I actually appreciate the fact that the ambiance isn't one of those overly upscale places for the quality of the food you get. It's casual in terms of dress code and set-up, yet the food itself is really fantastic. Sometimes you just want to roll up to some place without needing to dress for the occasion while still getting good quality food! Side note I did wish they refilled waters a little more often but they kept up with things and cleaning out the dishes very well after each round.Food:Starting with the seasonal appetizer, it was off the bat excellent quality. I believe we had the red snapper nigiri, which was lightly seared and the sauce they had with this was a good way to get your appetite going. Mackerel soup: Wow, I never knew mackerel could be this good. It was extremely tender and the soup had this umami flavor that really warms you up on a cold night. Chuwanmushi: perfect balance and comes out piping hot. There were some shrimps in this too.As for the combo B we got, the wagyu was super tender, melt in your mouth perfect, but the portions definitely are on the smaller side. The seafood was fresh overall doesn't lend itself well for sharing, with one oyster, 2 crab legs and a claw, plus 3 clams. I wasn't really a fan of how sandy the clams were, but the crab and oyster was perfect even after lightly dipping into the broth. We ordered an extra plate of the wagyu to help with portions but this is the one downside where while I get we're paying for quality, it's a definitely not the most filling meal I've had either. Thankfully it comes with udon afterwards, otherwise I definitely would've left hungry. Side note, the sauces are probably some of the best I've had for shabu-shabu. The sesame sauce and ponzu are delicious and a great complement for anything you dip in it!Desserts: you get a lot of options to pick from. Given the hard hitting flavors we had earlier, we opted for the strawberry sorbet, which was excellent in terms of being refreshing, a little tarty, yet still sweet. Top it off with a hot cup of tea to end the meal.Parking: paid parking for this area, but not terrible to get in and out of. If the lot is full, which it easily can be given all the shared businesses, try the lot across the street at the Office Depot ($10 flat rate valet, but I guess during the pandemic, you can just park yourself which is nice).
