La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, St Martin Lowlands Reviews from The Last Year
Annual Anniversary Trip
Having just returned from our annual trip to La Samanna to celebrate our wedding anniversary my wife and I are already looking forward to next years trip. La Samanna is truly a wonderful and relaxing place to visit. Eleanore and her staff make sure everything is perfect for each and every guest that is there. The attention to detail, service, and friendliness is at the highest level. If you choose to spend time at this beautiful Caribbean resort you will not be disappointed. Thank you to the entire staff for always making our visit a memorable experience. See you next year
A step above...
We just spent our 12th wedding Anniversary and Birthdays at this property, our first Belmond, and it was truly as good as it gets. The staff is warm and genuine, gets to know you, and provides personal service; you’re not just “another guest.” The property sits right on the bay, so no rooms are that far from the beach unless you're staying in a villa, and then you’re perched on a cliff with your own pool, but it's a short walk. Properties in the Caribbean will never look “like new” unless they just opened yesterday because of the harsh weather, but the maintenance staff should get props for keeping this property looking great. I believe the free-form pool is getting a makeover this year when the resort closes for the season, so it looks “the worst,” if you can even say that. Every drink/cocktail we had at the resort was made quickly and expertly mixed. We’re definitely going to miss those incredible FROSE and ST-GERMAIN SPRITZ; they were just fantastic. They even made the FROSE a little less sweet for me the second day. The food at the restaurants was also top-notch; they really have this figured out! If you can make this resort work on your budget, make it work! It’s worth it. We will be back.
Excellent!!
La Samanna is our favorite hotel! We’ve stayed at this hotel 2x, and would love to come back every year. We traveled here with toddlers and the hotel is very family friendly. The views are breathtaking and the staff is phenomenal! We felt very welcomed! I cannot recommend this hotel enough! You will not regret your visit!
Premier beachfront retreat that epitomizes quiet opulence and timeless luxury.
The dedicated service at this resort is unparalleled. The classic décor and modern-chic amenities of the resort seamlessly blended timeless luxury with contemporary convenience, providing the perfect retreat after a day lounging on the beach. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional culinary offerings. The breakfast buffet was nothing short of extraordinary. Of course, the star of the show was the beach itself. Widely regarded as the best on the island, its powdery white sands and turquoise waters provided an idyllic backdrop for relaxation and recreation. For anyone seeking a truly great beach holiday experience, this classic Belmond resort is undoubtedly one of the best the Caribbean has to offer.
Unmatched service!
Spent Easter weekend here and Everything from A to Z was anticipated - we couldn’t have wanted for more. All the staff members were superb! The food at Spiaggi was amazing and the breakfast at Corail was perfection. Gorgeous views, cold drinks, exceptional food, and big comfy beach chairs = our perfect vacay. Thanks to everyone at La Samanna!
Exceptional Service, Unexceptional Value
We have stayed at a few Belmond properties and have been very impressed with the service, cuisine and ambiance, and La Samanna is no exception. The service is simply outstanding, and we had particularly great service from Nico, Ugo, and Candace (and all the staff at breakfast!) during our stay. Likewise we found the food to be terrific, and saw no need to leave the property during our week long stay. That said, we were disappointed in our visit, and the relationship of what we paid to the value we received. This hotel--now 50 years old--is in desperate need of renovation and refurbishment. Our room--a one bedroom "oceanfront" suite for $2200 a night--was tired, uncomfortably furnished, and while indeed facing the ocean, it was impossible to see from anywhere unless you stood at the window or on the balcony. Among the most irritating things about this hotel is that immediately upon arrival, we were told we were being "upgraded," but truth be told, we were put in an upstairs suite instead of one downstairs, which we thought we booked, with easy access to the beach, and nearly as far away as one could be from the main building of the hotel. We objected to no avail. While golf cart service was prompt, it's still a pain in the neck and so we certainly got our steps in walking to and from the main building, the spa and the gym. As remote as our room was, we still had to go down to the beach every morning and leave a book and a hat on beach chairs in order to be assured of chairs in close proximity to our room. This doesn't seem right at this price point. That said, the beach service, particularly from Nico, is simply extraordinary--you never have to worry about moving your umbrella, having a cold drink, or a fabulous lunch. His absence, however, was felt on his day off. There are two pools at this resort, and both need renovation. The heated pool actually has broken concrete right at the bottom of the entry stairs. The service at the pools is also lovely. Indeed, if service and food are Belmond's signature and brand, they are doing a great job. But if it's a luxury experience, La Samanna falls short. The fitness center is sensational, by the way, and seems the only part of the hotel that has been renovated. State of the art equipment, well air conditioned, water, towels, the works. For beach lovers, the ocean is lovely here, although a bit rough during our stay; clean golden sand and mostly rock free depending on the tides. Too bad that if you are sitting down in your $2200 oceanfront suite, in the bedroom, on the incredibly uncomfortable and small living room sofa or on the balcony, you can only see a white wall in front of you! To be sure, La Samanna is an iconic property, but it needs investment and TLC from Belmond to deliver on their brand promise of luxury.
True Paradise
There are St. Martin beaches and then there is the secluded Baie Longue beach at La Samanna St. Martin. This resort is truly extraordinary! A must for everyone's bucket list who enjoys beachfront resorts.
Beautiful Place
Excellent property in beautiful setting. The property ids beautifully situated on a spectacular beach, with incredible sunsets. The food at La Spiaggia was delicious. The staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. I highly recommend this beautiful property.
