This restaurant was so beautiful.
From the delicate artful plates to the intricate wallpaper this was such an aesthetically pleasing dining experience. Service was wonderful, very attentive and hardworking. Food was amazing - lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I had the festive vegetarian tasting menu and I enjoyed every plate. Highly recommend if you like Indian food and fine dining.

The restaurant is inside a small house with rooms separated into small dining rooms each with about five tables. Our party had the festive tasting menu as well as the vegetarian tasting menu. We had the wine pairing. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. All of the food was delicious. I would definitely return. The price was reasonable for a Michelin star tasting menu.

This is probably the best meal I had in London and that includes some pretty good meals including one at Dishoom. We took a short shopping date one weekend while we were in London and wound up nearby and hungry and this place popped up although we would have never found it without Yelp. It's a block of the main shopping strip in a row house that you have to ring the bell to get inside. Once inside, we got seated on the terrace, which was lovely and quintessentially London including haven't to step through a (large) window out onto the terrace. The whole experience had the feelings of a very fancy restaurant with the amazing parts of also fantastic Indian food. The service and ambiance was perfect for a date. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The sparkling water sat in a silver dish and somebody refilled our glasses from the bottle at regular intervals. The view from the terrace looked down through a skylight into an elegant dining room. The plating for each dish left nothing to be desired. The cocktails were spectacular, I got an excellent variant of an old fashioned (with peated whisky) and my wife got mango mocktail that was really interesting. I'm pretty sure it was the Jhoom (mango and ginger ale), which is something I want to try at home. When it came to food, we got the lamb chop tandoor/grill as an appetizer and it was exactly what you'd want from lamb. It was deep and earthy with a firm, but not chewy texture and perfectly spiced with a tomato, onion and chili (kachumber?) side to coat the meat as you saw fit. The lamb was probably the best single thing we got.I got the sea bass curry and my wife got the guinea fowl biryani. The curry was lighter and more intricate than the curry you normally get spiced deliberately with curry leaves (which is different from curry) and a bit of a citrus element. The sea bass itself was a great conduit for the curry, but I'd recommend also getting the rice to make sure you can sop up all of the curry sauce. The biryani was also light and bright instead of the easier-to-do rich and earthy. It's not that I don't like rich and earthy biryani, but the lighter and brighter version was different and much more elegant. Better suited to a lunch date. I'm not sure how much the Guinea fowl added over chicken, but it was yummy and certainly didn't taken anything away from the dish.To top everything else, they brought out a small dessert (two chocolate-covered blueberries) with the bill as we left. I couldn't have asked for a better date meal out.

A wonderful place to eat if you are looking for a splurge or fancy date night. The only downside is that I don't know if I will ever be able to enjoy chicken tikka masala from anywhere else now because Kutir has set the bar very high.

You have to ring the doorbell to enter the restaurant which is quirky. We were shown to our seat which seemed to be as if we were in someone's home. This was an unexpected pleasant surprise and made dining a cosy affair. We started with the Buttered Baked Crab and Prawns Masala. Delicious flavours. Next was the Lamb Shank and Chicken Tikka Masala with sides of steamed rice and Katie Kaali Dal and Breads Basket. All the flavours were melt in the mouth tasty. They have an extensive wine list and our selection Groot Constantia Pilotage was one of the best that we have had. Service throughout was amazing; we weren't hurried for anything and the waiter was quite good at answering questions about the menu.We will definitely be going back there.

Nestled into a townhouse, Kutir's feel and decor was a lovely surprise. ย We loved the colors and the comfort of the restaurant. ย We felt well taken care of the moment we stepped in the door. ย All the food was delicious, but particularly the Tadka Dal starter. ย We also enjoyed the sea bass and chicken tikka. ย We immediately recommended Kutir to some friends and would return any time we are in the neighborhood.

My fave was the broccoli/morels dish and the gorgeous banana fritters in the Valrhona choc dessert. The truffle naan scramble was scrumptious too. Can never have too much truffle IMHO!I found the ambience lovely but the service a little patchy. The extra dessert was a very sweet touch though and I'd recommend this spot for a romantic meal, no doubt!

