If you are looking for a date night destination(preferably more that 3+ dates through) - this is a charming spot that will create a wonderful evening to remember. The ambience, the drinks and the food is all curated to make the experience memorable. My wife and I had a wonderful evening with the perfect levels of music and chatter in the background and hats off to Ethan, our bartender for the best wine pairing recommendations. Their crรจme brรปlรฉe is out of the world on top of everything. Note: the wine menu is also curated by Ethan.

My husband and I don't get out very often and when we do, we like to explore fun places to eat and this place did not disappoint. The music was louder then I personally cared for but that's an easy fix I popped my loop ear plugs in to just dim the nose. The restaurant is Corkley decorated and I loved all of it. The servers were amazing, super attentive and very fun. The food was so good. I wish I could've eaten more. We started our dinner with oysters and escargot I ordered the tartar and Fritz and my husband ordered the duck. We finish the night with desserts a lovely pastry for me and crรจme brรปlรฉe for my husband. If you want a fun place to have a night out I would recommend this place every time.
Be the first to ReplyJustine's is actually my new favorite restaurant in Austin.
The location is a little out of the ordinary of where I would go but it was an amazing scenery! The food was actually AMAZING!!!!! There is a guitarist in the parking lot so if that doesn't say enough I don't know what does. The vibe is amazing. The service was great everyone was sooo nice! I felt sooo cool eating because the restaurant was so cool inside. Such cool decor and they had live music but it was not overwhelming or too loud it was PERFECT. Definitely will be returning!
Be the first to ReplyWhat an awful experience.
For context, my girlfriend and I called 10 minutes prior to see how long the wait would be for a table of two and their response was that there was no wait. Once we arrived we had to wait 7 minutes in line in order to speak with the hostess to be seated. When we arrived to the front of the line and asked for a table for two, this is when our experience took a drastic turn for the worse. The hostess pretty much ignores us for the next five minutes while speaking in French to her colleague. She then tells us the wait is an HOUR after being informed that a table for two would be no wait. Not only that but everyone ahead of us were seated after patiently waiting and there were open tables specifically for two for us to be seated in. When I explain to the hostess the situation she responded with, "a lot can change in five minutes" in the most rude manner I've received from a hostess. Her tone for the whole interaction was rude and unacceptable from the start. I would never step in this restaurant nor recommend it to any of my peers. If I could give negative stars for the service, I would.
Be the first to ReplyFood was expensive but mid.
The escargots and chocolate mousse were phenomenal, sure, but the bread was cold, the ratatoullie was underseasoned, and the pate en croute was undercoocked (raw pastry). For how much we paid, I wanted something...better? Service was fine, very French. There is a free parking lot just down the street, so there's that. Not my favorite. Must have been an off night.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service.
.. they gave away our table after we payed a deposit and never refunded, we were on time and had the exact amount we reserved for. Old lady at the front was extremely disrespectful.

How is this place rate 4 star? Justine's is incredible, the food is excellent, the ambiance is off the charts, the vinyl is always spinning, service is always just right. No reservations means you have to show up and spend an hour hanging out with a cocktail before dinner. Love it. Easy five stars.
Be the first to ReplyDark and moody dinner spot.
We opted for the main room, which had the bar and a few tables, and a lot more decor pieces to set the tone. We ordered a couple drinks from the bar while we waited - to be honest none of the drinks were super standouts, so I'd probably skip the cocktails. Onto the food, we ordered the grilled octopus as a starter. The bread is sooooo good, crispy and chewy and charred! The octopus had a sauce that just reminded me of the Chinese Laoganma chili oil, still good tho. For the mains, the steak and frites were ok, but not worth the price in my opinion. The meat was pretty heavily salted and fatty, but the cook was perfectly pink so that's a plus. I really enjoyed the duck leg - there was a nice salad that balanced out the heavier flavors of the duck and potatoes, and dang those potatoes were the crispiest! Overall I enjoyed this as a special date night spot, and the food had some standout highlights. Just be willing to spend a bit for it.
Be the first to ReplyJustine's has to be one of my favorite date spots in Austin.
