This was prob the best Japanese food I had in Sydney.
Great service and authentic food. Love the lunch bento selection too. The place is a must each time I'm in Sydney.

Ordered soft shell crab roll, gyoza and the deluxe sashimi assortment. The sashimi was fresh and tasty but the other two were very subpar. I heard this was on a list of best Japanese restaurants in Sydney...and I definitely disagree. A solid A-Ok place.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing.
This restaurant served me a tuna avocado roll with mayonnaise. The menu made no mention of the inclusion of mayonnaise. I asked for a new roll without mayo and a new roll was brought to me. However, the manager brought me the bill and charged me twice. I protested and he said it is not his problem, that I should have asked for no mayonnaise when I ordered. Will never come back here.

Amazing winner tonight, sushi is fresh out of the water.

Great food, great service, authentic cuisine, authentic atmosphere, amazing cuts of sashimi, great soft shell crab.
Be the first to ReplyI stopped by on a Monday evening for a quick dinner.
I ordered the salmon sashimi and it was okay but I've had *much* better (fresher, fattier salmon) for *much* less $$ back home in California. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though and maybe their other offerings are more worth the high price. The service, on the other hand, was abysmal. The place was not crowded at all and my order was taken and delivered very quickly. It took for-ev-er to get the check though. After I asked for it the first time, the waitress disappeared and then studiously avoided me for the next 15 minutes or so. After I asked the second time, she took yet another 5 minutes to deliver the check.Even if I lived in Sydney, I probably wouldn't come back. The fish was just average, it was way overpriced, and the service was far too slow.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Japanese restaurant hidden in plain sight.
The decor is old school and you'd feel like you're in Japan. Majority of the wait staff were Japanese. We ordered kinpira, a very simple everyday Japanese dish and I felt like I was back in Japan. The crispy soft shell crab hand roll was delicious. The kushiyaki was really good as well. We got grilled Patagonian tooth fish and it was delish! Just as we were leaving the people next to us ordered tempura soba that smelled amazing. Now I have to go back.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband keeps raving about this place and tries to come
My husband keeps raving about this place and tries to come every time he's in Sydney. Since he insists this is the best sushi he has ever had ... Well I have try to see if it's worth the hype. They recognize him immediately which I find a little funny because he must come here more often than I think. We sit at the sushi bar and we are greeted by the chef and the waitress quickly sets down our plates and takes our drink orders. They pour us sake Japanese style. The service is impeccable even at the sushi bar. We had the omakase, which means the chef chooses your food for you and it consisted of all raw foods. We had a mix of sashimi and nigiri from both fish and shell fish. My top favorites were the scallop lightly seared and the super decadent toro with uni on top. That was so simple, but I have never had them together! There were 2 things about the omakase experience that really set this place apart from other sushi restaurants. 1. I tried fish that I have never heard of nor tasted before (and I can't spell them either)2. They presented different parts of the fish for you to try. For example, he gave us yellow tail belly and then presented a yellow tail closer to the fin with a little of the skin to give it more flavor. I appreciated the extra attention of presenting the same fish, but in a slightly different way to enhance its flavor.Looking around I saw plenty of tables eating a mix of both raw and cooked foods. Even though we only had raw food, the cooked food looked delicious. If you're looking to try the omakase, call ahead to let them know. It was possible to also have cooked foods in our omakase, but we preferred raw. Yes, this place is worth the hype because of their service, attention to detail, great food and presentation and somehow it was still laid back. They knew my husband by name and most restaurants in big cities lack that personal touch.
Be the first to ReplyBest Japanese restaurant in Sydney.
Super authentic - you know when you see the Japanese diners in the restaurant. Food is always amazing - fish/seafood is super fresh and consistently delicious.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my go-to lunch spot for good Japanese in the area.
The bento boxes are excellent although a little pricier than others, and substitutions are fine.Like all good Japanese restaurants, lots of good Japanese beer and sake on offer. It can be hard to get in on Fridays without a booking, so suggest you think ahead.Across the little mall is a companion noodle and sushi bar fora more casual and takeaway experience,Enjoy!