If they master one thing here it's the spices! Went for the weekender special (35ยฃ set menu) a great deal to sample their food without breaking the piggy bank. The starter: Softshell crab with chickpea, tellicherry pepper, garlic and mustard. Deliciously crispy and fulll of flavour , a must try! 2nd starter: Salmon Mooli -tandoori tikka, dill raita and pickle. This was my fav of the 2 starters. A buttery salmon full of Indian spices Lamb tandoori chop, tomato kachumber, salad. Good but nothing special.Mains: Chicken Tikka Masala, classic nothing bad about it but nothing special eitherPrawn curry, the prawn were really soft so not my thing.Dessert: ย Spiced poached pear with melon sorbet. A good dessert to end the meal, again nice spices. The best little finish was the little chocolate filled with a roasted pineapple puree. They should sell those Overall this is a beautiful restaurant set in a townhouse. The dishes while not so creative are full of the Indian spices that lot of places lack of. I would definitely come back to try more dishes.

We came to Kutir since the chef here used to be at Gymkhana and we absolutely love Gymkhana. However, Kutir still has a lot of ramp left to even be close to Gymkhana's offering. The restaurant is in a quaint cozy house; you really do feel like you're going over to someone's house for dinner! The decor is also fantastic from ceiling decor to well appointed wall coverings and chandeliers. The service was practically a 2. Our server really needed to learn more proper English to be working in such an establishment. He asked "how your starter?" We knew what he meant, but not classy. Our water glasses were also empty a couple times before they were refilled - not a standard for a restaurant of this stature. Our server just lacked emotion and genuine care in general. The food was about a 3.5. We ordered a couple starters - the soft-shell crab was excellent and well fried, though wish it was hotter in temperature. The mushroom starter was just weird. Entrees included the tikka masala and sea bass. The sauces were good, but the sea bass wasn't salted well. Parts of the piece of fish were very salty while others were bland. The bread basket was a nice array of 3 different types of naan, but included several pieces that were quite burnt/inedible. The drinks we ordered were amazing though including the mango lassi. Best one yet. Also appreciated that the restaurant recognized our anniversary with a small dessert, which is pushing it up half a star.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the best indian food I've ever had.
ย We had a set menu (they have a weekend menu where you can choose from a bunch of choices) and we had:-Prawns-Lamb starter-Chicken Tikka Masalaand added:-Chicken and Lentils-Truffle Risotto like dish made of rice and mushroomsEverything was super bomb except the dessert (which was a bit weird and which I frankly could have skipped.) ย With the set menu they give you Naan Rice and a side of lentils which are the best lentils I've ever had- and I don't even like lentils normally. ย The truffle risotto dish was underwhelming while there, but we took it home and when I heated it up it was really bomb- so I think it just didn't go with the rest of our meal and/or everything was just absurdly next level.
Be the first to ReplyService - Mediocre at best.
Server brought our cocktails late, mixed up our allergies and was generally too hurried.Food - In a city with so many options for quality Indian food (modern or traditional), Kutir fell very short. Most dishes seemed to attempt to be complex for the sake of it and were uninspiring. The tasting menu felt like random dishes cobbled together, not portioned for a multi course tasting in any wayWine pairing - Shockingly poor for a fine dining restaurant. Wine pairings didn't change when substitutions were made for allergies. No sommelier in sight.Overall, not worth the money or time. The restaurant is just trying too hard. Also it could benefit from a bar area given how rigid they are about reservation timingsI had high hopes but Kutir really disappointed

Wow- totally blown away- fantastic food, great service, wonderful ambience - can I really be in London??
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is excellent top to bottom.
The food, staff and atmosphere were all amazing. I think it is located in a refurbished townhouse and the rooms are all well proportioned and it has a homey feeling. i also really liked the restaurants aesthetics the interior design was a very cool mix of modern and traditional influences with a really nice colour palate. The food was all excellent and the cocktails equally good. They have a few menu options ala-carte, prix fix tasting menu, and also a 5:30-6:30 early dinner set menu that was very affordable. ย This was the type of place that once you leave you are excited to go back to and try the dishes you didn't get the first time.

Really great ambiance and overall aesthetics. The staff was incredibly friendly and they went out their way to make us feel at home. Now to the food. We had some cheese and wine before the meal elsewhere so we weren't starving (huge mistake) but we decided to get a few sharable plates and we split the sea bass for our main. The highlight of the "tapas" was easily the venison. It felt like a traditional venison stew but with spicy Indian seasoning and sauce. The sea bass was also phenomenal as it came in a cauldron of delicious and spicy coconut sauce I which we soaked our bread for every bite. The skin on the fish was crispy and the meat delicate and flavorful. Really a great dish. For dessert we got the chocolate and banana. Not much to say here, I thought it was just ok but my wife love every bite. Probably just a preference thing.
