We had a surprisingly nice lunch at Johny's.
Cost atmosphere and like sitting at a chefs table with our meal prepared right in front of us. Place has A sanitary rating and deserves it. My guest ordered a house salad with chicken. Generous portion of nicely seasoned meat on a freshly chopped salad. I had the gyro which was a more than ample size and tasted very good. Prices reasonable and staff super friendly.
Be the first to ReplyVery charming little place.
The coffee was strong, the menu was short, and the staff was fast.Basic breakfast that is well executed and tastes homemade.
Be the first to ReplyUPDATE* I am changing this review from 4 to 5 stars.
Why? I went to the office this morning expecting there to be oatmeal packets available but.. we were out. Rather than panicking, I went downstairs to JL, sat at the counter immediately and ordering a Florentino omelette with bacon + rye toast + tea and watched my breakfast come alive on the griddle directly across from me. Food came out instantly and it was perfect. The only reason I don't have a photo is because I was enjoying it way too much and didn't have time. The space may seem a little cramped at first glance though it's very comfortable and the food is super reliable. I'm officially a regular.Original Review* Amazing and convenient all-day breakfast spot with a generous selection of unique items. I had the Brady Bun which had a Turkey patty, Turkey bacon and grilled onions. Used their house hot sauce and boom! It really hit the spot. The only reason this has 4 stars is because of the space itself being very narrow and tight. Though I love the staff and overall vibe. Will have to try the pancakes next time. Big fan!
Be the first to ReplyJohny's is a classic counter diner in midtown.
The service is super friendly and their short stack is yummy. A tiny place. Come early for a spot. When we go to NYC and we do it often this is a must stop for us. If you want a classic counter diner experience this is your place.
Be the first to ReplyAn awesome breakfast spot that deserves more attention.
It's a totally unassuming and absolutely delicious.Feels like a traditional old school NY breakfast/ lunch spot.5/5
Be the first to ReplyI must have walked by this place a million times.
Finally made it. Its a breakfast place. Not big. I sat at the counter. Had the Jersey Shore. How can i not! It was under the healthy choices. Well. You all can be the judge of that. Anyway it was pretty good. The staff was super friendly. Quick good fresh. Not so cheap. Fun experience If you are looking for a fancy brunch place. This isnt it

Want an authentic NY experience? This old-school place is it. Sis and I yelped for breakfast places in Chelsea one morning, and this was around the corner from our hotel. We got there 10 minutes before opening and the line was already 8 people deep. We sat at the counter. Coffee was weak but otherwise, food was inexpensive and plentiful I had an egg-white veggie omelet with bacon on the side. Came with potatoes and toast. Omelet was cooked perfectly and was filled with good stuff. My sister had the French Toast which was so yummy. No frills, you pay at the counter. It was a hearty start to a day of Christmas shopping in the city.
Be the first to ReplyGreat local spot with perfect eggs and bacon.
Beats a hotel breakfast by a long shot..
Be the first to ReplyThis place is great.
Walked in on a whim as I had an appointment down the block and wanted a bite to eat. What a treat! Great owner, great (and fairly priced!) food.... I wish I lived in the neighborhood! I will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat classic diner! If you're in town, you gotta stop by.
Super nice owner, amazing food. Good coffee.I had the big man's breakfast. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyI have no idea if the food is any good.
The place is tiny, which is no big deal. My issue was the extreme rudeness of the guy in charge. It was so bad that the two of us decided it wasn't worth the wait. If you want a pleasant environment, go elsewhere. We walked over to Friedmans Herald Square and had a great meal.

A small welcoming hole in the wall, but boy am I glad we caught it! Such kind staff and friendly cooks! Delicious food and extremely affordable, will walk in WHENEVER i pass by empty tummy or not lol

The best breakfast we had in New York, went back two more times. You can't beat it. The signature sandwiches are fantastic, didn't have any I didn't enjoy! Only recommendation is better beverage pricing, I hit up a deli or 7/11 between coming here instead.

Friendly cooks, delicious food, and free coffee if you order a breakfast sandwich. What more do you want? Had the fried salami breakfast sandwich w/ onions, bell peppers, and some coffee. Girlfriend had banana pancakes. Definitely recommend both.

While heading out for breakfast, my husband and I found that our initial breakfast choice was closed so we turned around and came across Johny's. What a blessing in disguise! While it's a cozy little spot with limited seating, we were able to snag two stools before a line formed outside, and we quickly found out why. The food was traditional diner food and oh so yummy! I had the French toast with bacon and my husband had the salami and egg on a roll. The food is made to order, the coffee is hot and the service/owner was wonderful and extremely friendly and accommodating. This is a place we would definitely visit again before leaving this beautiful city! Check it out if you're in the area....you won't be disappointed.

I ordered the Mexican eggs for take out and they might be my new favorite breakfast dish. I'll definitely be one of their more frequent customers from here on out.
Be the first to ReplyGreat breakfast place.
Amazing price. Good people. Good ingredients. Nothing fancy but I don't know anything like it in the area for the same price. I am always happy after eating here.

Probably one of my absolute favorite places! Johnny himself was wonderful! Food was amazing! I wish I was able to go here more but my husband ended up in the hospital instead so we had to move hotels. Hopefully I can get back there. I had a huge breakfast and it was so good!

Fast friendly hot food at a reasonable price . We really loved watching the food made in front of us on a grill.

What a fantastic spot for breakfast! We were in the city for the day and stopped here first. A couple of breakfast sandwiches made fresh. It was a very cold day but these hit the spot and kept us warm while we walked downtown. Highly recommend eating in or picking up from Johnny's!

How have I not gone here before? We went yesterday (Sunday at 12:30-ish) and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated at the counter - happily right in front of the grill so I could see and smell all of those pancakes, eggs, bacon and potatoes being cooked to perfection. I knew I had to taste all of them (and I did because that's what I ended up ordering). My husband and son also got breakfast dishes - although it was really hard not to at least get one of the amazing special sandwiches that were on the menu as well. I feel like we could come back here every week and order something different and it would take us really long time to exhaust all the possibilities. When a little table (1 of 2) opened up in the back, the so-nice and funny person behind the counter said we could move there, which was nice so the 3 of us could all sit across from each other and talk and share food easily, but I actually missed seeing all of the food cooking - so now when I go back I am holding on to that counter spot! The pancakes were perfect - fluffy and delicious (and huge)! And my farmer's omelette was cooked exactly the way I asked... with egg whites and really well done and brown, and my potatoes and turkey bacon were cooked exactly like I asked as well. As you will read in all of the other reviews, this place is really really tiny and you might almost miss it if you were walking by quickly -- but don't walk by quickly! Go in, sit down at that counter, and get ready to have an amazing breakfast without paying those idiotic prices that every other brunch place in New York is charging. This is the real deal - and I can't wait to go back!

This place is amazing! We come here for breakfast all the time. Sometimes there is a wait but it's ok! I'm willing to wait for good food. The people who work here are very nice too! Always making people smile. This restaurant is truly a gem worth visiting several times!

Nice breakfast before venturing out with family to look around NYC. Josh was really nice, order was done well and exactly to one's liking. Coffee was perfect
Be the first to ReplyDelicious breakfast sandwiches.
It brought back memories, from when I used to leave in NY. A nice egg, bacon and cheese sandwich in a Kiser roll. Soooo good. Love it. As to the service Josh was excellent, great servers Fe. Thank you Josh.