The ambiance is intimate and perfect for conversation while also having a very curated music selection playing in the background. Drinks are strong and they have a great variety. Hate it when French restaurants don't have any French beer selections, but Justine's delivers. If you show up early enough, you don't need a reservation. If you don't, get your name on the waitlist and go across the street to Central Machine Works for a drink or two. The escargots were a true delicacy. The bourride was packed with flavor. The mussels, squid and rockfish were all beautifully cooked and the broth was silky and lavish. The steak frites is always a great option. The sauce au poivre is a must for you to dip your fries and the beurre maitre d' hotel really elevates the Angus ribeye. As part of their daily specials, for dessert they had a galette comtoise. It was more savory than sweet, but the combination of the citrus taste of the orange blossom and the candied almonds is definitely something to write home about. I'm not a fan of overly sweet desserts so this one was perfect. If you are looking for a sexy date spot or just a decadent meal, head over to Justine's.
Be the first to ReplyCool unique ambiance.
Most of the food is good (mussels, escargot), and it's a rare treat to get French food in Austin. But the steak frites I would not order again, in a town where nearly every restaurant has a fantastic steak, this one is just not good. Service could also be improved.
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I enjoyed a beautiful Sunday dinner here
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a beautiful Sunday dinner here last week before the ice storm. We were so thankful they were open! This beautiful restaurant exceeded our expectations. My boyfriend and I both work/worked in fine dining for years so were quite knowledgeable on great cuisine and great service. The pork chop with that magical beurre blanc, highlight of the show. We started with escargot, French onion and the salmon cru. The French onion soup was my favorite. Perfect for the cold weather! With our pork chop we enjoyed the ratatouille (amazing) and the haricots verts (exactly what we needed). To finish with dessert, we have a BEAUTIFUL PERFECT espresso martini and crรจme brรปlรฉe. We will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorites in Austin.
Best date night spot with sexy vibes, great atmosphere, amazing food and top notch service. Interesting and eclectic staff who personify a level of cool all while making you feel at home while giving you a unique experience.
Be the first to ReplyOne of Austin's gems.
.. great traditional French cuisine. Wonderful staff. Beautiful atmosphere. Go here if you want a taste of real old Austin.
Be the first to ReplyThis place serves alright food with really weird seating
This place serves alright food with really weird seating situation. We sat in a tent and the space was cramped, the table was tiny and the light was dim from tiny candles. It's almost like you are sitting in someone's backyard and having an semi-expensive dinner. We also waited over an hour to dine in since they dont have reservations for groups under 6. The Escargots were good and the seabass we ordered was great actually. I can't get over the seating and the ambiance of the place that is lacking considering their prices.
Be the first to ReplyThe staff here was really spectacular.
Our party was on the larger side and some of them were late. They were gracious and kind even though I knew they were shutting down soon. The food really was remarkable, and I'd recommend going. The wine list was fun, not too big, but well priced and with a good amount of selections!

I really like this place! Been here about 4-5 times in the last couple of years. It's a really good standby for any relatively-fancy-event (birthday, anniversary, just a fun date night out). Service can be hit or miss (sometimes very attentive, sometimes the server is too cool to check in on ya), but the food is always good. Ambiance is perfect for a date night (dark and intimate feeling inside- albeit sometimes a bit hot in the summer months) and the outdoor porch area is airy, filled with plants and beautiful. Recommend for something that's not downtown proper, but still appropriate for a friends dinner or to take out-of-towners!
Be the first to ReplyJustine's has so many raving reviews and it's recommended
Justine's has so many raving reviews and it's recommended to me by just about every Austin local, so I was really excited to give it a try. In the end I thought it was just ok. The restaurant itself is really unique, and I feel like even the wait staff lean into the French vibe with their outfits and black eyeliner. While we waited for our table we grabbed a seat at the bar and our bartender looked like he'd just stepped off a movie set and made a mean drink. I was feeling really great until we sat at our table. We ordered a salad to split as an appetizer and before we knew it our main dishes showed up and the salad was nowhere to be found. I asked our waitress about it and I have to give her credit, she owned up and said she completely forgot to put it in. She was extremely apologetic about it, and even comped our dessert which was nice of her. I went into this meal ready to spend a lot of money, but when our drinks were empty they never came back to ask if we wanted new ones. The food was good French food for sure, but the entire experience wasn't worth the price point to me.

Wow. Best and most decadent meal I've had in a long time, in an intimate and sexy setting. Every bite better than the last. Whipped pate made me swoon, French onion soup was rich and fragrant, the baguette a perfect expression of boulangerie heaven -- but the pork chop dish stole the show. I will not forget this pork chop. I hope I dream about it tonight.
Be the first to ReplyWriting this review as a vegetarian.
