype that surrounds it. It was moist, buttery goodness that I can still taste as I write this! The pureed potatoes were creamy and very tasty. I loved the fact that they carved it table side. We also loved the Crepes Suzette and the way that this was prepared table side. The young American waiter who prepared it for us was fantastic and helpful. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I would definitely save my money to afford it again!
Be the first to ReplyIf you eat only one chicken in your life, eat here
We booked this because it was open on a Monday and because Poulet de Bresse is a famous weakness of mine but boy, this is beyond worth a visit. The courtyard is idyllic, the service excellent, the wine list absurdly good and the chicken is out of this world good (as it should be I guess for €120 for the Poularde to share!... Still good value in my opinion). I don't know why it doesn't have it but this is a solid one star restaurant and if you love good food and wine you can't miss it.

Six of us sat outside and enjoyed an amazing dinner. Great food (the chicken was a big hit and comes with a bunch of sides.. don't miss the fries). The staff was amazing, fun and very professional. The wine list is stellar. We all ate too much and enjoyed every minute.

Love this place - pricey but completely worth it. The famous chicken is delicious. We will be back next year!
Be the first to ReplyOur Place for Poulet de Bresse in Beaune
Traditional food in the center of Beaune. Limited choice on the menu. A whole crispy, juicy Poulet de Bresse is what many people order here. The price is quite steep but most diners seem to think it is worth the money. French fries and cooked hearts of artichokes Roman style are a good choice to have as a side dish. Charming service by the young lady who has worked here for years. Pleasant outdoor seating in the Summer.
Be the first to ReplyGood simple food; Good service in a lovely court yard
Given that Beaune can be a bit overrun by tourists, the quiet restaurant and court yard is lovely; Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Wine recommendations excellent and not excessive in terms of pricing.
