Another Magical Stay in the Jewel Of Dubai
This was our 4th stay with Jumeriah and our 3rd at Dar Al Masyaf, Once again the complex exceeded our expectations. Before I review I think its important to echo other comments about changes over the years to 'trim the fat' and I would agree you probably get less for your money than you did 10 years ago but the resort is a business and we accept the hotel has had to adapt to the ever growing competition. We arrived on an overnight flight arriving at around 10am. There was a bit of a wait to check in and the process did feel a little tedious and long winded but never the less we managed to get an early check into one the two rooms which was great as my boy needed a sleep and so did my wife. I had a few issues with my last stay (minor but needed to be addressed) and prior to arriving Marycris had spoken to me about an upgrade and we had pre agreed a room lagoon view in villa 13. This was upheld when we arrived and the room was everything we needed. Our son sleeps VERY well from 7-7 daily so after our evening meal we would spend our evenings on the balcony with wine and the sounds of Pai Thai just across the water. We loved the noise and we felt like we was apart of the restaurant every evening. We used the Kids Club 3 out of the 7 days and we used the in-house babysitting service 3 nights so our boy could sleep in peace and we could eat in peace. A massive shout out to Dolly who looked after our son the nights we ate out (in the hotel) and Franz who kept Joshua entertained in the dat at kids club. The resort is 20 years old this year and is immaculate, there is not a leaf out of place. The grounds team work tiresley and their hard work is visible throughout the resort. The newly refurbished Villas have a lovey fresh clean and crisp feel, more modern than previous but keeping their 1001 Arabian nights charm. House keeping was on it every day and if there was ever an issue it was sorted straight away. The Villa butler is a bit of a scam to be honest, you never see them, only for the evening drinks and to be fair our villa butler was fantastic with the evening drinks, we would call her from the room and she would bring them to our balcony every evening. She new our order and it appeared each evening. She was fantastic with our son and made our stay extra special. I'm so sorry I missed her name but the young lady in Villa 13. You rocked! The wasp E Butler is probably the best thing about the resort, it makes it so easy to book meals and sort issues. A great service! We switched breakfast each day between French Reveria and the Main Buffet. BOTH are outstanding, there is less on offer down at French Rivera but the mains are prepared fresh and you can help yourself to a smaller selection inside. For Dinner we ate at : Zheng He's (Mina Salam) Al Nafoorah (Al Qsar) Shimmers (Mina Salam) Tortuga (Madinat) Tortuga (Mina Salam) (Twice) !! Al Qsar Buffet (for dinner) All of these are 'included' in the Half Board Dine Around and the food is fantastic. The stand out is Shimmers (extra 180 and PP) the food and the setting are out of this world, it had a great DJ and a younger modern feel, it was our fave and the Lamb Shoulder carved at the table. WOW The pools were cold and we had a lot of wind in the week we were there but this didn't impede our stay. Wild Wadi was open and we used it a few times but the was so so dam cold! The stand out in this hotel are the staff, from the moment you arrive to the butlers, the bugger drivers, the abra boat guys, the life guards the pool staff just everyone goes above and beyond exceptions to make you feel special. We find it hard to fault and we can't wait to return next year. Top Tips! Floor 24, well worth a visit for a cocktail, views are amazing. The Under 4's kids eat free is just Wonderfull, 3 courses for lunch or dinner or both!, all included. Evern the private Villa pools. I had fish and chips, apple juice and chocolate brownie all brought to our sun loungers for my son. This is so good and really made our dinner plans easier knowing Josh was fed at a reasonable hour. Phone your Buttler for drinks, it's much quicker than hanging around in the maglis!
Be the first to ReplyOur experience in Dubai
The attitude towards guests is terrible. They didnโt reacted on our request , and moved us to another room only on 3 day. We were given the farthest and noisiest room near roads . They take a very long time to respond to requests. They couldnโt remove the deposit from the card - they blocked our cards from the room, I had to go argue and sort things out! The children could not get into the room. We are disappointed with this attitude. Service for 3๏ธโฃโฆ.
Be the first to ReplyNice hotel, great water activities
The trip was enjoyable, but most of all I would like to commend the Hydro aquatics team, in particular the hydrojet driver/instructor Musa. Musa helped me learn how to use a waterboard comfortably and quickly. It was interesting and exciting