Another perfect stay
We just returned from another wonderful stay at La Samanna. We've been visiting for many years and there are lots of other repeat guests as well. The resort is beautiful -- the pools, the rooms, the beach and the landscaping are all extraordinary. The fitness centre is excellent and many people use the tennis courts. In addition to the beauty, a notable part of La Samanna is the fine staff. We were warmly greeted by everyone. The breakfast staff is very attentive and helpful. The breakfasts, overlooking the pool and the beach, offer a wide variety of choices. We also at dinner at La Spiaggia. The dinner was excellent and the Italian staff were charming. La Samanna reflects the outstanding management of Eleanore, the manager. She pays attention to all the details and takes all comments and suggestions from guests seriously. We are looking forward to our return next year.
Perfection exists.
excellent staff. Professional, courteous and kind, across the board from the gardeners to the facility managers. Excellent Italian restaurant, Michele, the chef and all the staff. It's not the first time at Samanna, but I must say that every time it's always a wonderful surprise. This year the added value was certainly Antonio, a wizard of solutions for the most demanding customer. I hope to return for the next few years.
Paradise Found
LaSamanna is an amazing resort with the most beautiful view and friendliest staff in the Caribbean. The beach is flawless and the staff extremely attentive and interested to cater to your needs. We rank this the best resort in the world and will return back every year.
Beautiful resort and a wonderful experience
We just returned from our stay at La Samanna. It was a wonderful experience. The resort has a relaxed yet elegant vibe and while there are a good amount of guests, it was spread out enough that it felt quiet and not crowded. We traveled with our almost 4 year old and knew the resort was kid friendly but not kid-focused. The staff were incredibly warm and went ouf of their way to make our son feel welcome. If you do plan to travel with a toddler, it is a quiet resort, so a child(ren) who are used to being around adults would enjoy it. Breakfast and dinners at the resort are relaxed and quiet so we brought activities to entertain our toddler during meals to ensure that we did not disturb the other guests. During our stay there were a few other families but mostly young or middle aged couples. Beach: It was a wonderful few days of spending time at the beach and in our rooftop plunge pool. The beach is huge and chairs are spread out so you don't feel on top of anyone. We rented a cabana on the beach one day. It was nice to have a place to get out of the sun and relax and eat lunch. The staff set up a few umbrellas so that our son could play on the beach in the shade. We rented paddle boards and ventured around the cove. Note: there are boats that dock in the cove area so it can be a little crowded when doing water activities. Also, party boats do dock on the side of the beach near the cabanas and boat guests swim there/use the beach. It can be loud and take away from the relaxed vibe. The other end of the beach is much quieter. Food: The food is excellent and probably even better when you're not entertaining a toddler during meals. If you dine at L'Oursin you must order Marcel's Egg. Sunset cruise: We took a sunset cruise with our toddler which was great. It is a no frills speed boat that takes you around part of the island during sunset. They had a cooler of drinks, including champagne and beer as well as snacks. The captain did a great job of pointing out areas of the island/explainging the history but also giving us space to enjoy the ride to ourselves. Room: We stayed in a one bedroom suite with a "private" rooftop and plunge pool. The suite was large and they set up a small bed for our toddler. The shower pressure is amazing!! There is a small balcony off of the suite level with chairs. The stairs up to the rooftop are steep and narrow but it wasn't really an issue for us but might be for some. The rooftop is "private" - each building with a rooftop has two rooftops areas separated by a wall. We also had a full view of the rooftop of the neighboring building. From the pictures we assumed each rooftop was completely private and only for one suite. There didn't seem to be anyone staying next to us so we didn't feel self-conscious talking on the roof or letting our toddler have fun playing in the pool. Both the rooftop and balcony faced the ocean and the views were gorgeous. At night, we had drinks on the rooftop under the stars. Only issues: There were a couple of times when we called the front desk for assistance- to help clean up a broken glass in the room, extra pillows, help opening the rooftop umbrealla. They were slow to respond and we had to call a couple of times for someone to come. During the first night it sounded like the neighbors below us were playing music with bass. We thought it might just be normal nosies from the pool pump and couldn't confirm it was the neighbors music but the second two nights were much quieter. Overall we greatly appreciated how warm, welcoming and helpful the staff were. The resort is beautiful, the pictures give an accurate representation. It's the nicest resort on the island so if you're traveling to St. Martin you must stay here!
Our new favorite
During my real life I take care of everyone around me: My ailing mother, kids, and husband, and my run my own business; La Samanna took care of me. The staff was constantly asking what they could do to make my stay more pleasant, and anticipated my needs, often before I knew I had them. The beach is unparalleled in its beauty, and we swam twice a day. The French restaurant is not to be missed. The lunch place had delicious, healthful offerings. Loved the rum sampler at the end of the meal. Antonio and Alexandra at the front desk, Sherlon who gave us our initial tour of the resort and magically showed up at our door on the afternoon of our departure just as I was wondering how to get our bags to the lobby, Sabrina and Tishana at the concierge desk, Janiqua at breakfast, and the excellent staff at the beach (I’m sorry I don’t have their names because they took such good care of us), and Eleonore the general manager, who sent ius cake and champagne for our anniversary. If you want a beautiful resort, spectacular beach, excellent food and indulgent pampering, La Samanna is for you.
Sheer and utter pleasure
Perfect in every way, beginning with a charming breakfast crew (rarer than diamonds), complimentary water coolers at the beach, and what a beach it is! Dinner under the stars (it's a fine mix of Island and French). Lulled to sleep with the sound of gentle waves. A mind, body and soul restoration.
Beautiful Beach, Average Stay
The hotel has a gorgeous view and our room in the main house had a lovely balcony looking out to the ocean, but our overall stay was average. The concierge and hotel staff were very friendly and warm, but seemed a bit short-staffed at times. I understand the hotel was at full capacity, so I am sure things are more manageable in the low season. It seems the hotel predominantly caters to a mature clientele of regularly returning visitors, and I don't think it is the best fit for young professional couples or honeymooners.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