I guess i would consider them not too vegetarian friendly. The only options being salad, fries, and Ratatouille. Going with a group for a celebration may be fine for the price but to go enjoy food, there may be tastier options. Service was good. Ambiance was very eclectic, circus-like. Your table gets one check you can spilt amongst your group and parking shouldn't be an issue with street and designated area.
Be the first to ReplyI'd like to start by expressing that writing this does not
I'd like to start by expressing that writing this does not feel good and I am not generally inclined to leave 1 star for any establishment. I fully understand that some servers/bartenders have bad nights, but this is a culmination of recent experiences which came to a point last night. My group of friends and I have had many great nights at Justines, however, in recent years it's been challenging to have those light carefree evenings there. We tried throwing a surprise party for our friend who loved this place. Our reservation was for 6:30. For our large party they sat most of inside the tent and initially reserved a table for the rest of us outside. Not ideal but I kind of get it. We were told they cannot seat one server with two large tables. When the few of us arrived early we were told to order from the bar as there were not enough of us to order through a server. Which I didn't' understand at all. We did as we were instructed and ordered drinks at the bar while we waited for the rest of the party to show up before the birthday girl arrived. At some point we were granted a table inside the same tent, but not immediately near us, small victory we were happy to have. As more people arrived, we all stood up to hug and say hello, this was met with the hostess who repeatedly came over to tell us we needed to sit down. This is also understandable I guess; I would like to point out that there was only one other table to the corner that was seated in that same span of tables on our side. We were not hovering over other patrons. The birthday girl showed up and we all gave a hearty "Surprise! Happy Birthday!". It took less than 60 seconds for the same hostess to come over and scold us again to sit down. I removed myself to the bar for another drink as the server had not come back over in some time for me to order via him. As I'm ordering at the bar the hostess came over and quite tersely told me I needed to order through my server. In my head I think "she's just doing her job" I said OK, let me close out here" In what was clearly condescendence she said, "do you need help with that?" There was no tone or hint of wanting to help, she was clearly annoyed and talking down to me as if I were a child. I didn't feel at fault as we had been instructed to order through the bar when we arrived, and I truly would have been fine ordering through the server had I been able to do so. At this point I didn't even want to sit back down at the tables inside the tent. It seemed as if existing in their space was an offense. A few of us sat outside in the communal area to finish our drinks and we left for Lustre Pearl East. I am truly puzzled at the feeling of blind detest for our party from the moment we walked in. I would like to say the bartenders were very amiable and gave great service. I've always been a fan of the cocktails at Justines, and if I ever return it will be for that and that alone.
Be the first to ReplyI booked reservations to celebrate my fiancรฉs birthday.
She's celebrated her birthday here for several years and until tonight, this was her favorite. However, this will be our last. We've never worked with a restaurant that is so unwilling to accommodate even a small request; regardless of the circumstances. We didn't ask for anything unusual. At every step, it was like our mere presence was an inconvenience. Service was poor. Most of the staff were rude. And the food was "OK" at best. Certainly not worth putting up with everything else. And to add insult to injury, they added a 30% gratuity to the check. They should have paid us for the harassment. Needless to say, we will no longer eat here or celebrate any special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyAustin weird but great if you like butter.
Good experience.Don't eat the looks in front fool your impression.
Be the first to ReplyThey need a different location with more tables and chairs.
The food is great and the nice portions. The staff is very friendly. Wonderful place. I'd go back and try for a regular table. I'd also go back to listen to the 45 records of French and disco genre.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I have come here every valentines for the last
My wife and I have come here every valentines for the last 4 years... we will NEVER come back. This year, we finished dinner and went inside to have drinks with a couple we met while at dinner there. While at the bar we were kicked out of the restaurant for making a server "feel uncomfortable". we were so worried about what we had done wrong because we love eating at this restaurant and after talking to two managers they had clearly kicked us out for no reason and told us we "harassed" their waiters and could not give a clear explanation as to what had gone wrong. Unfortunately my wife and I will never have valentines or another dinner here again and they officially ruined what could have been a a forever date night spot. We would have done anything to make the situation right, but they kicked us out and shamed us for no reasons at all
Be the first to ReplyI've been eating at this restaurant since it opened in 2009.
I am born and raised from Austin and my husband and I do Valentine's Day here every year. I have never been so disgusted by how the staff at this restaurant treated us. They completely ruined our Valentine's Day dinner and we will honestly never come back to this restaurant. So sad to never want to come back to a restaurant I've been eating at for over 10 years and had family traditions at. Absolutely horrible everything