This is our second visit to Dar Al Masyaf and 10th visit to Jumeriah properties and I love this hotel but its simply not as good as last time. This is a problem when you go back to properties where you've had such a good time and outstanding service, but I feel that Jumeriah are not helping themselves with some of the changes they've made. Before Arrival We were on the half board option and when doing our research we were being told to book restaurants early. We tried to do this online, and nothing was available. This panicked us a bit and we emailed the hotel about some reservations. Initially we had no reply but after chasing them up we did get reservations at the Hide and Zeng He's. We did try to book brunch at Al Qasr but this was a nightmare. No one could confirm if we had a reservation or not, so we booked Bubbalicious at the Westin! The poor communication and lack of information will be a feature of my review. I've noticed a few comments on TA which say don't bother with Emails or WhatsApp. Phone up. Check In. We arrived at 9.30pm and this process was really poor. They gave us no real information (apart from scan this.... Its the e-butler!). We'd travelled for 10 hours and no one asked if we were hungry and wanted to use our evening evening meal credit. We had previously asked to stay in or near Villa 12 again and they actually put us in Villa 26, which could not have been any further away! We asked if we could pay to upgrade and were told no. We are full. The hotel was not even close to being full and when we went on the website it would have let us have book any room we wanted, so we were a bit confused about this. Hotel Grounds Simply outstanding!! Abra and buggy staff were amazing. Room Huge for 3 of us. Plenty of bottled water, coffee machine and we overlooked the lagoon. One of the reasons we booked here was the evening drinks in the courtyard. We like pre dinner drinks and chatting to other travellers. We weren't told that the 6-8 time had changed to 5-7. This has a big impact as people don't tend to use this facility anymore. They tend to get drinks in their room as get ready to go for dinner. This is a real shame, as in the past it was a very social gathering where you got to know other guests and your butler. The change to an E-butler hasn't helped here. One one evening we sat around for 20 minutes wondering how do we get a drink? Do we help ourselves? Do we order on the app? Again, nothing explained. I think they have 1 person covering 2 or 3 villas (which is 27 rooms). A few years ago it was one person per villa so it was a much more personal experience. Times change and technology must be embraced, but just tells us!! I think the problem was made worse by the fact that the hotel was so quiet. Quite rightly, Jumeriah don't want to pay staff to just sit around. However, the prices are going up. We did complain about this and eventually spoke to a duty manager. In fairness they were brilliant in addressing our issues, but it could have been easily avoided. I can't stress enough how fantastic management were in responding to our issues! Pools and beach Stunning!! There is no better view in Dubai. Restaurants Breakfast was very good in the buffet and French Riviera. In previous visits you could have breakfast in any of the Jumeriah hotels. You can't anymore. No one mentioned this. We were on the half board options with lots of restaurants to choice from. We ate at the the Hide, Zheng He, Arboretum buffet, the pool bar and the Dhow and Anchor at JBH. All were brilliant apart from the Hide. This is a 'high end' steakhouse and the half Board option was not explained very well and we ended up with a ยฃ100+ bill just to use the half board menu. Our chicken took 70 minutes because it apparently needed to rest! I think they just forgot about us. Wild Wadi Brilliant as usual with plenty of buggy's available. The staff operating the buggy's and Abra's are a real strong point of the hotel. Summary A stunning hotel in a prime location, with beaches, water park and the Madinat Souk. Brilliant staff, but the changes that Jumeriah are making aren't being communicated and it caused us a lot of issues when you're paying nearly ยฃ1k a night. 10 visits to Jumeriah properties but sadly its time for a change.

We were there as a family including children and grandparents. The hotel complex is super nice but the service is not in keeping with the price category. We were there for 10 days in Villa 9, which was very nice in itself, but the pigeons leave their droppings everywhere outside. In The Hide restaurant, my daughter had hair in her food and the African-American restaurant manager argued with us that it was ours. After a long discussion, he offered the child an ice cream as "compensation" and we still had that on the bill. Only the butler in Villa 9 was really magical. After that we went to the Burj Al Arab. This is worth the money in comparison. The clientele in Dar al Masjaf was mainly Russian.

Be the first to ReplyAwsome wonderful stay and i will definately come back!!!
Since im traveling alot and be a guest in 5 Star Hotels mostly around the World have to mention that this resort is definately the best place interms of Service, food and entertainment! Besides that i have to mention that the most impressive is the Team of amazing people who are working here, which made my stay so unforgettable perfect! It would be always so gentle to enter the beautiful room and finding beautiful flower arrangements and fresh fruits, or a romantical folded bird decoration, done out of towels on the bed, feel so special and warm welcome all the time during my stay! So again i have to say a big thank you to the Manager Mr Abbos, who made it possible to stay with Concierge Butler Ashis, who is the most professional and caring person i know, next to his Team from houskeeping, i would also thank Rojita, Rhoneza, Koushik and Prasant very much for always perfect set ups and cleaning and be so sensitive to find out fast what i need as a guest in the room. Everything is so detailed and warm heartet that you feel like a queen all the time, which makes every stay very magical! I will definately come back soon since this is the place! to recharge my Batteries! There is no better Service, food and entertainment like this resort! Again i have to mention Ashis again, he is just an amazing host and always make everything possible and gets reservations done very quick and super professional!!!

For our second visit to Dubai we were looking for a beach hotel and boy did we find the best one! Our room in villa 16 on the ground floor had lots of windows en the best bed ever. The bathroom is huge and we had a nice terras. Breakfast was wonderful and we really enjoyed the breakfast at French riviera. The complementary drinks between 18.00 and 20.00 each day really nice. The beach is simply stunning, the sunbeds soo comfortable we had no problem staying at the beach the whole day! everybody was really friendly, we had some nice talks with the hardworking men at the beach and the abra drivers where lovely!! We had diner at a few restaurants and loved Taverna and the mexican restaurant. We thought this was a once in a lifetime stay but we already booked for this september, canโt wait to be back!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyCan the Madinat return to the pre-covid high levels of customer service?
The DAM is the best hotel we have had the pleasure of staying in. This was our 4th stay and our 10th anniversary. We stayed in Villa 11. We travelled in August 2022 so apologies for the late review. August is hot, very hot. But everywhere is air conditioned and the pools are chilled. So days by the pool were perfect. The only negative with a Dubai summer for me, was that it remained in the high 30โs at night, which meant you couldnโt eat outside or walk very far without sweating. If you have never visited Dubai before and plan on visiting lots of sights outside of the resort, then I would recommend visiting between October - April. There are 1000โs of reviews on here that detail the amazing highlights of this hotel and on a positive note our pool butler Edison was the best butler we have ever had at the DAM. He should be a Villa Butler as his service is impeccable. However this review focuses on the issues on this trip which made a difference from previous trips: 1: Firstly there is a massively reduced number of restaurants on Jumeriah Flavours (Half Board) to avail without supplements. 2: 40AED (ยฃ9/$11US)for a 70cl bottle of water at dinner is ridiculous. Complimentary bottled water is provided in rooms and by the beach/pool. Bring it back with meals for those on Half Board. 3: Lack of Buggies and Abras. On several occasions wait times were in excess of 15 minutes. Staff constantly blamed COVID as a reason but this is no longer an excuse. Employ more staff or purchase extra buggies/boats. Also extra fans/air coolers should be added to the stops to cool the large number of people waiting. 4: The villa butler is now barely present other than check-in/out and sundowners. However, I feel that the butler service is more efficient in principle. Although on 2 separate occasions when using the e-butler service I never received a response. Despite assurances I would. 5: The sundowner drinks were not up to standard this year. We had no crisps/olives in our villa for 3 nights despite complaining to the butler on numerous occasions. Once I complained to management there was an endless amount of crisps. (Including in our room!) So either our butler was ignoring us or management were ignoring our butler. Our villa also ran out of beer on 2 occasions. There were also no fruit juices / squash for those who do not drink alcohol or fizzy drinks. Due to these above points the premium price to stay at DAM is becoming less justifiable. Despite this I will be returning to Dubai this summer and giving the DAM a second chance. Iโm really hoping that these issues were due to the after effects of covid and that things have now improved.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THE RECEPTION AREA THEY TOLD ME WHEN I CHECKED IN THAT I HAD TO LEAVE A DEPOSIT AND WHEN CHECK OUT WAS DONE I WOULD RETURN MY CREDIT CARD BUT 40 DAYS HAS PASSED AND NOTHING. $280 WAS CHARGED AND THEY DID NOT RETURN IT TO ME. I WRITED TO THE EMAIL AND NOTHING. I EXPECT A SOON ANSWER.

It was our 3rd stay in Dar al Masyaf which we prefer in Madinat for its tranquillity, private villa pools and butler service. This stay thanks to our butler Brian was probably one if the best. He was very nice and attentive. Always helpful. When we arrived he unpacked our luggage which was such a relief after long travel. We always enjoyed best tables in the restaurant thanks to his connection. And kids loved Brain as he sent treats to them :) So next time we are coming only to a villa where Brain is a butler :) The hotel opened a few new restaurants (Bastion was nice), but our favorites were good old Rock Fish, Zheng He and Pad Thai. Flamingo room and Il Borro are also good ones, but doesnโt belong to the Hotel. We also liked the buffet Arboretum in Al Qasar - they served lobsters for dinner and truffle scrambled for breakfast ๐. However Hanaya - buffet in Mina AโSalam didnโt impress at all. Unfortunately Wild wadi water park was closed for reconstruction, but the the beach was great.

Fabulous hotel that has really upped its game since Covid. Plenty of sunbeds on the beach and by the pool. Special shout out to Prabesh in villa 22 who kept our room scrupulously clean, and always with a smile. Thank you Prabesh!
